Peruvian Dota 2 Pro Aretes Suspended by Latam Defenders for Using Racial Slurs in Pub Game

Peruvian professional Dota 2 player Aretes has been indefinitely suspended from his team, Latam Defenders, after screenshots of him using racial slurs in a pub game against Andrew “Jubei” Evelyn, a player from team Black N White, have surfaced on social media platforms.

The series of screenshots showcasing Aretes making racist remarks were exposed on Twitter by popular Dota 2 commentator Andrew “Zyori” Campbell. The screenshots were taken directly from Jubei’s stream, who was on the receiving end of the remarks.

“Does your organization tolerant active racism from your players?” Zyori asked Latam Defenders.

A reply from the org followed shortly afterwards. “In Latam Defenders we reject any act of discrimination, racism, or unsporting behavior,” they said in a Tweet. Latam Defenders also announced that they would be indefinitely suspending Aretes from the team until further notice.

BTS also proceeded to ban Aretes from further competing in the BTS Pro Series Season 5: Americas and prohibited him from receiving any portion of the prize money that Latam Defenders would receive from the event.
