G2 Esports have gone from Europe’s most settled super team to the busiest project of the LEC off-season in barely a week. The club that swept every domestic title in 2026 now has no head coach, a star jungler it will not release for free and two starters whose contracts run out on 16 November. On top of that, G2 have told fans they will not confirm any changes until free agency officially opens.
The upheaval began with the reports that Lyncas is set to replace SkewMond in the jungle after G2’s early Worlds 2026 exit. It accelerated on 5 November, when G2 ended their collaboration with head coach Perkz hours after his long personal statement on X. Here is where every piece of the G2 Esports roster now stands.
Every G2 contract heading into the 2027 off-season
| Player or role | Position | Contract ends | 2027 status |
|---|---|---|---|
| BrokenBlade | Top | 16 Nov 2026 | Out of contract in days, no new deal agreed yet (reported) |
| SkewMond | Jungle | 20 Nov 2028 | Leaving the active roster, G2 want a buyout (reported) |
| Caps | Mid | 15 Nov 2027 | Under contract |
| Hans Sama | Bot | 20 Nov 2028 | Under contract |
| Labrov | Support | 16 Nov 2026 | Out of contract in days, no new deal agreed yet (reported) |
| Lyncas (Vitality) | Jungle | 26 Nov 2026 | Reportedly set to replace SkewMond |
| Naak Nako (Vitality) | Top | 15 Nov 2027 | G2 one of three teams to approach Vitality (reported) |
| Pad (Vitality) | Coach | 16 Nov 2026 | Reportedly joining as strategic coach |
| Head coach | Coach | n/a | Vacant since G2 ended Perkz’s spell on 5 Nov |
The core of the team is still tied down for now. Caps, the club’s longest-serving player, is under contract until November 2027, while Hans Sama and SkewMond both have deals running until November 2028. The bigger short-term risk sits at the two ends of the map. Top laner BrokenBlade and support Labrov both become free agents on 16 November, and no new agreement had been reached with either of them, according to Sheep Esports.
That makes the next 10 days critical for G2’s management. If both players leave, G2 could be replacing three of the five starters who completed this year’s Golden Road, a sweep of the LEC Versus, Spring and Summer titles. They would also be doing it without the head coach who led them to the record 20th LEC title in September. For a team that has stayed broadly stable since 2024, it would be the biggest reset since G2 moved on from Yike and Mikyx two years ago.
Why SkewMond is stuck on a buyout
SkewMond’s situation is the most awkward of all. The Frenchman extended his contract until November 2028 in February, and he went on to be named Spring Finals MVP and, by many accounts, the team’s best player of the year. Even so, G2 have decided to move on from him, and the club is reportedly not prepared to release him for free, demanding a buyout fee from any team that wants him instead.
Several LEC teams could be in the market for a new jungler. Fnatic, Karmine Corp, Team Vitality, Shifters, GIANTX and SK Gaming all face decisions in that role, although G2 may be reluctant to sell their former starter to a direct LEC rival. That would leave a move to North America as one possible outcome, which would cost Europe one of its brightest young players.
Streamer and former pro Caedrel summed up the mood on his Twitch stream, joking that “G2 have SkewMond in contract jail” while Vitality were doing the same with one of their own stars. His replacement, meanwhile, is far easier to identify. Lyncas becomes a free agent on 26 November, and his long-time coach Pad, whose own Team Vitality contract ends on 16 November, has reportedly agreed to join G2 as strategic coach.

Naak Nako, BrokenBlade and the search for a new coach
G2 are also shopping in the top lane. According to Sheep Esports, G2, Movistar KOI and Natus Vincere have all approached Vitality about Naak Nako for 2027, and Vitality are asking for a €350,000 fee just to grant permission to negotiate with him. No deal has been reached, and the top laner is under contract with Vitality until November 2027.
That interest puts pressure on talks with BrokenBlade, whose G2 deal ends in a matter of days. If G2 land Naak Nako, BrokenBlade would become one of the most attractive free agents on the market. A breakdown with Vitality, on the other hand, would leave G2 needing to agree a new contract with their current top laner quickly.
The coaching seat is the other open question. Perkz had only taken over as head coach before the Esports World Cup in July, after Dylan Falco moved to an inactive role, and G2 have not named a successor. Pad’s reported arrival as strategic coach gives the staff a familiar face for Lyncas, but the head coach role remains vacant for now.
Every one of these moves runs through the same calendar. BrokenBlade, Labrov and Pad all become free agents on 16 November, according to the contract dates listed on Leaguepedia. Lyncas follows ten days later on 26 November, so the shape of G2’s 2027 roster should become clear on the LEC market within the month.
