0

Valorant, Riot’s FPS, has been a resounding success since its release in 2020, thanks to its unique blend of tactical shooting mechanics and ability-based gameplay along with a wide selection of incredible-looking cosmetics that indeed have enticed the player-base to grind the game out.

A new skinline “Neptune” has been introduced in the first person tactical shooter which is an aquarium themed bundle and has five weapon cosmetics to be added to the game’s arsenal. The weapons from the Neptune skinline will have 2 Variants, Black and White alongside effects although no finisher has been deployed as a part of the customizable upgrades.

Prior to the official announcement, the developers had teased the Neptune skinline with an aquarium-based tweet which almost hinted toward a new aesthetic pattern being inculcated into Valorant.

The Neptune skin bundle will replace the ongoing Titanmail iteration of weapon skins on the market. As yet, the price of the Neptune skinline hasn’t been revealed by Valorant but it is rumored to be around 7100 Valorant Points with individual pricing set to that of 1775 Valorant points.

Brazil to host IEM: Rio Major 2022

ESL and Intel Extreme Masters on their Twitter handle have confirmed that the next major event of Counter Strike: Global Offensive will be held in Rio De Janeiro in Brazil. The tournament will run from October 31 till the 13th of November with 24 teams to battle through the event for that Major Championship alongside a lion’s share of $500,000 USD from the $1M prize pool.

With this massive announcement from ESL, the IEM Rio major now stands confirmed after the game developer’s most recent tweet indeed hinted towards the same.

Initially the IEM: Rio Major, which would have been the 16th major in the history of CSGO was supposed to take place in 2020 but was sabotaged by the Coronavirus Pandemic and was later replaced by PGL. As yet, no changes have been introduced in the format of the said tournament which states that 24 teams would be able to compete across three stages of the Major namely Challengers, Legends, and the Champions.

The Challengers Stage would be a classic 16-team Swiss Stage with the top eight teams qualifying for the Legends Stage and the remaining eight would be eliminated from contention. Advancement and elimination match-ups would rely on a Best of 3 results while all other matches would be Best of 1s. The Legends Stage would follow the same format as Challengers.

Skyesports Champions Series Group Stage Day 6 Recap

0

The final day of the Skyesports Champion series group stage had only two matches, the first one wasn’t a crucial one but was entertaining to see a team win without dropping a game, whilst the second one largely affected the qualification status and seeding of group B.

Summary of results SCS Group stage final Day

  • Enigma Gaming 2-0 Khumbu Esports
  • Team Valor 2-1 Prime 5

Match 1: Enigma Gaming 2-0 Khumbu Esports

The game was a seeding game for Enigma gaming with the win they were the undisputed first seed of Group A, absolutely dominating the group with only dropping 1 map in the whole group stage. While Khumbu despite losing both all the games displayed great potential and would prepare for the next season.

The game started on Ascent with Enigma on attack managed to tear through Khumbu’s defense with the triple duelist composition and won the half 9-3, Now on defense despite losing the pistols, Enigma managed to close the game 13-5

Now onto Bind, Khumbu managed to win the first two rounds but couldn’t convert this further losing the half 4-8, while on defense they only managed to hold off enigma for 2 rounds losing the map 6-13 and the game 0-2.

Khumbu was already out of the tournament and this win would’ve been a good parting gift for them but anyways they are a talented group of individuals and I hope they win more in the future.

Match 2: Team Valor 2-1 Prime 5

Team Valor, The Indian qualifier champion, started the group stage with two consecutive losses against Enigma gaming and Global Esports and despite the rocky start managed to pull themselves together to win against Revenant and Khumbu and had a slim chance to qualify today if they manage to drop less than 3 rounds.

While Prime 5 was already done for could use another win as a consolation prize.

The Game started with prime 5’s Icebox pick with prime 5 on defense and the first half went their way with them winning the half 8-4. The second half started well with prime 5 reaching 12 while Team valor was still on 9, But Valor managed to hold off Prime 5’s attack to force overtime.

In OT though after exchanging back to back defensive rounds for 2 OT’s Prime 5 managed to close the game 16-14

Haven was a similar story with Team Valor winning the first half closely 7-5 while on defense Team Valor only managed to win 1 round out of the starting 7 rounds. Now with prime 5 already on 11, Team Valor had to win all the remaining rounds to win and so they did contain Prime 5’s Attack, again and again, to push the game to the decider.

The decider of Bind was an easy ride for team valor since they managed to win the first half 9-3 and close the third map 13-6 and win the series 2-1.  FOX was the MVP with 70 kills and 261 ACS.

Despite the win, Team Valor can’t make it to the Chennai LAN since they lost more than 3 rounds. With this, we get all the qualifying teams and the seeding.

From Group A, Enigma Gaming becomes the first seed while Global Esports and Revenant Esports are the second and third seeds.

While from Group B, Orangutan manages to be the first seed, Velocity on second, and full power gaming becomes the third seed.

All these six teams would battle it out in a double-elimination bracket in order to win the chance to represent South Asia at stage 2 VCT APAC challengers. All the matches would be on LAN and the city is Chennai. I hope the city is ready for some exciting Valorant from 31st May. I hope the best teams represent South Asia and eventually put South Asia on the global Valorant stage.

“South Asia Arise” Skyesports Champions Series official Anthem

Today marks the last day for the Round Robin group stage of the Skyesports Champions Series. The 6 days long group stage had some amazing valorant and it sure matched the hype of all the international tournaments. With 4 teams already qualified for the Playoffs in Chennai.

Skyesports announced a hype anthem for supporting the SA teams.

We saw the first look of the “South Asia Arise” anthem today on Skyesport’s Twitter feed featuring SkRossi for Global Esports, Antidote from Enigma gaming, Deathmaker from Velocity Gaming, and Revenant’s Scargod. The film is directed by Global Esports Mohit Israney and would probably be released prior to the Chennai LAN.

Valorant: C9 Curry’s first dance, Cloud 9 Blue loses to Optic Gaming 1-2

0

Curry played almost different roles for T1, Cloud 9 changed their composition a bit to accommodate for Curry, Curry primarily played controller on his first run taking over the role from Vanity, While vanity and Xeppa played Sova/Fade which Xeta used to.

The match started on the  Icebox, Cloud9’s pick with both teams almost running a similar composition without duelist and their map player’s C9 leaf and Optic yay playing chamber, the only difference between the compositions was Optic playing sova and C9 playing Fade.

The map swung cloud9’s way on the backs of some amazing rounds from Xeppa on Fade and curry on viper, and leaf’s Chamber always managing to shut down yay’s chamber. The first half ended with Cloud 9 winning the half 8-4 on the attack. On defense, though Cloud 9 didn’t skip a beat and managed to win the game 13-4 without dropping a single round.

Onto Optic’s Ascent, A surprise pick of Yoru from Victor must’ve really confused Cloud 9 Blue, as it was the first time yoru was played on Ascent since the yoru rework. Optic Gaming also employed Fade instead of Kay/O while the rest of the comp almost remained the same as last week.

Cloud 9 played with Vanity as sova, Xeppa, mitch, and leaf played their regular agents. And curry played Omen.

The map started being optic’s stronghold, Optic gaming always managed to find openings on Cloud 9’s defense winning the first half 9-3 and then putting up a green wall on defense to win the second half 4-1 thus winning the game 13-4.

Now with both teams winning their map pick the Decider Haven was played. On C9B’s side, Xeta’s role of Breach was taken over by Vanity, while Curry played Omen instead. Both teams played duelists with Leaf and Victor on Raze, and a sentinel Chamber with Mitch playing it for C9B while yay donning it as he has been for most maps.

The game started with Cloud9 on defense managing to win the opening pistols and four straight rounds. But with a clutch from yay optic put 1 on the map. With this Optic managed to win 5 of the remaining 7 rounds to close the half 6-6.

The second half again started with Cloud 9 winning four first rounds to a scoreline of 10-6, yay then started the optic winning with a 3k from his tour-de-force. After this round optic managed to win the next 6 rounds to win the game 13-10.

Despite losing though, Cloud 9 didn’t seem weaker per se, despite the Xeta – Curry trade, you can read about it further: https://www.talkesport.com/news/valorant-xeta-departs-c9b-joins-t1/

And I think would easily make it to the playoffs. Cloud 9 Blue now has to face Faze, Luminosity, and Sentinels (who are already down bad) in the upcoming week.

While the green wall still seems impenetrable, it doesn’t seem anyone has yet found an answer for it. Optic Gaming is already 2-0 strong and it doesn’t seem they are going to slow down a bit whatever opponents they face.

Good luck to both of the teams and I know they’d make it to the playoffs. GGs

PGL to host the next Dota 2 Major in Arlington, Texas

Esports event organizers, PGL have announced that the final major of the DPC Season 2021-22 will be held in Arlington, Texas at the Esports Stadium Arlington. You should get most of these before your trip but even if you don’t, you can buy most of them from different LLC in Texas. This will be the first Dota 2 Major being hosted by a North American state, the likes of which we last saw during the Boston Major which was hosted back in 2016 and won by OG Esports.

The Arlington Major marks the end of the 60year drought of a Majorless era most notably thwarted by the Coronavirus Pandemic which forced every organizer to push their events to a remote online mode. With the return of LAN events, the recently concluded ESL One Stockholm Major was indeed a blast that saw OG Esports yet again take it home and add it to their trophy cabinet. The Major in Arlington will help teams earn a set of circuit points towards the qualification of the Marquee tournament, The International.

Event Details

  • PGL Arlington Major
  • Location: Texas
  • Venue: Esports Stadium Arlington
  • Prize Pool : $500,000 USD

A total of 18 teams will be in attendance with more details about the qualifiers and the direct invites soon to be determined by PGL.

DOTA 2 has a lot of fans in the US, and Arlington has a perfect location for tournaments of this caliber: Esports Stadium. We are fortunate to be back in North America with another Major after Boston. We love to run events in the USA, and we have wonderful memories from 2016: it was a great tournament, and the fans were fantastic. Having a tremendous tournament with DOTA 2 enthusiasts in the stands after a long time will be great!

Silviu Stroie, CEO PGL

The Arlington Major starts on August 4 and runs till the 14th.

Virtus.pro bench YEKINDAR, buster

The Russian Organization plan on introducing two new players which will replace the duo of Timur “buster” Tulepov and Mareks “YEKINDAR” Gaļinskis on the starting five.

Virtus.pro have benched Buster and YEKINDAR, the Dzhami “Jame” Ali lead squad announced today on their Twitter handle and doing so will make them the first team to make changes post a Major tournament. Virtus.pro had played out the PGL Major Antwerp 2022 under the banner of “Outsiders” due to the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian conflict which had several tournament organizers banish Russian organizations from participating at CS:GO tournaments and others.

This announcement comes with no surprise as YEKINDAR had previously told sportacentars.com about the team’s inability to travel and compete at tournaments under the banner due to the above-mentioned political tensions between the two CIS countries.

“If there are any regulations or restrictions regarding the arrival of my teammate from Russia to the tournaments, visa, or rules from the organizers themselves, then it is very likely that there will be some changes. Well, most likely there will be. All I can do is wait and see how things unfold, the future is uncertain,” the 22-year-old Latvian had told sportacentars.com, just two days before the BLAST’s decision to not invite Russia-based teams such as Virtus.pro and ex-Gambit (now Cloud9)  to their competitions. Although ex-Gambit was acquired by Cloud9 just before the PGL Antwerp Major 2022, the Virtus.pro core now looks ahead towards the betterment of things with respect to their homeland.

With YEKINDAR being a European resident, among all the players on Virtus.pro, the Latvian was under an impending pressure due to an estranged thought process of the Latvians in the wake of the Russian invasion while Buster’s benching clearly frames out the fact that Virtus.pro are indeed looking for a new direction in Counter Strike in a bid to get back to their winning ways.

Virtus.pro crashed out of the Group Stage of the recently concluded PGL Antwerp Major 2022 following an unsatisfactory finish at the ESL Pro League Season 15.

In a Tweet, Virtus.pro did state that the team will soon introduce their new duo who will replace these exiting players.

Until a further announcement, Virtus.pro have:

  • Aleksei “Qikert” Golubev
  • Dzhami “Jame” Ali
  • Evgeniy “FL1T” Lebedev
  • Dastan “dastan” Aqbaev (Head Coach)

Skyesports Champions Series Group stage Day 5 recap

0

Day 5 of the Skyesports Champions Series had a few of the most important valorant matches of all the tournament. With elimination and qualification in the picture, most teams needed the wins and brought their best performances today.

Day 5 SCS Group Stage summary

Group A

  • Team Valor 2-0 Revenant Esports
  • Khumbu Esports 0-2 Global Esports

Group B

  • Velocity Gaming 2-0 Exceeli Esports
  • Reckoning Esports 0-2 Full Power Gaming
  • Orangutan 2-0 Union Gaming

Match 1: Team Valor 2-0 Revenant Esports

Team Valor had a must-win game today, While Revenant had a final match and with a win would’ve solidified their position in the group and could’ve been a contestant for the top seed in the group. The valorant match showed the resilience of both the teams and their fighting spirit.

On the first map of fracture, Revenant Esports’ pick had team Revenant on defense, but Valor managed to consistently find gaps in Revenants defense to close the first half 8-4, Revenant on their attack pulled something similar too and won that half 8-4 putting both teams on 12-12 at the end of regulation.

In OT after exchanging defense rounds in OT 1 and then attack rounds in OT 2, team valor managed to close it in the third OT

Team Valor’s Ascent saw team valor struggling to find any impact in attack only managing 2 rounds to close the half 10-2, but on their defense, they closed out Revenant’s attacks forcing OT again.

This time around, Team Valor managed to win both rounds in OT 1 closing the match with a 2-0 victory over Revenant, Paradox was the most impactful player with 304 ACS almost carrying Team Valor to victory. Because of the result, Revenant Gaming is now 3-2 and Team Valor has a chance of tieing this score if they win against Prime 5.

Match 2: Velocity Gaming 2-0 Exceeli Esports

Due to unforeseen circumstances and no way out, Exceeli had to surrender the match to Velocity. Velocity had already qualified and for them, the match was for seeding.

Match 3: Reckoning Esports 0-2 Full Power Gaming

This was arguably one of the most anticipated and crucial matches of the day with the match’s result heavily impacting the qualifying team for the Chennai LAN.

The game started on Full Power gaming’s map pick of Split, Full power Gaming managed to penetrate Reckoning Gaming’s defense over and over again winning the half 9-3 and on the defense, they managed to contain Reckoning’s attack to win the game 13-5.

On Haven, Reckoning’s choice, Full Power managed to scrape 5 rounds on their defense losing the half 5-7 But went on to attack with utter dominance only letting Reckoning defuse the spike once and winning the match 13-8, k1Ng’s 285 combined ACS on Neon was the best performance of the match.

With this win, Full power Gaming along with Orangutan and Velocity become the three teams that qualify for Chennai LAN whilst Reckoning despite a wonderful effort failed to qualify.

Match 4: Khumbu Esports 0-2 Global Esports

Global Esports needed a compulsory win and if they wouldn’t have they would be out of the tournament for sure. While Khumbu was already out, They had a chance to pull a major upset and end the tournament on a high.

For the match, Khumbu chose to attack their map choice and despite a good 3-2 start only managed to get 1 more round out of the remaining 7 rounds losing the half 4-8, Now GE’s attack was impressive given they played without a duelist. GE did not drop a single round and eventually won the map 13-4.

Now onto GE’s fracture, Global with the last map’s momentum managed to win 10 attack rounds eventually to close out the map 13-2 in the second half and the series 2-0. SkRossi managed to accumulate 37 kills with a combined ACS of 37 to be the MVP for GE.

Global Esports now have a strong chance to qualify with its decision depending on Team Valor and Prime 5’s game. While Khumbu plays Enigma tomorrow as their final game.

Match 5: Orangutan 2-0 Union Gaming

This match marked the final match of Group B, With Orangutan already qualified and Union Already out of contention, this was a seeding match.

The match started out on Icebox, With Union despite winning the pistol, losing the next round, and went on to lose all the following rounds to lose the game 1-13.

The second map also followed a similar storyline with union gaming only managing 2 attack rounds and 1 defense round to lose the map 3-13.

The 2-0 victory over Union has put the orangutan in a strong position with 4-1 and is probably the first seed in group B over VLT.

After today only two matches remaining, Khumbu Esports vs Enigma gaming which doesn’t change much as it would be a seeding match for Enigma who is already probably the top seed of the tournament, while Khumbu has already lost all the other matches and would try to win the game as a consolation. While the Team Valor- Prime 5 match might change the qualifying teams of group A

Since all the matches of group B are already concluded Orangutan, Velocity Gaming, and Full Power Gaming are the three qualified teams for Chennai LAN. The Final seeding would probably be announced tomorrow. Congratulations to the qualified teams and good luck to the teams who play tomorrow. GGs.
