Upthrust Esports announce BGMI Wings Battlefest

Upthrust Esports is hosting a big Battlegrounds Mobile India tournament in association with audio electronic company, Wings Lifestyle and is supported by Loco, India’s leading streaming platform. This tournament is called Wings Battlefest and a total of 27 teams will fight to win the largest chunk of ₹2,00,000 prize pool.

This tournament will be hosted over the period of five days and will have two stages. Currently, the teams will be battling out in the Semi final stages for three consecutive days.

The 27 participating rosters are distributed in three groups A, B and C with nine teams in each group. The teams will be playing three matches each day in the round robin format. Top sixteen teams in the scoreboard will be advancing to the grand finals.

Wings Battlefest will begin from 27th September and run over the next five days and will be concluded on 1st October. The Semi Finals Match schedule is as follows:

  • Day 1 (27 Sep) – 12PM Onwards (Erangel, Miramar, Erangel)
  • Day 2 (28 Sep) – 12PM Onwards (Erangel, Miramar, Erangel)
  • Day 3 (29 Sep) – 12PM Onwards (Erangel, Miramar, Erangel)

Top sixteen teams will advance for grand finals and after a rigorous battle over two days, winners will be awarded with bragging rights and ₹1,00,000 prize money.

  • 2nd Place – ₹50,000

Top Fragger will also get a prize of ₹10,000. Viewers can watch their favourite teams in battlegrounds by visiting the official YouTube and Loco Channel of Upthrust Esports.

Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodiya attends Prize Distribution Ceremony of ESPL 2021

Esports Premier League 2021 was one of the biggest Free Fire tournaments of the year and has concluded as a successful event with Mumbai Marshalls winning the event. The Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Mr. Manish Sisodiya, was invited for this event and hosted the main Prize Distribution event to felicitate the winners.

ESPL 2021 left a footprint in Free Fire esports to become the first ever IPL-themed event in the world and also was one of the largest tournaments hosted in India for Free Fire without Garena as the host. This tournament had a massive prize pool of $25 Lakh and as a result, a huge chunk of Indian player base participated for this tournament.

ESPL crossed a total of 1 million registrations in India and the teams went to rigorous qualifiers to reach the city-based group stages. A total of eight teams represented eight cities in India and battled for glory and monetary rewards.

Sports Ministers from various cities endorsed ESPL by inaugurating the logos and jerseys of respective teams. Various figureheads from different industries have been the part of ESPL. Bollywood star Tiger Shroff was brought in as the brand ambassador of this tournament.

TSM FTX was playing under the name of Mumbai Marshalls for ESPL 2021 and won the tournament. The organizers hosted an award ceremony to give away the prizes for this event and Delhi Deputy CM Mr. Manish Sisodiya was invited for this event as one of the special guests and award felicitator.

Mr. Sisodiya awarded the teams and players for achieving impressive feats throughout this tournament and gave a small speech, encouraging the rising popularity of esports in India.

FIFA 22 Ultimate Team made XQC rage quit and uninstall the game

While the FIFA 22 official launch just needs a few more days, players with early access have already started jumping into the world of FUT 22. The popular Canadian streamer Félix “xQc” Lengyel also decided to play FUT 22 on 25th September.

However, FIFA 22 didn’t fit well with xQc. After playing FUT 22 Ultimate Team for two hours, xQC conceded 6 goals before halftime in his last match. The match was literally unwinnable for the Canadian streamer as the score was 6-0. In the 82nd minute, he conceded the seventh goal which made him vexed. He said,

I’m gonna say it: soccer is one of the most dogs**t sports to ever exist, it’s an embarrassment to humankind. I said it, get mad. Keep malding, and I want to make sure people understand: it is not football, it’s soccer.

After the end of the match with an 8-2 score, xQc closed the game and uninstalled it from his computer. Apparently, xQc didn’t like FIFA 22 at all even after spending enough time building his FUT team.

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack: All known N64 & Sega Genesis games

Nintendo Switch’s paid online subscription will soon expand with the introduction of N64 and Sega Genesis titles that will be playable on the handheld. This new subscription is set to launch this October and will increase Switch’s already gigantic game library.

While Nintendo has yet to reveal more details and pricing, here are some of the known upcoming N64 and Genesis games that will be available for the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.

Although the initial N64 & Sega Genesis lineup is disappointingly limited as compared to 100+ NES and Super NES games, it’s fair to say that Nintendo is testing waters here as games like Mario Kart 64 will now be playable online with friends in 4 player races, although it remains to see how it’ll be implemented as Switch Online only allows player co-op functionality.

Nintendo has also announced wireless N64 and Sega Genesis controllers for Switch Online members which will be available later this year for $49.99 each.

Previously reported by TalkEsport, Team Liquid on Twitter have announced the addition of Nabil “⁠Nivera⁠” Benrlitom to their active Valorant squad as the community will now see the former Vitality rifler team up with his brother Adil “ScreaM” Benriltom who had made the switch to Valorant back in 2020. Nivera replaced James “Kryptix” Affleck as the latter temporarily moved away from the game citing personal issues. 

Nivera initially signed up for Team Vitality as the sixth player of their CSGO division, who would be utilized as a substitute over either Richard “Shox” Papillon or Kévin “⁠misutaaa⁠” Rabier on the main squad. During his time with the French side, Nivera notably won the BLAST Premier: Fall Finals 2020 where they breezed past through Astralis in the Grand Finals and Intel Extreme Masters XV – Beijing Online: Europe to secure his team a spot at the Global Challenge event organized by the same. 

Not long after he was benched by the team in wake of the updated rule set published by Valve which imposed a penalty upon teams if they used substitutes in between their ongoing matches at the Regional Major Ranking (RMR) events. This was when he decided to venture into Valorant and was shortlisted by Team Liquid in May only to be contracted under the same, four months later. Currently Team Liquid will field Nivera in place of Kryptix who has gone on a hiatus due to personal reasons.

With the addition of Nivera, Team Liquid are now:

Valorant: FaZe Clan sign JDM as head coach

FaZe Clan on Twitter have announced the addition of Josh “JDM” Marzano as the head coach for their Valorant division while Thomas “Trippy” Schappy now transitions to the role of assistant coach. . This marks the veteran’ return to competition after a break of two years, having played last for Team Envy.

Earlier in May 2020, Marzano revealed his plans to pursue a career in Valorant and retired from playing Counter Strike, professionally. He quickly rose through the ranks in Counter Strike: Global Offensive after a brief stint with Counter Logic Gaming only to culminate his success which saw Team Liquid sign the American Sniper to the team alongside Nicholas “nitr0” Cannella, Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski, Spencer “Hiko” Martin and Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev. Under JDM, Liquid notably finished second at the ESL One: Cologne major in 2016 despite suffering a defeat at the hands of Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo led SK Gaming. 

As said above, JDM returns to competition after almost two years of inactivity but in a different game and role. This would be the first time we would see him anchor his team on the mic from the booth and not on the server. 

JDM will debut with FaZe Clan at the upcoming VCT North America Last Chance Qualifier as they still bear a shot towards the Valorant Champions, to take place later in 2021. FaZe Clan currently sit on the 7th position after Version1 with 120 points in their bag. The VCT: NA LCQ starts on October 12.

VCT APAC Last Chance: Shinobi to coach Global Esports

Bhavin “HellrangeR”  Kotwani from Global Esports on Twitter has announced the addition of Josh “shinobi” Abastado to their Valorant division and will guide the team throughout the APAC Last Chance Qualifier.  

After their triumph over Velocity Gaming at the Nodwin powered Valorant Conquerors Championship in South Asia, Global Esports managed to secure the lone spot at the APAC LCQ tournament, a final passage towards the Valorant Champions, a global event to be held later this year in Berlin. Since then, the team has absolutely been on Cloud 9 as the Indian Valorant community now looks forward to watching Global Esports represent their region, further in the VCT circuit. 

It has now been confirmed that Shinobi has temporarily taken up the reins as a head coach at Global Esports and will work with the team ahead of the APAC Last Chance Qualifier. This was indeed confirmed by Ganesh “SkRossi” Gangadhar while streaming on YouTube as it was earlier hinted by the former and HellrangeR as well. Earlier, HellrangeR had posted on Twitter, to find his team an international coach/analyst, surprisingly to which they signed Shinobi. Global Esports will travel to Thailand for their boot camp and compete at the forthcoming tournament to neutralize the massive latency between them and the rest of the teams.

Shinobi once was a part of the founding Cloud9 Blue Valorant squad until both parties decided to part ways in December 2020. During his time with Cloud9, he steered the North American organization to a plethora of top three finishes involving runner-ups at Pulse and PAX Area Invitationals. The 27 year-old will now help Global Esports chalk out their plans for the VCT APAC LCQ although this won’t be a full-time opportunity for the ex-Cloud9 In-game leader.

Arcane, League Of Legends Anime Adaptation Gets A Release Date

Arcane, Netflix’s adaptation of Riot’s hugely popular MOBA game, League Of Legends just got a release date announcement accompanied by an extended trailer teasing the intense action and drama-packed story set in the world of LoL. 

Yesterday (25th Sept), Netflix announced the release date of Act-1 of Arcane during its annual Tudum event. The 3-hour long Tudum event was packed with various announcements and reveals including teasers for Stranger Things’ fourth season, Cowboy Bebop, Cobra Kai’s fourth season, La Casa de Papel (aka Money Heist), Arcane, and Witcher Season 2. 

Arcane is a series developed and produced by Riot Games is “set in utopian Piltover and the oppressed underground of Zaun, the story follows the origins of two iconic League champions— and the power that will tear them apart.” Arcane follows the backstories of two of the LoL’s most popular champions — sisters Jinx and Vi. The story revolves around the delicate balance and tension between the rich city of Piltover and the seedy underbelly of Zaun. Other characters from the League of Legends universe set to make an appearance in the show includes Jayce, Caitlyn, Silco, Mel, Vander, and Viktor. 

The cast of the show is filled with celebrities such as Hailee Steinfeld playing Vi, and Ella Purnell playing Jinx. Other League characters set to make an appearance are voice acted by Katie Leung as Caitlyn, Kevin Alejandro as Jayce, Jason Spisak as Silco, Toks Olagundoye as Mel, JB Blanc as Vander, and Harry Lloyd as Viktor.

The show is structured into three distinct acts with three episodes per act. The first three episodes focus on the very beginnings of the two sisters (from the League of Legends video game) and will launch on November 6. The second act will launch a week later on November 13, and the third act will release on November 20.

ESPL became first ever IPL-styled Free Fire event in the world

Free Fire Esports has recently gained a lot of traction in India as the game has been attracting large player base and fans towards their competitive side. ESPL was the first franchise or IPL formatted Free Fire tournament which recently concluded with immense success.

Esports Premier League gave a big opportunity to Indian Free Fire players to participate in an open-for-all tournament and climb their way through multiple qualifiers for competing with the professional teams.

The initial qualifiers saw some insane number of participation as a total registrations crossed 1 Million mark. This impressive feat was a result of organizers’ effort to promote the tournament to very grassroot levels.

Multiple teams fought through rigorous levels of competition and finally, eight teams were distributed in an IPL-styled format with each roster representing a city. After a long battle, Mumbai Marshalls emerged victorious and walked away with ₹12 Lakhs and bragging rights.

The organizers also tried to represent ESPL as a blend of traditional sports and rising esports industry. Sports Ministers of Mumbai, Punjab, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, and Rajasthan extended their support for ESPL and sent wishes for their respective teams.

Famous Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff was also signed as the brand ambassador for ESPL and such collaborations made this event a huge hit. Apart from various partnerships, ESPL have attained some incredible feats. The livestreams have cumulatively attained more than 100 million views and have made 200+ million impressions.

TSM FTX played for Mumbai under the name of Mumbai Marshalls and dominated in the tournament by having a steady upper hand in fights. They won the biggest chunk of ₹25,00,000 prize pool and lifted the trophy at the awards ceremony.
