NetEase has revealed the biggest co-op PvE mode in Marvel Rivals so far, and it will feature the Mad Titan himself.
As already confirmed by the devs behind the hero shooter, the upcoming Marvel Rivals PvE game mode will launch on October 22, 2026, less than two weeks after the launch of the Season 10.5 update, and it will put 50 players together against Thanos’s army, with the Infinity Gauntlet as the prize.
The announcement came in the new Marvel Rivals Season 10.5 Dev Vision, and it ties into the game’s Path to Doomsday event series.
For the unaware, the Path to Doomsday series has been working through the Avengers films ahead of Avengers: Doomsday. This mode covers Endgame, and its setting and scale are modeled on that film’s final battle. The fight takes place in the ruins of the Avengers compound, and Thanos’s in-game design follows his MCU look, Infinity Gauntlet included.
Alongside this mode, fans will also be able to greet another 2v2 mode with the launch of Season 10.5. This mode will see 6 duo squads enter the battlefield to battle it out head-to-head, with special upgrades available for every hero in the form of cards.
Until now, the game’s PvE content has typically been limited to small squads, such as the four-player Zombie Modes we’ve seen in the past. This time, though, 50 players will have to fight through waves of enemy troops before facing Thanos, who is expected to play out much like an MMO raid boss.
It’s important to note that Thanos will not be introduced as a playable hero, at least not in this update. Players will have to work together to bring him down in the new game mode.
NetEase hasn’t revealed the finer details of the 50-player PvE mode at the time of writing, like how long matches will run, how objectives will be structured, whether any hero can be picked, or exactly how the Thanos fight mechanics will work. Regardless, the community is still excited about this upcoming game mode due to its sheer scale.
Marvel Rivals Season 10.5 is set to be the first major update in the game’s history without a new playable character. If the Thanos mode delivers, though, that trade-off may turn out to be well worth it.
