Dota 2’s 2022 TI11 Prize Pool Hits $7 Million in 24 Hours, Lags Behind TI9 & TI10

0

Following a long wait, the Dota 2 community finally got the chance to get their hands on the TI11 Battle Pass. Initially, the player base was left confused due to Valve’s new two-part approach experimented with in this new Battle Pass. However, the Pass sales continue to increase steadily as time progresses.

Looking at the TI11 Battle Pass sales in the first 24 hours, we can see that the prize pool of The International 2022 has already hit over $7,000,000 in a day. But how does it compare to the prize pools of previous TIs?

Taking a quick look at the prize pools of TI9 & TI10 on the first day of their Battle Pass releases, we can see that the TI11 Prize Pool is lagging behind the two in terms of first-day BP sales. For reference, the TI10 prize pool was approximately $8,000,000 after the first 24 hours since the release of the TI10 Battle Pass.

However, the bigger cause of concern might be the shorter time frame that this year’s Battle Pass will have to fund the prize pool of TI11. While the TI9 and TI10 Battle Pass had over three months to build up the prize pools for their respective TIs, this year’s case will be slightly different.

via Dota 2 Prize Tracker

Part 1 of the TI11 Battle Pass will conclude on November 1st, and The International 11 prize pool will be determined since no further purchases contribute to it.

This means that none of the purchases made during Part 2 of the Battle Pass, which drops on November 2nd and runs until January, will be adding anything to the event’s prize pool.

To put it simply, the TI11 Battle Pass will only have two months to raise funds for the prize pool of The International 2022, while the TI9 & TI10 Battle Passes had over three months each.

This likely means that the TI11 prize pool won’t be able to overtake the humongous total prize pool of over $40,000,000 that TI10 had set, as is evident from the early stats.

Fans of the MOBA title worldwide eagerly look forward to Valve coming up with new additions to this year’s Battle Pass and turning the tides.

Match 1 DRX vs. FURIA (Group D):

The first match of Group D had the Korean giants DRX taking on the South America LCQ winners Furia, with the series starting on Furia’s map pick on Ascent.

The map started with Furia taking complete control over DRX reading the attack perfectly to win eight rounds in a row. DRX, with their plays, managed to scrape three rounds in half to finish the half 3-9.

The second half started with Furia clutching the pistol round and the follow-up to winning the first gun round reaching map point before DRX can win five rounds. With a scoreline of 12-4, DRX displayed their determination winning eight rounds in a row to force overtime.

The overtime had both teams winning offensive and defensive halves to reach 14-14, but DRX, with their strategic offense, won the first round of third OT and held strong to complete one of the best comebacks in professional Valorant history, winning the first map 16-14.

The second map Haven started with DRX completely dominating Furia, winning seven out of the eight rounds. Furia scraped three rounds by the end of the half to finish the half on 4-8.

The domination continued on the attack for DRX, and they closed out the map without dropping another round to win the map 13-4.

With the map win, DRX 2-0’d after a successful comeback on Ascent to conclude the amazing series with a solid W. DRX now plays the winner of Fnatic/100t while Furia faces elimination.

Match 2 Fnatic vs. 100 Thieves (Group D):

The NA LCQ winners looked good in the tournament, but their first challenge was against the EMEA giants Fnatic. The match was a trial by fire for the new and improved 100 Thieves as they made their international debut.

The three-map series started on Pearl, chosen by Fnatic. Still, it seemed 100 Thieves had everything in control, winning four out of the first five rounds, but Fnatic’s resilience helped them finish the first half on a 6-6 half.

The second half started with Fnatic losing the first two rounds but winning the anti-bonus. But 100 Thieves’ attack overwhelmed the defense and limited Fnatic to only four rounds before winning the game 13-10.

With 0-1 down, Fnatic needed to win the second map to force the third map, and they started strong, winning eight out of the first ten rounds, but a clutch from Bang to secure the third and fourth rounds.

The second half started in Fnatic’s favor, and they managed to convert the game, winning the required five rounds with relative ease to close the map 13-7 to force the third map.

Haven started with 100 Thieves winning five rounds in a row, but Fnatic answered back with six rounds in a row to close out the half 6-6.

100T on attack completely decimated the Fnatic defense, winning the required seven rounds, dropping only one to close the map 13-7 to win the series 2-1.

With this upset, 100T now plays DRX tomorrow for Valorant Champions playoff qualification while Fnatic plays Furia in an elimination game.

Match 3 Optic Gaming vs. LOUD (Group B):

The Group B upper bracket qualifier was a rematch of the VCT Masters Reykjavik finals, with the two teams, Optic Gaming and LOUD, facing each other for the fifth time.

This iteration had LOUD started on defense on their map pick Breeze and completely dominated Optic Gaming reading their attacks like a book to close out the half 11-1.

Optic on defense displayed why they are the top team in the game, winning six rounds in a row, but the ten-round deficit was too much for Optic, and they lost the game 7-13, going a map down in the series.

Fracture started with Optic Gaming winning the opening two rounds, but LOUD, on the back of a strong performance from Sacy, secured five straight rounds. Still, Optic Gaming and spearheaded by Yay, secured four out of the final five rounds to equalize the half.

The second half seemed to be going in LOUD’s favor, but a strong performance from Yay helped Optic to bring back Optic to winning ways to close the map 13-10 to force a third map.

Pearl started with LOUD winning the first two rounds, but Optic finally found their rhythm and completely shut down all of LOUD’s offense to close the first half 9-3.

The second half started with Optic winning the required four rounds without dropping a beat to close the map 13-3 and the series 2-1 to qualify for their first Valorant Champions playoff.

Sea faces $1B loses post Free Fire ban in India; shuts Booyah! and lays off employees

Sea, an e-commerce and gaming tech giant from Southeast Asia, is reportedly shutting down the operations of their game live streaming platform, Booyah, after facing a massive loss of $1 billion in their quarterly earnings. According to the report, Free Fire ban in India has impacted their revenue to a large extent.

Free Fire was one of the most trending games in India, generating a humongous revenue for the tech giant. Since the game was banned, the company has already incurred losses and the number has reached a staggering $1 billion, according to Reuters.

Sea Labs is shutting down several of their experimental projects including the development of game live streaming platform. This will reportedly lead to 30 to 40 people getting laid off from Garena’s team. This layoff is a part of Sea’s plan to increase profitability as per the reports.

Sea is the parent company that owns the gaming giant Garena. A spokesperson from the company said that Sea “made some changes to improve efficiency” in their operations that impact a number of roles, saying it would focus on the “long-term strength of Sea’s ecosystem”.

Garena and Sea collectively have incurred huge losses in the pandemic and the ban adds on to their pile. The share price of Sea plummeted by 72% this year and Garena shared a similar fate with a drop of 39% in quarterly paying users.

Sea has acted on this setback and tried to regain its profitability by taking some moves like warning stakeholders about a worrying situation between Garena and the Indian government in March 2022. They also laid people off at their e-commerce arm,Shopee, in regions like SEA, Mexico and Latin America.

Pokimane cries while explaining her Twitch break

0

Pokimane has finally explained her silence and change in streaming schedule and as many would have guessed it had to do with her health.

Pokimane broke down in tears when explaining what caused her to take a break to which fans have responded by offering plethora of support. Since her announcement for a break in mid July, Pokimane has broken her silence in September.

September 1st saw Pokimane drop a video where she explains the break and all the changes that are to come in the following days, including type of content and a new streaming schedule.

Source: Pokimane Twitter

“I do recognize that putting myself out there so much, especially streaming, it revolves around this constant feedback loop of people telling you what they think of you. From seven-second TikTok clips to 10-minute YouTube videos to 10-hour streams, and they all revolve around comments.” she says.

“at a point in my life where it doesn’t feel creatively fulfilling to feed into that anymore.” according to her.

“Streaming and gaming does fit in there, but it doesn’t have to be everything,” she said.

“My heart yearns for more, and it yearns to explore more, while still keeping that part of my identity, and I really hope you guys can be understanding of that.”

From now onwards, Pokimane will be starting a “new chapter” which likely means that less of her streaming content and more things on rest of the platforms. Streams will likely get reduced to 2-3 times a week but fans can find her on the likes of TikTok.

Dota 2: How to Acquire the International 11 Collector’s Aegis

The 2022 Dota 2 battle pass, much like its predecessors, is loaded with amazing goodies that will motivate all players to complete the pass before it expires on January 12, 2023. This date marks the beginning of the pass’s next cycle.

The Battle pass for Dota 2 is loaded with a variety of rewards and cosmetics to choose from.

When it comes to accessing content for the battle pass, there are several different routes to go. Some players will adhere to the tasks and unlock as many levels as possible before the pass expires, but others may buy levels to speed up the process.

As players level up their battle passes, the tier rewards get more exclusive, and the most prestigious Dota 2 item is sealed at level 1000.

How to Get the International 11 Collector’s Aegis In Dota 2

Unlocking the 100th tier of the 2022 battle pass grants players in Dota 2 the opportunity to obtain the International 11 Collector’s Aegis. Once a player reaches level 1000 in their combat pass, a new section titled “Register for Deliver” will become available on their battle pass page.

After obtaining level 1000 of the battle pass, players will be required to register a valid shipping address in order to be eligible for the replica of the Aegis. The amount of time it takes for the Collector’s Aegis to be delivered to a player is greatly contingent on their location as well as the amount of time it takes for Valve to transport the replicas.

Qualified and registered players will be sent a notification email containing a tracking number as soon as the Aegises are dispatched.

Valve announced the venue for The International’s 11th edition. The International 11 (TI11) will take place in Singapore, as was revealed during the ESL One Stockholm Dota Major 2022.

The International will make its debut in Southeast Asia for the very first time with this year’s tournament. Previously, China made history by becoming the first country in Asia to ever play host to The International when it staged TI9 in the city of Shanghai in 2019.
