Epic bans use of stretched resolution in Fortnite Tournaments and Arena

0

Epic the creator of Fortnite just announced that they won’t allow players to use stretched resolutions in competitions or arena and the game will be locked at 16:9 resolutions. This update comes just days before the Fortnite World Cup event.

Previously players were able to switch 16:9 aspect ratio to 4:3 making the resolution stretched which helped in increasing fps as well as made spotting enemies easier in many cases. Playing with stretched resolution in competitive tournaments gave an advantage to these players making it unfair for those who preferred to play in 16:9 aspect ratio. Although this change is debatable and many don’t favour it but some pros like Ninja think that it is for better, as the players with stretched resolution had an unfair advantage and now with this change, the playing field will be levelled amongst pros.

But some pros came out opposed this change and took twitter to talk about it. Players like team Liquid’s Jake “POACH” Brumleve said:

Another player from Team liquid, Chap said :

Although some had a neutral stance on this and questioned why change something so significant when a tournament is nearby. Luminosity gaming’s SypherPk said :

Epic is yet to comment anything on this and rather took the silent approach, than trying to do damage control. Community is in uproar with this change since time to qualify for world cup event is closing in. For players to get used to new settings it will take time and some argue that it is unfair for them and they won’t be able to qualify now with such a significant change coming on short notice.

0

Swole Patrol have been org-less since a long time and were in desperate need in one before the start of ESL Pro League Season 9. The slot earned by Braxton “swag” Pierce and Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro by being promoted from ESEA MDL Season 29.

The team consists of swag, the only standing member of the team after the IEM Sydney Qualifier saw three member of the team being picked up by eUnited and s0m leaving later on to join Team Envy. The second player is Subroza who was replaced by freakazoid on Ghost and had been teamless since. Next up is Gage “Infinite” Green who has been accused of using a racial slur on LAN and was also removed from Team Singularity citing issues in the personality between the players which hampered their progress. Lastly, Zellsis will be completing the roster who was being trialed by Cloud9. However, that plan did not materialise and the North-American Organisation parted ways with him.

Lazarus is no stranger to the CSGO scene. The organisation used the banner of SetToDestroyX, before undergoing rebranding. They have a female Counter-Strike team called Lazarus fe who last stood second at WESG.

The Swole Patrol Roster, now Lazarus, will debut on LAN in ESL Pro League group B, where they have been matched against compLexity, Ghost, and Liquid.

The focus of the event was too aware parents about the issue of mental health of their kids and how easy it is for kids to absorb negative influence easily and hard for parents to get rid of it. Many believe that the issue arises with the rise of ease of access to social media and how it remains non regulated against these negative influences.

Prince Harry said: “There’s too much negativity surrounding mental health and it must be so hard for young people to talk about it. ‘Social media is more addictive than drugs and alcohol, and it’s more dangerous because it’s normalised and there are no restrictions to it. ‘We are in quite a mind-altering time, but quite an exciting time, because everyone in this room has the opportunity to make a real difference.’ Later on, he suggests that games are bad for kids and have a bad influence. He said: ‘A game like Fortnite, for instance, may not be so good for children. Parents have got their hands up; they don’t know what to do about it”.

Later on, he said: “It’s like waiting for the damage to be done and kids turning up on your doorsteps and families being broken down. Fortnite shouldn’t be allowed. Where is the benefit in having that game in your household? ‘It’s created to addict – an addiction to keep you in front of a computer for as long as possible. It’s so irresponsible.’

What Prince Harry was suggesting is that games like Fortnite are to addictive for kids and make them irresponsible and hampers growth of their minds. The addictive nature of these games makes it hard for parents to control kids and at times kids will stay put on their gaming device for long hours to only play Fortnite.

Although this news wasn’t taken lightly by fans on twitter and many started calling Prince Harry a hypocrite and being patronizing. Some of the highlights are as follows :

https://twitter.com/Elliemcdonald29/status/1113694959708909569
https://twitter.com/TL_Mason/status/1113701268445376512

There were many responses to this news but those were too brutal ( too much gore ) to share on this article with people actually going out of their way and asking Prince to mind his own business and leave the game alone. What’s your take on this, will banning a game actually solve any of these issues with access to other similar games with same theme?

CSGO Youtuber ChaBoyyHD opens 500 Prisma Cases in case opening

0

A CSGO Youtuber by the name of ChaboyyHD has spent over 2000 dollars in opening 500 Prisma Cases for a video.

The massive case opening was promised if he hit 50000 likes in his previous video and he not only lived up to it, but exceeded his commitment by 400 cases. Prisma cases on April 3 costed around $2, with an additional $1.25 for the keys costing him a whopping $2250.

However, the caveat is that he revealed that he was sponsored by CSGOempire, possibly for the entire opening, so it is wrong to assume that he fully paid for the opening just for his fans. In his opening, he got just 3 cases with knives, and although he got a very rare Stattrack Navaja in Factory New Condition, it was an underwhelming result to say the least.

This is not the end of the opening, as the Youtuber has challenged the community yet again, promising 1000 cases if he hits 100k likes on this video. While the video has already hit 35k likes, it remains to be seen whether it can acheieve the mammoth number of a lac.
