Nintendo has confirmed the UK price increase for the Nintendo Switch 2, ending months of speculation about how much more the console will cost in Britain and Ireland. From September 1, 2026, the console’s UK price rises from £395.99 to £419.99, a £24 increase. In the Republic of Ireland, the price climbs from €469.99 to €499.99.
The update follows Nintendo’s earlier announcement of global price hikes and gives UK and Irish shoppers a clear deadline before the new pricing takes effect.

Why Nintendo Is Raising Switch 2 Prices
Nintendo first announced the global Switch 2 price hikes in May 2026, confirming increases across the US, Europe, and other major markets from September 1, 2026. Japan’s pricing changed first, with the increase taking effect there at the end of May.
Nintendo has pointed to shifting market conditions and rising costs as the reason behind the revision. Industry reports have linked the increase to higher memory chip prices, with global demand from AI data centres putting pressure on DRAM and storage component supply throughout 2026. Similar cost pressures have already pushed up prices for other gaming hardware this year, including the PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and the Steam Deck.
Compared to those price hikes, the Nintendo Switch 2 UK price increase of £24 is relatively modest. Sony raised PS5 prices in the UK by around £90 earlier in 2026, while Xbox Series X and S prices rose by up to £170 depending on the model.
Should You Buy a Switch 2 Before September 1?
Anyone planning to buy a Nintendo Switch 2 in the UK or Ireland still has a short window to do so at the current price. The increase applies from September 1, 2026, so consoles bought before that date will not be affected.
Nintendo has not ruled out further price adjustments to the Switch 2 in the future, but no additional increases have been announced beyond the September update.
