The policy clearly states that gifts are not refundable under normal conditions. As a giver, you cannot ask for a refund. These conditions have one important exception. If the giver declines to accept the gift before accepting it, then V-Bucks are refunded to your payment option.
You simply return unwanted gifts that you have not used. Refusing an unused gift initiates an immediate refund to the sender’s payment source without requiring help from support. This is the easiest way to handle unused cosmetics.
While refunds from the actual sender are not allowed, players have managed to successfully contact Epic Games customer service using the in-game bug submission tool or customer service. The most frequently advised procedure includes submitting an error report indicating that the gift had been sent to the wrong account due to a technical glitch. To successfully submit your issue, include information about the person you are submitting for.
​Epic Games has been observing refund transactions and has measures in place against abuse. For this purpose, some limitations are imposed on accounts showing high refund transactions, especially on accounts using gifts as a refund method. Repeated refund requests for non-acidental gifts mean that Epic Games might cancel future refund requests.​
The best-case scenario for refunds is still for the recipient to reject the gift. For persons sending refunds through support, being truthful about mistakes is an improvement in approval chances.
