Ryuhejong Suspended From Gen.G For Sexist Comments On Stream

Popular Twitch streamer and former Overwatch pro Jehong ‘Ryujehong’ Ryu has been suspended from team Gen.G following an incident where he reportedly made sexist remarks during a live stream on Twitch.

It hasn’t been long since Jehong has been a part of Gen.G squad, though. The Seoul-based organization announced the news of Jehong joining them on January 11, 2021.

In his January 16th stream alongside female streamer Haegi, the 29-year-old reportedly made multiple sexist remarks towards her. It wasn’t before long that the incident spread like a wildfire across social media platforms, leading to the VOD of the stream being deleted on Twitch.

The incident didn’t pass by Gen.G unnoticed, as the org announced on January 19th that they were indefinitely suspending Jehong for his behavior.

“Our belief is that whether you are a player or streamer, anybody with a platform should understand the responsibility of the higher standards that come with it. As such, we have suspended all of Jehong’s team-related activities indefinitely,” said Arnold Hur, Co-President and Chief Operating Officer of Gen.G.

The duration of Jehong’s ban from Gen.G is still unclear, and it remains to be seen if he gets an opportunity to return to the org in future.
