OpTic India reigns it’s supremacy against Entity in the upper-bracket finals

The upper-bracket finals between OpTic India and Entity Gaming were the last match of the day. There’s neck to neck competition between these two for the top spot in the Indian Counter-Strike circuit. OpTic decided to pick inferno; banned mirage and cache. Their counterparts Entity Gaming, chose to play Overpass; banning nuke and train. Dust II went to become the decider of this best-of-three clash.

  • Inferno: Entity 16-9 OpTic

  • Dust II: Entity 8-16 OpTic

Entity gaming forced in the second round with four upgraded pistols and a scout but OpTic squad didn’t crumble against the pistols and bagged the second round.

Entity stacked A-site in the third round but OpTic decided to rush the alternate site. OpTic seemed very strong and secured the fifth round with a quick apartment play; Entity is yet to grab a round.

OpTic went for a quick banana take but HuNtr got a quick frag onto Haivaan, green wall wasted no time and rushed the A-site but Amaterasu held his ground and got a crucial double-kill to secure first round for his squad. OpTic didn’t slow down and this time, they rushed mid to get destroyed by HuNtr’s AWP as he grabs a quick 3k and Excali cleaning up the remaining two.

Scoreboard looked inclined towards green wall 5-2. OpTic bagged the succeeding round but Deathmaker got an amazing 3k with the UMP-45 and destroyed OpTic’s economy. The scoreline looked 4-6 favoring OpTic but Entity was quickly climbing up the ladder. Entity won a couple of rounds to tie the scoreline at 6-6. OpTic grabbed the succeeding round.

The fourteenth round saw Deathmaker taking an incredible quad-kill to demolish a quick apartment play. OpTic India got a slight edge over Entity Gaming; first half ended 8-7.

Marzil’s outstanding performance helped OpTic win the game.

Entity had a quick arch rush in the pistol round to tie the scores at 8-8. The seventeenth and eighteenth round did look a little shaky in the beginning although Entity came on the top to take lead for the first time. OpTic tried a weird apartment boost and Deathmaker took an incredible 3k at mid to clear the A-site.

Entity got overwhelmed by upgraded pistols in the twentieth round. Since then, all the rounds were grabbed by the boys in blue. OpTic’s pick, Inferno ended 16-9 in Entity’s camp.

Second map was overpass. In the pistol round, Entity went for a quick toilet control on the T-side, antidote stepped up with an insane triple kill followed by a couple of kills from forsaken to shut down the round. Following two rounds against upgraded pistols seem a little chaotic but OpTic managed to go 3-0.

Entity got an early 4vs3 advantage in the first gun round; Entity headed towards the B-site and got the bomb down but OpTic successfully retook the bomb site with yb’s ninja defuse. Marzil channeled out his inner Fer and got an amazing 4k in the playground to get to 5-0, flawlessly.

Seventh round finally went in Entity’s camp with their in-game-leader taking 3k in the playground, pushing the unnecessary aggression. Follow up round went down to a 1vs1 scenario although HellRangeR clutched it for his side. Both the teams traded few close rounds but the first half ended 9-6 inclined towards OpTic India.

Second half began with Entity taking aggressive stance at A-long and they also got a couple of kills in the beginning. Unfortunately, they couldn’t close it down and Antidote got an essential 3k. OpTic secured the succeeding two rounds against upgraded pistols and the scoreboard appeared 12-7, with boys in green taking the lead.

Entity came back into the game after picking up the first gun round of the second half but OpTic won the following round and destroyed their economy. Both the sides traded few rounds back and forth but the green wall came on top, taking Entity’s map pick 16-9

Dust II was the decider; Entity won the knife round and chose to play on the CT-side, although Excali made a commendable effort. HuNtr got three kills in mid to grab the pistol round. Entity went 4-0 grabbing two rounds against pistols and the first gun round. OpTic got the first round on the board in a 2vs5 scenario with Marzil getting a quad-kill.

OpTic got into their momentum getting the second round on the board with a quick B-site rush. OpTic won the following two rounds and the scoreline tied at 4-4. Green wall takes the lead for the first time with a perfect A-site split which eventually broke Entity’s economy. Entity finally managed to get a round on board after losing six consecutive rounds.

Entity lost yet another round as Marzil gets two quick kills coming from A-long. Thirteenth round saw Entity getting two quick kills but unfortunately, the boys in blue couldn’t retake A-site as Antidote held his ground and got a massive triple kill. Entity salvaged the last round of the first half making it a 9-6 scoreline favoring OpTic.

Entity got shut down on the A-long with three nasty taps from Forsaken and OpTic won the first pistol round. OpTic won the following rounds against upgraded pistols but Marzil did get stabbed in the back. Marzil went into godlike mode getting multiple kills in the succeeding rounds. The match was titled 14-6 favoring OpTic but Entity did pull off twenty-first round with quick entries from Deathmaker. OpTic took the third map 16-8.

Entity defeats Brutality to meet OpTic in upper-bracket finals.

Entity Gaming vs Team Brutality is a classic encounter when it comes down to the Indian Counter-Strike scene. Team Brutality banned train and mirage while Entity Gaming chose to remove nuke and inferno. Cache and Overpass were respectively picked up by Team Brutality and Entity Gaming; Dust II was left over to be the decider.

  • Cache: Entity Gaming 19-17 Team Brutality
  • Overpass: Entity Gaming 16-6 Team Brutality

HellRangeR and Amaterasu bought utility while the rest of them had armour in the first pistol round of Cache. Entity went for a quick mid-play, later heading towards the B-site and getting the bomb down while the Brutal squad couldn’t retake the site and crumbled down in the hands of Entity. Entity Gaming won the upcoming two rounds against upgraded pistols, merely losing one player.

Entity began the first buy-round with a mid-round A-site split and MAC10s got two entries to clear the site. Brutality forced the fifth round but failed to create any impact in the round. Entity executed a mid-round mid-take and later faked B-site to enter the A-site but Brutality stood strong with each player taking one kill.

Brutality got the second round on the board with the help of double-kills from Fox and Rix, defending the B-site. The succeeding round saw Entity Gaming having a default A-split but Spy managed to get two quick kills with the AWP in a close encounter but HellRangeR went all the way to the B-site to get the bomb down and get that extra money.

Rix with his big green gun was the only man holding the B-site and Entity rushed him, catching him off-guard to clear the B-site. Entity won that round with three players alive and the scoreboard appeared 6-3 in Entity’s favor. Entity Gaming took the tenth round against pistols stacked within the A-site.

Entity, once again went for the A-site split but the Brutal defense demolished the push; scoreboard displayed 4-7 inclined towards Entity Gaming. Entity Gaming went for a quick B-site split and slowed down later but a crucial triple kill from Spy on the defense made sure that his boys didn’t crumble against the boys in blue.

Although Entity got the bomb down on the A-site, Brutality didn’t lose a single player in the post-plant retake scenario. Brutality won all the following rounds except the last one which went in Entity’s bag and the scoreline at the end of the first half merely included towards Entity Gaming 8-7.

Entity, on the CT side, went for an early aggression towards the B-site and bagged the first pistol round. Brutality is reckoned for it’s force-buys and the boys in yellow did reply back Entity taking the second and third round, equalizing the scores at 9-9.

Juventa just charged into the A-site and took 3k on the entry to secure the eleventh round for his side. Entity finally went for a double-AWP set-up in the twenty-second round but it was HellRangeR’s M4A4 getting all the crucial three-kills on the B-site, ending Brutality’s streak.

The AWPs on CT side begin to shine as the boys in blue secured following two-rounds and getting at par with Brutality 12-12. Entity went ahead 15-12 securing the following three rounds; shutting down all aggressive Brutal plays.

Brutality went for a quick A-site play in a do or die situation and secured the round after losing three players in a quick succession; V3nom and Spy fought back 2vs5 to secure the twenty-eighth round. Team Brutality took it to the overtime but lost it’s own pick 19-17. Brutality made a commendable effort.

Overpass being Entity’s pick, Brutality chose the CT side. Two guys from Entity bought the utility to fake A-site and later moved to an empty B-site to secure the first round. As always, Brutality never disappoints with their force buys and took the second round on Spy’s back with an incredible triple kill with the CZ-75.

Team Brutality dealt with an early disadvantage in the third round but Fox and Spy held their stand at the B-site with 2k each. Juventa got a quad-kill near the connector against the pistols making scoreboard look 3-1 inclined towards Brutals. Entity Gaming got their first full-buy in the fifth round and had a successful A-split to secure the second round on the board. Since then, boys in yellow could only secure one additional round to end the first half 11-4 favoring Entity Gaming.

Brutality on the terrorist side, rushed B-short during the one minute mark and picked up all the defenders one by one to finally have a round on the board. Brutals lost to upgraded pistols and a saved AK-47 in the eighteenth round while DEATHMAKER destroyed the Brutal attack on the B-site with an incredible quad-kill. Later, Entity won all the consecutive rounds to win the second map 16-6. They will advance to the upper-bracket finals and they’ll battle against OpTic India at 7:00 PM IST.

OpTic India convincingly takes down SRA

The first match of the Indian Regional Finals (IRF) between OpTic India and SRA began with OpTic India banning mirage & cache, picking up overpass. Their counterparts, SRA banned train and nuke while picked up dust II. Inferno went onto being the decider.

Overpass started with a classic B-site rush from OpTic India with Forsaken getting two quick entries but rest of the squad couldn’t find anything more than a bomb-plant and SRA bagged the first round of the match. OpTic went ahead with upgraded pistols in the second round and successfully secured a buy for the third round by getting another bomb-plant at the A-site.

OpTic took the third round with a quick A-site hit and caught A-defenders off-guard. Fifth round, being a full buy-round for both the teams, OpTic rushed B-site again and successfully won the round. The_Guru saved his AWP for the successive round and got the entry for this team but quick double-kill from Haivaan made sure that his side doesn’t go down to pistols.

In the ninth round, The_Guru went for an aggressive connector peek but he miserably failed and his squad had to suffer with an early disadvantage. The tenth round started with an incredible flashed-kill from DreaM but forsaken rushed A-site from the long and got the bomb planted; nonetheless, SRA secured the round with a crucial triple kill from aFlekX.

OpTic rushed A-site, mid-round through the incendiary and catched the opponents off-guard to grab the eleventh round. OpTic went ahead with a quick B-site hit to secure the succeeding round. Marzil took an incredible ace, rushing the B-site to make the scoreline 10-3 in the favor of OpTic. OpTic getting pretty obvious with the B-rushes, it lost the fourteenth round with DreaM and MaChO getting 2k each. First half of the first map ended 11-4 in the favor of OpTic India.

OpTic, on the CT side rushed the B-monster tunnels to fetch some early information and they won it pretty convincingly with yb shutting down Negative on the lurk. OpTic didn’t go down to pistols in the following two rounds and scoreboard appeared 14-4 in the favour of OpTic. At the end, first map went into OpTic’s bag 16-4.

Second map was the SRA’s pick, Dust II. OpTic decided to start on the defense, pushing SRA to play on the terrorist side. SRA had a full-armour buy and The_Guru made some noise at A-short which cleared up mid-defense and rest of his squad rushed the B-site; SRA didn’t lose a single player this round and grabbed the pistol round.

In the succeeding rounds aswell, SRA didn’t crumble against the pistols, making it a 3-0 for the boys from Kolkata. OpTic, after losing early battle, went on to winning the next three rounds; equalising the scoreline 3-3 and destroyed SRA’s economy. In the seventh round, SRA did some serious damage but in the end, forsaken clutched it against Negative.

SRA finally managed to get a full-buy in the eighth round; the boys from Kolkata executed a B-site split and managed to get the bomb down but Antidote clutched an insane 1vs2, barely defusing the bomb. In the following round, OpTic took the aggressive stance but SRA got an early 3vs5 advantage, shutting down high-mid push and won the round; breaking OpTic’s economy.

OpTic had aggressive positioning at A-short and B-tunnels with the upgraded pistols and they were successful in saving three AK-47s for the upcoming round. The scores tied at 5-5. SRA decided to hit the B-site, initially trading the kills but they couldn’t close down the round and OpTic took the lead 6-5.

The twelfth round went in the favor of OpTic fighting against some upgraded pistols but the OpTic squad couldn’t get a single kill in the succeeding buy-round against the raw firepower of SRA. First half ended 8-7 favoring OpTic India.

OpTic had a quick A-site split with yb buying the essential utility in the pistol-round of the second half. OpTic won the six two rounds but the SRA’s defense did retaliate in the twenty-second round on the back of The_Guru’s triple kill in the B-site. The scoreline appeared 14-8 inclined towards the boys from OpTic. OpTic took the second map 16-9 and advances to the upper-bracket finals where it’ll face the winner of Entity-Brutality match-up.

ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND Regional Finals: The Lowdown before the Showdown!

It is time for us to know who will represent India at Zowie eXTREMESLAND ASIA 2018. We will know the answer by the end of the weekend. Optic India and Entity emerged through the Direct Invite Qualifiers while Slaughter Rage Army and Brutality had to endure the Online Qualification stage to grab their spot at the Regional Finals.

We now look at the four teams that will battle it out at LXG in Bengaluru for a place in ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND Asia 2018.

Optic India

Lineup: yB, Marzil, Antidote, forsaken, haivaan, Formless (sub)
Star Player: Sabyasachi โ€˜Antidoteโ€™ Bose
Favoriteย Map: Inferno/Overpass

The favorites to represent India at the grand stage and with good reason.

Optic India is still waiting to taste defeat at the hands of an Indian adversary, Online or otherwise. The team has been ably led by yB thus far, who has shown that he can more than match up to the younger stars in terms of firepower.

Agreed, they were run close by Entity in their latest encounter in ESL INDIA Premiership Online Phase, winning 16-14 and they did lose a map en route to the Premiership in the first place, with God Particles getting a map off them in the Challenger Playoff Final.

But, the team has oozed class on the server, with Antidote and Marzil being as dominant as ever. What has been refreshing is forsaken, haivaan and their ability to be a nuisance with any weapon at their disposal, showing their versatility.

Optic India go into the Finals as the top seed and face off against Slaughter Rage Army in the first of the matchups. SRA did run them close on Inferno in ESL India Premiership and it will be interesting to see if the Kolkata-based team can trouble Optic India on Saturday.

Entity Gaming

Entity Gaming

Lineup: Amaterasu, HellRanger, DMKing, Excali, Huntr
Star Player: Anuj โ€˜Amaterasuโ€™ Sharma
Favourite Map: Mirage

It has hardly been smooth sailing for Entity, despite the huge amount of expectation that comes with the star-studded roster. The addition of DMKing, Excali and Huntr was touted to make Entity the toughest opponent to Optic India.

They did take one map off Optic India in the Direct Invite Qualifiers. But, their recent loss to JHS has brought forth a few questions on Entityโ€™s form going into the Regional LAN Finals. Still a strong side and perhaps, the only team that can go toe-to-toe with Optic India in terms of firepower, Entity will be looking to be the team to represent India on the big stage and also register their first win over Optic India in the process as well.

Team Brutality

Photo Via Team Brutality

Lineup:ย Varunย ‘spy’ย Mehta,ย Ankit ‘Venom’ Panth,ย Aakash ‘Rix’ย More,ย Arun ‘Juventa’ย kandpal,ย Jay ‘fox’ Shah
Star Player:ย Aakash‘Rix’More
Favorite Map: Inferno

The presence of Brutality on the Regional Finals stage is, in itself, an achievement. Ayush Deora chose to exit the roster, with Brutality bringing in Shooting Monkeys star spy to fill up the role. With Astar gone, much of the burden to fire the team to a win has been put on the shoulders of Venom.

Juventa has stepped up quite a bit but it is the Brutality captain that has to put up the numbers. However, Rix has shown signs of returning to his old form with the big green gun, which could be crucial if they are to beat Entity in the first of the matchups at LXG on Saturday.

Brutality have looked strong despite the departure of Astar and is not a team to be taken lightly, as they showed in the Last chance Online Qualifiers by grabbing the third seed over SRA.

What Brutality really need is to show up on the LAN as they have been doing over the course of the last few days in Online matches. If they manage to do that, Brutality might be able to conjure up a result a tad bit different to the ESL India Summer LAN Finale.

Slaughter Rage Army

Lineup:ย Bubun ‘The Guru’ Panday, Aniket ‘Aflekx’ Ghosh, Swarnadeep ‘Negative’ Majumder, Kiran ‘Dreamy’ Mistry, Dipayan ‘MaChO’ Das

Star Player:ย Dipayan‘MaChO’ย Das

Favorite Map:ย N/A (Inferno/Dust2/Overpass)

A team that is so out of the box that it is impossible to mention a single favorite map for the Kokata-based stack. Four of the five players in Slaughter Rage Army have been present in the scene for a while now. They have used their raw aim and experience to bag the tag of the best team in East India and one of the premier teams in India.

But, their recent results have caught everyone by surprise, albeit positively. They boast of a positive record in the ESL INDIA Premiership Online Phase, with a shot at making it to the LAN Finale.

It was a surprise to see SRA not being invited to the DIQ. But, they answered back in a strong manner, winning the Bhubaneswar Qualifiers to grab a spot in the Last Chance Online Qualifiers, where they beat Invictus and Brutality โ€“ two of the teams that were invited to the DIQ โ€“ to become the first of the two teams to join Entity and Optic India.

While The Guru boasts of impressive numbers on the server, MaChO is arguably their most reliable player. The youngster has a unique style of lurk which enables him to be the difference on many-a occasions.

In the words of experts, the win-condition for SRA is MaChO being able to have an impact with his movement and frags on the server. They are up against Optic India to start things off. A shock win over them could send shockwaves within the Indian scene.

A positive showing at LXG will prove SRA are not just here to make up the numbers.

Brutality overrun Invictus to land final spot at Regional LAN

Brutality swept away the threat posed by Invictus with a straight 2-0 series win (Cache 16-7, Overpass 16-12) to become the fourth and the last team to earn a spot at the Regional LAN Finals of ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND ASIA 2018.

The series started with Invictus opting to start on the T side on Brutalityโ€™s map pick, Cache. Venom shut down an A rush attempt through the middle with a 3k. Invictus managed a plan on the A site in the following round.

A 4k from Rix at the B bombsite ensured Brutality started with a 3-0 lead. Invictus hit back immediately on the first gun round with early mid control, which culminated into a 2v2 and ultimately a round win for the T side.

Invictus almost pulled off a successful post-plant scenario at A. But, spy defused the bomb, which was not planted for Ribbi. who was stationed at A mains. An A shutdown and a failed B split later, Brutality climbed to a 6-1 lead.

Invictus were facing another round loss but a 1v2 from BinaryBUGG on the B offence enabled them to land their second round and go on a mini-streak of sorts. With the score at 7-3, Invictus attempted a Fast A split, which was shut down amicably by Brutality.

Rix then channeled his inner beast with two beautiful kills on the B defence, the second of which was a lightning quick flick, to propel Brutality to an 8-4 lead.

Invictus though, pulled back two rounds to force Brutality on a weak buy for the last round of the half. As has been the case for Brutality throughout the event thus far, they made the weak buy work, ending the half with a 9-6 lead.

Brutality chose to hit the B site in a fast rush, bagging them the second pistol round and the two rounds that followed to push through to a 12-6 lead. With the score now reading 14-6, a successful retake of the B site to get back one round.

It was merely a consolation though, as Brutality closed out Cache 16-7, with Rix leading the scoreboard on 24 kills.

Overpass started on a different tone, with Invictus winning the pistol round. Brutality though, responded with a brilliant force. Rix converted a 1v2 to level the scoreline and break Invictus. Brutality raced to a 4-1 lead and it seemed like they would heap more misery on Invictus, with Ribbi & co. on upgraded pistols.

Invictus though, made it work, with Manan landing a 3k. Another 3k, this time from BinaryBUGG made sure Invictus maintained the momentum. They took the lead for the first time, with their B hit paying dividend.

A few back and forth rounds saw the scoreline pumped to 6-6. Brutality though, shut down Invictus on the last three rounds to go into the second half with a 9-6 lead.

Blackhawk ensured Invictus won the second pistol, thanks to a nutty ace near the WC area. Invictus converted the two rounds that usually follow the pistol to level the scores at 9-9. Brutality though, soon began their charge towards the B site.

Invictus were unable to hold the bombsite despite some good initial duels. Rix clutched at B soon to push the scoreline to 13-9 and a patient A hit in the following round saw Brutality come to within 2 rounds of landing a spot in the Regional LAN Finals.

Invictus shut down two attempts from Brutality before the Mumbai-based stack successfully took over the A site on a quasi buy. Invictus defended the B site successfully in the following round to prolong the tie.

It looked like they would come within 2 rounds of forcing an Overtime. But, some technical error saw Brutality land the round, closing out Overpass 16-12 and the series with a 2-0 scoreline. With the win, Brutality join SRA, Entity and Optic India as the contenders for a spot at ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND ASIA 2018.

The individuals on Brutality were just on point, especially the legendary Rix, who was a constant feature towards the top end of the scoreboard. The chemistry on the CT side was just not there on the day for Invictus, which ultimately, was the difference between the two sides.

Brutality would be delighted to be able to make it to the Regional LAN Finals, especially after a recent roster change saw astar depart the roster. They will now face SRA in the Grand Finals of the Qualifiers to confirm the seeding for the Regional LAN Finals.

SRA overcome Brutals, become third team to qualify for India LAN finals

SRA clinched a spot in the Indian Lan finals of ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND Asia 2018 by beating Brutality over 3 maps ( Cache 10-16, Dust2 – 16-10, Nuke 16-13) in a grueling series.

The action started on Cache with Brutality on the T side. Brutality initiated a quick A hit through the mains. But, a 1v1 from Aflekx ensured SRA bagged the first pistol round of the series.

SRA converted the following two rounds to start off with a 3-0 lead. Juventa though, came up huge with a 3k on the A site to earn Brutalityโ€™s first round win, forcing SRA into an eco. Brutality converted the first of the anti-ecos.

But, a brilliant 2k from the deagle in the following round by Negative on the B site ensured SRA hit back. Macho then defended the A site brilliantly with a 3k before being burnt by the molotov to push SRA into a 5-2 lead.

With the scoreline at 6-2, Juventus produced another 3k at the A site to break SRAโ€™s streak. The Kolkata-based stack though, soon replied with a round of their own, resetting Brutality. As is the case with Counter-Strike though, Brutality converted the round with a weak buy to get their fourth round on the board.

Brutality rode the wave of momentum to then level the scores at 7-7. Juventa produced another exhilarating piece of individual skill with a 4k at A to ensure Brutality ended the half with a narrow lead.

Brutals bagged the pistol round and the ensuing rounds to push the score to 11-7 in their favour.

SRA seemed to have no way past the Brutality defence on either site, with the Kolkata-based team failing in their attempts on both the sites in the following rounds.

Spy came up huge with a 4k on the B defence in the 21st round to propel Brutality to a 14-7 lead. Dreamy responded with a 4k of his own at 7-15.

SRA did manage to string together two more rounds to back up Dreamyโ€™s individual magic before Brutality closed out the map 16-10.

Brutality started on the T side again, this time on Dust2. The Mumbai-based stack seem to be favouring the A short area and chose to rush A through the same on the pistol round. SRA though, shut them down to land the pistol round.

SRA raced to a 6-0 lead as Brutality were forced to take a Timeout to rethink their strategy. The Ts then decided to execute a fast A long control strategy. But, after taking somewhat of a control of A long, they fell back to hit A short, which forced SRA into a save.

Two more hits through A short yielded results for Brutals as they seemed to have finally found a chink in SRAโ€™s A defence. SRA responded with a brilliant 4v4 retake of the B site to get their seventh round on Dust2.

But, Brutality were unrelenting in their aim to hit SRAโ€™s A defence and closed the gap to within a round. Rix then came up with a 4k to level the scores and force SRA into a weak buy.

SRA though, made the force-buy work, closing the half with an 8-7 scoreline. Brutality decided to take Tunnels control on the pistol round, which caught SRA off-guard.

Brutality managed one more round before SRA broke back to level the scores at 9-9. SRA then raced to a 12-9 lead before a 3k from Rix saw Brutality hit double figures.

SRA though, were unfazed by Rixโ€™s individual skill and maintained their composure to get the remaining rounds. They closed out Dust2 16-10, pushing the series into the decider, Nuke.

Venom seemed to have done enough to start Nuke with a pistol round win on the CT side. But, a cleverly-played 1v2 from Dreamy saw SRA bag the pistol round. But, they fluffed their lines in the anti-eco.

Brutality committed the same crime, with SRA regaining their lead. With momentum on their side, SRA dismantled Brutalityโ€™s defence, rushing to a 6-1 lead. A 4k from Venom on the pistols buy almost secured Brutality their second round but SRA were saved by a molotov.

SRAโ€™s attempt to take Outer control was foiled by Spy as his 2k ensured Brutality finally broke SRAโ€™s streak. The Guru though, responded with a 4k as SRA rushed ramps to break back immediately and reset Brutality.

As has been the case throughout the series, Brutality won the round despite the reset. Brutality managed two more rounds before SRA responded. Brutality were then punished for their halls aggression as they surrendered the last round of the half with SRA leading 10 to 5.

Brutality chose to move quickly through Ramps to the Heavens and hit A, which caught SRA by surprise. Dreamy though, was on point during the entire Nuke and produced a brilliant 3k on the following round to aid SRAโ€™s cause.

SRA then raced to a 13-6 lead before Brutality took the B site successfully after initial trouble to land their seventh round on Nuke. A 3k from Rix saw Brutality bag one more round before SRA retook the B site to break back and push the score to 14-8.

With SRA reaching map point, the pressure was on Brutality to perform. So they did, with a fast A rush through the door. Brutality somehow managed to bring back the deficit to within 4 rounds before Venom added to the hopes of a comeback with a 3k.

Brutality converted the anti-eco to bring themselves with 2 rounds of forcing an Overtime. But, with SRA fully equipped, they shut down the Brutals offence and closed out Nuke 16-13.

With the win, SRA become the third team after Optic India and Entity to land themselves a spot in the Regional LAN Finals of ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND Asia 2018.

What was particularly delightful and refreshing about SRAโ€™s gameplay was their ability to trade instantly and negate man advantages of the opposition. Their rotations often caught Brutality off-guard.

Another interesting highlight was that the entire series boasted of several individual moments. There wasnโ€™t much tactical nous to the play of either team and the rounds often came down to individual brilliance and raw aim.

SRA were the better individuals on the day and displayed the better brand of Counter-Strike. The Kolkata-based team were not among the eight teams to be invited to the Direct Invite Qualifiers. But, this was a statement performance, with SRA beating Invictus 2-0 and then overcoming Brutality – two of the teams who were invited.

Perhaps, this will catapult SRA into recognition and make them a contender for invites to future Indian events.
