Arcane, League Of Legends Anime Adaptation Gets A Release Date

Arcane, Netflix’s adaptation of Riot’s hugely popular MOBA game, League Of Legends just got a release date announcement accompanied by an extended trailer teasing the intense action and drama-packed story set in the world of LoL. 

Yesterday (25th Sept), Netflix announced the release date of Act-1 of Arcane during its annual Tudum event. The 3-hour long Tudum event was packed with various announcements and reveals including teasers for Stranger Things’ fourth season, Cowboy Bebop, Cobra Kai’s fourth season, La Casa de Papel (aka Money Heist), Arcane, and Witcher Season 2. 

Arcane is a series developed and produced by Riot Games is “set in utopian Piltover and the oppressed underground of Zaun, the story follows the origins of two iconic League champions— and the power that will tear them apart.” Arcane follows the backstories of two of the LoL’s most popular champions — sisters Jinx and Vi. The story revolves around the delicate balance and tension between the rich city of Piltover and the seedy underbelly of Zaun. Other characters from the League of Legends universe set to make an appearance in the show includes Jayce, Caitlyn, Silco, Mel, Vander, and Viktor. 

The cast of the show is filled with celebrities such as Hailee Steinfeld playing Vi, and Ella Purnell playing Jinx. Other League characters set to make an appearance are voice acted by Katie Leung as Caitlyn, Kevin Alejandro as Jayce, Jason Spisak as Silco, Toks Olagundoye as Mel, JB Blanc as Vander, and Harry Lloyd as Viktor.

The show is structured into three distinct acts with three episodes per act. The first three episodes focus on the very beginnings of the two sisters (from the League of Legends video game) and will launch on November 6. The second act will launch a week later on November 13, and the third act will release on November 20.
