Seattle, WA – April 2, 2019 –Make.TVused by leaders in news, esports, sports and entertainment to handle live video in the cloud, announces that its partnership with the world’s largest esports company ESL will see the two companies distribute esports content to fans and enthusiasts worldwide during ESL One Mumbai (April 19-21, 2019).

ESL and Make.TV have been distributing content to esports fans around the world for a number of years via Make.TV’s Live Video Cloud. This extended partnership is the next step in the two companies’ commitment to bringing the best and most extensive esports coverage to both fans and casual viewers – including coverage of the soaring Indian esports community.

ESL One Mumbai 2019 will see twelve of the world’s best Dota 2 teams compete to win US$300,000 and the championship trophy. The event will take place at the NSCI Dome stadium, and marks the first Dota 2 stadium event in Mumbai. Esports fans will be able to watch the tournament through dedicated ESL channels all over the world.

ESL provides esports fans with access to live coverage of all types of content, including blockbusters Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, and many more. This allows ESL to quickly acquire content live from the cameras around the arena, speeds up production and distribution of the content to the TV screens around the venue alongside social media channels and third-party broadcasters.

“The esports audience is growing exponentially, with APAC leading the pack: last year, esports was featured within the Asian Games in Jakarta for the very first time. In India alone, there are 120 million online gamers. Our work with ESL enables us to provide an outlet to these gamers so they can reach the 400 million global esports fans who will be watching either on-site during the event, or online on Twitch or YouTube. This is the future of esports broadcasting and we’re proud to be a part of it,” said Andreas Jacobi, CEO and co-founder at Make.TV.

Make.TV’s Live Video Cloud opens pathways for video to be shared between content creators, producers, programmers and advertisers with scale, speed and relevance previously not possible. It makes it easy to acquire content quickly, handle remote production and deliver content across broadcast, online and social media networks.

Shroud could’ve DIED in the scooter accident

0

Twitch streamer and former CS:GO-pro Mike ‘shroud’ Grzesiek is currently away from the gaming world following his severe scooter accident. The accident was such that he had to undergo surgery on his left elbow.

It was later discovered that the accident was not a minor one when it came into light the professional gamer has another surgery on his way.

Fellow streamer & his housemate Justin ‘Just9n’ Ortiz, explained that shroud is lucky to be alive. He explained that shroud was out riding on his motorized scooter, which Just9n claims tops out at around 55mph – and shroud was going almost max speed at the time.

“He hit the brakes too hard, and he flew over the handle bars about 10 to 12 feet, on to the asphalt. Now, being Mike, he’s looking out for his right arm, he fell on his left arm – all of his weight. He got a bunch of ‘road rash’ from about his hip down to the middle of his thigh, it’s all purple and blue, all fucked up.”

He was also not wearing a helmet at the time, meaning the injuries could have been a lot worse:

“This man could have easily just died, I don’t know if you guys understand the severity of what I’m saying, but he could very literally just not be here with us right now, because of how serious this fall was.”

Cloud9 mix things up with cajunb spice

Cloud9, the North-American organisation, have officially signed René “cajunb” Borg.

On 30th March, Jarek “DeKay” Lewis had reported that cajunb was in talks with Cloud9 and a move to Cloud9 for the 29 year old Dane following his removal from OpTic’s roster, in the latter part of March.

Cloud9 have made multiple roster changes this time. The team recently began a trial for vice, following the departure of flusha, who decided to take an extended break from Counter-Strike due to the unfortunate demise of his mother during IEM Katowice Major 2019.

Cajunb will be used to fill in the spot made by kioShiMa’s departure on the 1st of April 2019. With kioShiMa’s departure, Cloud9 will have to play through the Americas Minor if they stick with this roster as the team has lost majority of the team which played IEM Katowice Major under the Cloud9 banner.

In his own statement, cajun revealed his emotions upon joining the team, “When you join an organization like Cloud9 there will always be a lot of pressure and expectations. I will do my best together with my teammates to make sure we succeed and make the fans proud.”

Jonathan Tran, Cloud9 CS:GO General Manager added, “I’m excited for a veteran like cajunb to begin playing with Cloud9. I believe he can teach our young players a lot from his years of experience in Counter-Strike. Welcome to the C9FAM.”

To conclude, Jack Etienne, Cloud9 CEO & Owner said, “It’s rare to see such an extensive esports career as cajunb has, so we’re really pleased about getting a chance to work with him. Welcome to Cloud9, cajunb!”

The following team will be competing at BLAST Pro Series Miami, on the 12th and 13th of April:

Former Esports Star Arrested In Tokyo For Thefts

4

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a former video game world champion over a burglary in Nerima Ward earlier this year. During questioning, he admitted to dozens of other similar break-ins, reports TBS News (Apr. 1).

On an afternoon in February, Tomoyuki Inui, 33, of no known occupation, gained access to the residence of an 84-year-old woman by smashing a window. He then allegedly stole 2.6 million yen in cash that she kept in the living room.

“With my video game activities winding down, I turned to [burglaries] to cover living costs,” the suspect, a residence of Tachikawa City, was quoted by police in admitting to the allegations. He added that he carried out about 100 similar break-ins over the past three years.

The detainee has, under the name “Katsuninken”, won the Dead or alive Ultimate tournament in Singapore, 2005. For this endeavor, he received $15,000 (~$19,800 adjusted to inflation). After this, he did not participate in the DoA 4 tournaments in 2006 and 2007. Eventually, support for Dead or Alive series died, even though the Esports industry itself exploded.

Vega Squadron add scoobyxie and seized

0

Vega Squadron have begun revamping their roster, which would have been announced shortly after announcing that they have benched Pavel “hutji” Lashkov and Anton “tonyblack” Kolesnikov on their website.

Seized and scoobyxie spent their time after being cut from Gambit on the ranks of a new organisation, namely Runtime. Runtime has now disbanded their organisation, only two months after their inception. The change comes after the team failed to qualify for the IEM Katowice Major in 2019 through the CIS Minor. The players have been free agents since then.

In a statement on the Vega Squadron website, Dmitriy “jR” Chervak said, “it’s hard to start all over again, a completely new team is formed and the optimal roles for the players are getting selected. Denis and Alexander displayed great results in practice and we hope to reach good condition as soon as possible to please our fans with great results.”

Vega Squadron have confirmed that the fifth player will be announced soon.

The addition of Seized and scoobyxie, Vega now have

Gujarat Government lifts ban on PUBG after massive outrage

2

The Government of the state of Gujarat in India had banned anyone from playing PUBG in early March.

At the time, they called it “highly addictive” as well as indicated it was inciting violence among teenagers playing the game. It seems they may have changed their tune now however.

The boycott wasn’t at any point expected to be lasting, however it was relied upon to be set up from March 9 to April 30. Somewhere around five different urban communities in Gujarat, including Ahmadabad, participate on the boycott.

The neighborhood police had issued a notice saying violators would be reserved under Section 188 of the IPC. Actually they did only that, capturing something like 10 individuals around the city essentially for playing a cell phone amusement. What’s more, not in rush hour gridlock or anything, yet while taking a seat off to the side at different areas.

The ban on the game went so far as to arrest six college students they found playing PUBG, somehow justifying to themselves that an “addictive” game is worse for a young person’s future than an arrest on your permanent record.

Valve teases fans with new VR headset Valve Index

0

WASHINGTON [USA]: Valve quietly announced its all-new VR headset called Valve Index. The company posted an image of the headset on its website with scarce details and promise of more information in May.

Valve, the company behind popular gaming titles such as Half-Life and Portal, and DotA 2, also runs Steam online game store.

Valve Index

Until now, Valve was pictured as a helping partner to HTC to build its Vive headsets. With Valve coming up with its own headset is likely to surprise the existing players, Cnet reports.

The image posted on the website does not hint at any specifications, but given that Valve has been behind technology powering the Vive headsets, one can expect the Valve Index to be a high-end device.

Report: Global Esports venturing into more than just squads

0

According to sources, Global Esports is set to venture beyond its current Esports teams and expand to possibly an academy for aspiring young talents or A Game Studio for production.

While the source did not divulge further details, we were provided with 2 links, gea.gg and ges.gg, which were landing pages for Global Esports that read “Academy Coming Soon” and “Studios coming Soon” respectively.

While it is open for speculation on what this actually means, it is certainly a sign of more things to come. Could there be an esports university? A streaming Studio? Could they be in Game Production? It is all up in the air now and one can only guess at this point.

Global Esports currently has a mix of Indian and International squads for various titles such as Overwatch, Fortnite Rainbow Six Seige, and most recently Counter Strike Global Offensive, in which their roster having been together for around a month qualified for the COBX Masters 2019, and will be pitted against some of the best Asian teams.

It is expected that over the next few weeks, an announcement is due by Global Esports. Till then, all we can do is sit and speculate.
