First Look Of Dr. Disrespect’s FPS Game Deadrop Released

Respected streamer and now a game developer, Dr. Disrespect has finally revealed the first look at Midnight Studio’s upcoming FPS game called Deadrop. Previously known as “Project Moon”, Deadrop is a vertical extraction shooter (VES) game that incorporates the use of non-fungible tokens or NFT.

Last week on Friday, Dr. Disrespect hosted a live event in Los Angeles where he revealed more details about “Deadrop” and unveiled the first look at the game. Disrespect had invited industry insiders to the event which also included some known esports organizations.

If you’ve played games like Escape from Tarkov or Hunt: Showdown, then the upcoming game from Dr. Disrespect is going to feel extremely similar. However, Deadrop will be different from other games mentioned above due to its “vertical” twist and closed space combat. Instead of running around on an open map like Tarkov or Hunt, players have to face off against each other in the ruins of massive buildings. 

Aside from the above difference, the game will also be the first to feature NFTs build right into the game. For months now the Founders Pass NFTs have been on sale. Those who purchased the Founders Pass NFTs had early access to the game when it was called “Project Moon”.

While the Founders Pass NFTs have all sold out (or maybe pulled down), according to Midnight Society new ‘Deadrop’ NFTs are still coming and will give access to future closed betas.

BGMI Is A BIG Cyber Threat To India, says Govt Officials

A central intelligence agency report and letter from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) caused a ban on the popular battle royale game Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI).

The report discussed infractions that can cause cyber dangers by harvesting user data for profiling in order to carry out targeted cyberattacks on Indian users. These violations can occur when user data is harvested for profiling.

According to a high-ranking official in the government, the application has a number of problems, the most significant of which is that it communicates with servers that are either directly or indirectly situated in China.

A number of sources have also confirmed that additional apps that have undergone a “rebranding” process are connecting with servers located in China and are being investigated.

Following many iterations of investigation by Indian government entities, the decision was made to submit a request to Google requesting that the program be removed from the Play Store.

“The analysis also showed that this application has malicious code and also acquires a host of critical permissions,” a senior government official told News18 on the condition of anonymity. “This application could be misused for compromising user data for surveillance through camera/microphone, location tracking, and malicious network activities,” the official said. “The analysis also showed that this application acquires a host of critical permissions.”

“Apps like these are harmful to India’s sovereignty and integrity, and they pose a significant threat to the country’s national security infrastructure.” According to an official who works in Meity, who spoke to News18, “the inputs were shared with us, and prompt action was done without any delay from the administration.”

Although the official order to prohibit BGMI in India has not yet been issued, Meity has already begun the process by requesting that the software be removed from app shops such as Google Play.

After this, the firm will offer its side of the argument, and then the judge will make a final determination regarding the total ban.

The game’s developer, Krafton, has stated that it is actively striving to revive the project. The organization recently released a statement in which it stated that it is dedicated to the Indian market and is optimistic about the possibilities that exist in the country.

“Here at KRAFTON, protecting the personal information of our customers and respecting their right to privacy are two of our highest priorities. In the meantime, Google has confirmed that the company has been given an official order to remove the game from its platform by the authorities.

Is REBRANDING an option? 

According to senior officials who are responsible for analyzing these applications, illegal Chinese apps have been renamed in India despite the fact that there is not a single server located in the country .

Additionally, they capture data like as location, audio, and access to other sensitive information, all of which have the potential to be exploited.

As cross-border tensions remain high, the Indian government decided to prohibit 54 new Chinese-made apps in February of this year, citing the fact that these apps represent a “threat to India’s security.”

The vast majority of them were imitations of apps that had been prohibited by the government in the wake of the conflict in Galwan Valley, but which had since been renamed and reintroduced in India in a stealthy manner.

The addition of 54 additional restricted apps brings the total to 324, including Tik Tok and PUBG (earlier version), which had to partner with Chinese enterprises due to the ban in India.

BGMI getting removed from Google Play Store and Apple App Store sent shockwaves throughout India, unlike the last time, it happened without any prior warning.

A community of millions were left dumbfounded as no one had any clear knowledge of why it may have happened.

The game was removed for precautionary purposes and a full-fledged ban is likely to follow suit.

According to News18, “The report talked about violations that can create cyber threats by harvesting user data for profiling to carry out targeted cyber-attacks on Indian users.”.

The article further states that the developer KRAFTON is formulating a case in their defense which is the only thing that is holding up a permanent ban.

“At KRAFTON, the security and privacy of our user data are of utmost importance to us. We have always been compliant with all the laws and regulations in India, including data protection laws and regulations, and will continue abiding by them.” says the developer.

Rebranding or launching the game under a different corporate umbrella will not help them get out of this. With government cracking down on Chinese apps, it will be very difficult to penetrate the Indian market after this as long as the game has ties with China.

Here are the counters to each phase:

Phase 1 – Persian Counters:

Persian is a Normal-type Pokemon and is weak against Fighting types while being immune to Ghost types.

Phase 2 – Nidoking Counters

Bungie has disabled Destiny 2’s text chat after an exploit crashed opponents’ games.

Players of Destiny 2 recently discovered a way to achieve an instant win for themselves, notably in the PvP form of the game, by spamming the text chat while they were playing. By doing so, they would cause their opponents’ match to be terminated, which would give them the victory by default.

Players were quick to notice the problems, and the community quickly made its presence known on Reddit and other social media channels, encouraging Bungie to correct the problems as soon as possible. They were, of course, drawing attention to the violent conduct of those who took advantage of the error to secure easy victories for themselves.

Prior to Bungie’s intervention, people were discussing ways to try to stop this issue from occurring in the first place.

As soon as Bungie was made aware of the problem, they moved immediately to resolve it. The developers have come to the conclusion that it is in everyone’s best interest to disable text chat in the game while they work on finding a solution to the glitch.

On August 1 at 10 a.m. (Pacific Standard Time), there will be an initial maintenance patch. Bungie has confirmed that there will be maintenance for this, and they have stated that it would assist with preparation for the release of the Hotfix 4.1.5.2 patch the following day, on August 2.

Even while Bungie hasn’t explicitly stated that the chat exploit will be fixed by this patch, it’s safe to believe that it will. The popularity of the game was huge in the country. On July 1st, 2022, Krafton the developers of the game announced the milestone of surpassing 100 million registered users.

They launched a first-of-its-kind ‘Game Responsibly’ campaign in November 2021 to promote safer and responsible gaming habits and build awareness amongst players to cultivate safer and healthy gaming habits. Still, it couldn’t get them to stop the ban.

Although the game had majorly active players, the popularity of the game is also determined by its presence in the esports ecosystem. Krafton said it has already deployed around $100 million which was committed to the Indian market two years ago in the South Asian nation. Some of their major investments are mentioned below:
