A notorious “door glitch” has allowed crafty raiders to clip through locked vault doors, bypassing the need for rare keycards and pillage high-tier loot without consequence. But with Update 1.4.0, developer Embark Studios has issued a fix that is as effective as it is diabolical.
Instead of just patching collision geometry or invisible walls, Embark did what they called a “very hot fix” in the patch notes. Those players who try to glitch into locked rooms now find an instantaneous, fiery demise. The interiors of these vaults have been set up with hidden flamethrowers and incendiary traps that trigger on unauthorized entry.
The reaction from within the Arc Raiders community has ranged from shock to hilarity. Social media feeds are currently flooded with clips of unsuspecting exploiters phasing through doors only to be instantly turned into ash.
This creative justice fits within Embark’s history of playful yet firm moderation, solving a major economy-breaking issue without stripping the game’s sandbox identity. Beyond the barbecue, Update 1.4.0 also addressed the “double pump” shotgun exploit and patched the collision issues that allowed players to boost off teammates to access unintended areas.
