Xbox has refuted claims that GTA 6 will be exclusive to its cloud gaming platform ahead of its console launch. Following reports suggesting an exclusive deal between Rockstar and Xbox, the latter has officially denied the claims of GTA 6 streaming on its platform.
Xbox Rejects GTA 6 Cloud Streaming Claim
According to multiple reports, Microsoft secured the exclusive streaming rights to GTA 6 for Xbox Cloud Gaming, making Xbox Cloud Gaming the only service to offer the game online.
The reports gained traction in no time, as this would have allowed PC players to play the game. Not only did this open up a new avenue of possibilities ahead of GTA 6’s console launch, but it would have served Xbox with the opportunity to offer its service to a larger demographic.
Unfortunately, Xbox Chief Strategy Officer Matthew Ball publicly denied all reports. He said excitement surrounding GTA 6 and Xbox had contributed to such rumors and confirmed that the reports are nothing more than a hoax.
Cloud gaming removes the burden of owning expensive consoles or high-end gaming PCs. GTA 6’s lofty requirements would put the game out of reach for many potential players, but Cloud Gaming would allow the same players to experience the game.
The prospect of such an opportunity prompted the rumors to go viral. However, an official public rejection made the excitement surrounding the claim short-lived, disappointing many players at the same time.
What the Xbox Denial Means for PC Players
This clarification comes as a disappointment to PC gamers who expected to stream the game through Xbox Cloud Gaming ahead of its PC launch. To make things worse, Rockstar is yet to reveal the timeline for the PC version, which leaves gamers with fewer options for experiencing the game.
The clarification is particularly significant for PC gamers, given that Cloud Gaming would have served as a potential workaround, but Xbox’s statement removes that expectation for now.
