Battlefield 2042 Stickers Added to CSGO Ahead of Game’s Release

Valve shipped a new update to their premium FPS, Counter Strike: Global Offensive. The new update includes the Battlefield 2042 sticker capsule, to mark the release of the New Battlefield on Steam.

BF2042 releases November 19th and will be available globally. As of now the game is in early access and only a handful of people have gotten to play the game, mostly content creators.

Battlefield V was the last title in the series and came out in 2018 and received major updates until the summer of 2020. The new game is also a nod to the first Battlefield, Battlefield 1942 that came out 15 years ago in 2006.

This isnt the first time Valve has added stickers that commemorate a different game as previously Halo Stickers as well as Half-Life Alyx stickers had also been added to the game.

The new BF 2042 sticker capsule consists of 12 Unique Designs with 10 Paper stickers, 4 Holo and 3 Foil Stickers and is available for purchase in-game in CSGO.

NaVi Open To Offers for mONESY According to Sources

In a new development, sources have told Dexerto and 1pv.fr that Natus Vincere might be open to hear offers for their 16 year old prodigy Ilya ‘mONESY’ Osipov. The rumours about him going to another org – on loan or as a transfer have only heated as of late, with many players and analysts weighing their opinion on how the move COULD pan out.

‘mONESY’ first caught everyone’s eye 2 years ago with his monumental rise on Faceit, as he was signed by NaVi Junior. He quickly climbed up the Faceit ladders, and his incredible skill earned him an invite to FPL.

FPL aka Faceit Pro League is a hub by Faceit where only the best of the best play 5v5 competitive games. It includes only the top professionals and other players who have grinded their way to the top. Since then he has been a regular on Twitch.tv and has nearly 400k followers on the platform.

Since then he has only gone from strength to strength, helping NaVi Junior finish as Runners up of the second season of WePlay Academy League – a tournament for all the Junior and academy teams of orgs to nurture the talents of the young guns from an early age and prepare them for tier 1 CS.

mONESY has a HLTV rating of 1.36, which is more than impressive to say the least. But with NaVi in their best form ever, and every role sorted out for them it is highly unlikely he could make it to the main team any time soon.

More importantly, he is an AWPer and s1mple being s1mple, cant be replaced so easily, at least not for the next 2-3 years as he said himself on the HLTV confirmed podcast.

Hence, NaVi have decided that they may be open for offers for the 16-year-old prodigy. With teams looking to start afresh after the Major, teams like G2 and others in need of a prolific AWPer could very well sign him and reap the rewards.

Official: G2 To Replace Coach maLeK, More Changes Expected for 2022

Long standing G2 Coach Damien ‘maLeK’ Marcel is on his way out after spending 3 years with the org, and having seen a plethora of roster changes for the Squad. He first joined as coach in 2018, when G2 replaced ‘SmithZz’ and ‘Ex6TenZ’ with ‘Lucky’ and ‘JacKz’ and decided to make ‘shox’ the in-game leader.

According to maLeK, the decision had been made a few weeks prior to the Major and thanked his team for the opportunity.

maLeK has been part of 3 Major campaigns for G2 – IEM Katowice 2019, StarLadder Berlin 2019 and PGL Stockholm 2021. They couldtn even make it to the Playoffs in the first 2, but managed to make it to the Grand Finals of PGL Stockholm, giving NaVi a tough fight but eventually losing out.

Following dwindling results, especially the habit of losing in finals, G2 have decided to replace maLeK with Serbian IGL and coach Luka ‘emi’ Vukovic. Emi played for Funplus Phoenix until November 2021, before the org decided to pull out of CSGO. Before playing for FPX, emi had previously played for Contact Gaming and CR4ZY – both as coach and IGL as well.

According to other sources, more changes are to follow as G2 decided to bring in another AWPer to replace Francois ‘AmaNEk’ Delaunay. It was with ‘AmaNEk’ that G2 made it to the finals of the last 2 LANs after the addition of NiKo, but it seems that there’s still something missing for them as they haven’t won a single trophy since his signing, more news is awaited about the changes.

Microsoft launches Xbox Cloud Gaming For Xbox One And Series X/S

0

Microsoft has recently announced that a limited number of Xbox Game Pass Ulitmate subscribers will get a chance to try out the beta version of the Xbox Cloud Gaming service on their Xbox One and Series X/S consoles starting 17th November.

Xbox Cloud Gaming service will first make its debut on consoles only and will be available to a limited number of users only in 25 regions, including the United States, UK, Australia, and much of Europe.

Eligible users will find a cloud icon under-supported titles in their console’s Game Pass library. Games supported by Cloud service can be launched immediately without the need for any download. Microsoft calls Xbox Cloud Gaming a “great way to discover your next favourite game while saving space on your hard drive for the games you plan to play again and again.”

Do note that the service may not be immediately available on your console right after startup without the installation of a new system update which you might need to trigger manually through the settings menu. Once installed your console will be ready to launch any cloud compatible game without any further downloads.

The launch of the Xbox Cloud Gaming service has brought a new life to the previous-gen Xbox One consoles that can now play certain next-gen Xbox Series X/S titles via streaming, including the likes of The Medium, Recompile, and The Riftbreaker.

Microsoft also said that they are working on expanding the cloud game library and trying to include more next-gen titles over time, with Microsoft Flight Simulator currently set to be supported in “early 2022”. Microsoft plans to scale the service to all gamers in supported markets over the coming weeks. As for those on PC, Microsoft didn’t announce anything about bringing the service to the PC Xbox app.

Activision Blizzard employees demand Bobby Kotick’s resignation

0

Activision Blizzard CEO, Bobby Kotick has recently come under fire for his alleged ignorance towards years of sexual misconducts reports within the company. While Kotick publicly disputed these claims, others from the gaming industry were unhappy with the response of Activision Blizzard against such allegations.

PlayStation Chief, Jim Ryan was one of the first to condemn the response of Activision Blizzard against such major allegations against CEO Bobby Kotick which resulted in employee walkout and shareholders demanding resignation from the CEO.

Bloomberg reported that Jim Ryan was “disheartened and frankly stunned” at these allegations and extremely disappointed in Activision’s handling of the situation. In an email to Bloomberg, Jim wrote that Activision Blizzard “has not done enough to address a deep-seated culture of discrimination and harassment.” Ryan also added: “We do not believe their statements of response properly address the situation.”

On Tuesday, a report by WallStreetJournal noted that CEO Bobby Kotick was aware for years of allegations of sexual misconduct at the video game giant. The report also alleged that Bobby Kotick failed to inform the company’s board of directors of “everything he knew”, including a 2018 settlement with a former employee at one of Activision’s studios who was allegedly raped by a supervisor. The lengthy report cites unnamed sources as well as internal company emails and documents.

Later in a statement issued on Tuesday, the Activision Blizzard board of directors said they remain confident in Kotick’s leadership.

Under Bobby Kotick’s leadership the company is already implementing industry-leading changes including a zero-tolerance harassment policy, a dedication to achieving significant increases to the percentages of women and non-binary people in our workforce, and significant internal and external investments to accelerate opportunities for diverse talent,” reads the statement. “The board remains confident that Bobby Kotick appropriately addressed workplace issues brought to his attention.”

Later a report by The Washington Post mentioned that a group of Shareholders called Strategic Organizing Center (SOC) Investment Group had written a letter to the board of directors calling for Bobby Kotick’s immediate resignation.

StreamlabsOBS To Remove OBS Branding From Name Amid Plagiarism Controversy

0

Logitech’s Streamalabs came under the scanner of the internet after OBS tweeted out saying that the brand is plagiarising on its brand without permission and creating confusion among customers.

OBS Project, also known as the Open Broadcaster Software is one of the first and the only open-source platform. OBS was launched in 2012 and has been the backbone of many other streaming platforms. Whereas, Streamlabs is a private brand wholly owned by Logitech.

OBS alleged that Streamlabs had used their brand name even after the OBS team had prohibited them from using its name in any service. OBS tried to seek out this matter in private before but the Streamlabs team was uncooperative and even trademarked the “SLOBS” name.

OBS also explained yesterday how the use of its name in Streamlabs’ “SLOBS” has caused problems over the years for support volunteers.

“We’re often faced with confused users and even companies who do not understand the difference between the two apps. We’ve had interactions with several companies who did not realize our apps were separate.” – said OBS on Twitter

Partnered streamers also called out Streamlabs and asked them to rectify the allegations as soon as possible. Most notably, Pokimane threatened to drop the service in favor of another donation service.

https://twitter.com/imane/status/1460818399374692355

Another Twitch partner, Anne Munition admitted that the names were confusing and she always thought OBS and Streamlabs had a partnered service.

“I thought SLOBS was a collaborative project between OBS and SL, I had no idea they just used the name against your wishes…”Anne Munition said on Twitter.

Streamlabs issued a public apology to OBS and said that they are immediately going to remove “OBS” from its name and take responsibility for its actions.

But copying OBS’s name isn’t the only time when Streamlabs had copied over other works. Livestream, a cloud-based livestreaming service also alleged Streamlabs of plagiarizing its website layout and design.

To this Streamlabs issued an apology and said that the text was a “placeholder” that went into production by error. They removed the text as soon as it was spotted and updated the site to the intended version.

Are Esports easier or more difficult to bet on than more traditional sports?

0

As CNN reported in 2018, eSports has undergone a dramatic transformation in a few short years from a niche interest to an explosive multi-billion dollar industry followed by hundreds of millions of enthusiasts around the world. That interest has grown substantially in the intervening years.

When lockdown canceled many sports events in 2020, more people than ever before began making the switch from betting on real-world sports to betting on eSports, as evidenced by the recent stampede of bookmakers to offer to bet on competitive video games and virtual events.

So, what’s easier to bet on: traditional sports or esports? Here’s a quick rundown.

Esports fans tend to have more knowledge about the genre than the bookmakers

People coming to eSports tend to become very knowledgeable about their new enthusiasm rather quickly. That puts them at an advantage over those who stick to betting on traditional sports because bookmakers are still relatively new to this, and while they know a lot about traditional sports, they often know less than the fans do when it comes to eSports.

That means that eSports enthusiasts are more likely to be equipped with expert knowledge to figure out the most favorable, best-value bets that offer better odds than those available for traditional sports. This is particularly true if they follow specialist websites such as Odds Preview, which brings its fast-expanding pool of regular visitors authoritative daily betting news and odds guidance on upcoming real-world and eSports events.

The best odds in eSports are continually evolving – to the benefit of the bettor

Sports bettors understand that the odds for specific teams tend to remain fairly static from one season to the next. However, this is not the case in the eSports arena, where developers frequently update their software, “buffing” (improving) some player-characters while “nerfing” (diminishing) the skills of others. That changes the odds you can expect substantially – even for the matches where the same two teams are pitted against each other. If you’re knowledgeable about this, you’ll be better able to take it into account when betting.

What about injuries and player fatigue?

There are lots of contingencies to be considered when betting on traditional sports, including the thorny issues of player fatigue and injuries. These can adversely affect odds for weeks or longer. With digitally-fashioned contestants, however, that uncertainty can be almost entirely avoided.

Nevertheless, there are injuries to contend with in esports. Digital players are operated by human agents, and if that human agent develops a repetitive motion injury such as tennis elbow – like DOTA 2 player Clinton “Fear” Loomis – that can impair their speed and efficiency with the mouse, it will impact their performance.

In other words, eSports betters still have to contend with player injuries and assess how the absence of the human operator might affect odds in the game.

The main difference, however, is that injuries among eSports operators are far less common than they are among traditional sports athletes, making the outcome of eSports events more predictable for the most part.

Finally, weather is unlikely to play any part in the outcome of eSports the way it can (and often does) with traditional sports.

Betting on traditional sports is here to stay, and the same is now true of betting on esports, too.
