Valve confirms Paris Major as final event in CS:GO, CS2 major set for March 2024

Valve, the game developer behind the popular first-person shooter game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), has announced the cancellation of the second Major of 2023. The tournament, which was scheduled for November 2023, has been scrapped to give way to the upcoming release of Counter-Strike 2.

The BLAST.tv Paris Major, which will run from May 8 to May 21, 2023, will be the last Major in the current version of the game. The next Major will be held in March 2024, after the release of Counter-Strike 2. The new game is set to be launched in the summer, which is just a few months before the now-cancelled Major was supposed to take place.

This decision has been met with mixed reactions from the CS:GO community. While some believe that it’s a good move to give players and teams more time to adjust to the new game, others expressed concern about the financial impact of losing a Major. Graham “messioso” Pitt, the General Manager of Complexity, took to Twitter to express his hopes that the first Major of 2024 will come with a “significant boost to revenue opportunities to make up for the Major taken away from 2023.” Pitt also noted that the cancelled Major is a “huge blow” to teams who rely on the revenue generated from attending these events.

The first Major of 2024 will take place in March, which is a departure from the past two years when the first Major was held in May. The PGL Major Antwerp, which was the first Major of 2022, also took place in May. The upcoming BLAST.tv Paris Major, which is scheduled for May 8-21, 2023, falls within the same window.

Valve has not provided any reasons for the change in schedule and whether it’s connected to the recent changes in the summer tournament break. The break has been moved to June 12-July 9, a month earlier than the previous years. The Counter-Strike Professional Players’ Association (CSPPA) has expressed its intention to work with Valve to “better align with the CS:GO Majors.”

Participating in Majors provides teams with significant financial opportunities through the sales of stickers. In the previous two Majors, the PGL Major Stockholm and PGL Major Antwerp, Valve paid out over $70 million to the participating teams and players from the sales of digital items.

In conclusion, Valve’s decision to cancel the second Major of 2023 in CS:GO has raised concerns in the community. While some are supportive of the move to give players and teams more time to adjust to the new game, others worry about the financial impact of losing a Major. The next Major will take place in March 2024, after the release of Counter-Strike 2. The upcoming BLAST.tv Paris Major, which is scheduled for May 8-21, 2023, will be the last Major in the current version of the game.

Counter-Strike 2 gets first update with bug fixes and gameplay adjustments

Valve, the developers of Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test, have released their first update to the game two days after its launch. The update includes various bug fixes and adjustments to audio, graphics, and gameplay.

One of the most notable changes is the addition of the weapon drop sound to the new feature, which displays on the minimap how far various actions from the player can be heard. Valve also reduced the ringing effect of flashbangs in response to feedback that it was too loud, along with some ambient sounds on Dust2.

In terms of gameplay updates, bullet holes in smokes will now appear consistently for everyone and will be fixed to the first-person camera, regardless of viewmodel settings. This change eliminates the competitive advantage that players had previously by setting the viewmodel closer to the middle.

Valve has also fixed various bugs related to smokes, picking up weapons while dead, and voice-related issues, as stated in the changelog. Moreover, the developers have added the command net_graph for players who enjoyed having it on in CS:GO.

Nasdaq warns FaZe Clan of potential stock delisting

0

Esports organization FaZe Clan has been served with a deficiency notice from the Nasdaq stock exchange due to their share price remaining below $1 for over 30 consecutive business days. The notice means that the company now has 180 days to regain compliance, with the share price required to recover to over $1 and remain at that price for 10 consecutive trading days.

As of March 24, FaZe stock had closed below the $1 minimum for 32 trading days, excluding weekends and national holidays. The notice from Nasdaq was received on March 23, informing FaZe that their common stock “failed to comply with the $1 minimum bid price required for continued listing on The Nasdaq Capital Market” for 30 consecutive business days.

The company has until September 19, 2023, to regain compliance with the minimum bid price requirement, as outlined in a March 24 SEC filing. The filing states that “to regain compliance, the closing bid price of the Common Stock must meet or exceed $1.00 per share for a minimum of ten consecutive business days.”

As of March 24, the closing price of FaZe Clan’s stock sits at $0.67, a significant drop from its all-time peak of over $20 per share in August 2022. If FaZe fails to recover the stock price within the 180-day period, they may qualify for an additional 180-day period. If not, they will be subject to delisting, although they can appeal to the Nasdaq hearing’s panel.

The SEC filing also notes that FaZe “cannot provide assurance that these efforts [to regain compliance] will be successful.” This news comes at a time when FaZe Clan is reportedly exploring options to take the company back private, less than a year after going public. The move was said to be necessary for “financial discipline,” as the company has laid off staff amid the ongoing challenges of the esports and gaming industry.

Moreover, FaZe has been facing internal battles as a handful of original members have spoken out against the organization’s treatment of them. FaZe Clan has responded to these allegations, stating that they know “we haven’t been the FaZe we need to be, but we’re working hard towards fixing that.”

The future of FaZe Clan on the stock market is uncertain, with the organization facing the possibility of delisting if they fail to recover its share price within the allotted time frame. Despite the company’s efforts to regain compliance, there is no guarantee that they will be successful, and the recent news of their exploration of going private suggests that FaZe may be considering alternative options.

Lethal Esports Take the Second Loss; Reckoning Esports Clean Swipe 2-0

Lethal Esports played their second match today against the debut of Reckoning Esports’ Lineup. LE didn’t seem to get a foothold even in their second match of this split, losing to RGE 2-0 in a one-sided fashion.

Reckoning Esports Roster and Lineup

Reckoning Esports had a talented lineup of Harsh “Harshhh” Arora as IGL, Saksham “Deadly10” Aurangabadkar, Varun “Mast3r” Menon, Daniil “flabben” Merzlyakov and

Aleksandr “hvoya” Eremin.

Lethal Esports Roster and Lineup

Lethal Esports consisted of Agneya “Marzil” Koushik as IGL, Shivam “sh1vy” Ajmani, Anil “LuciA” Kumar, Shahul “Khelthuzad” Hameed, Kiran “Rossi” Rossi, and Ayush “Cybell” Singh (Sub).

Map Veto and Selection

Haven and Lotus were banned by Lethal and Reckoning respectively. Lethal picked Pearl while Reckoning picked Ascent. Split and Fracture were banned making Icebox the last map of the veto.

Match Recap

Reckoning Esports picked defense first, despite their attack-sided composition of two duelists, Phoenix and Jett. The pistol round went to LE, with Shivy clutching a 1 vs 2 situation. LE got the anti-eco as well as the bonus, getting them the momentum they needed. LE led 4-0 when RGE decided to pull their socks up. With flabben’s operator, RGE closed out the half in their favor with a scoreline of 7-5. On the attack side, RGE seemed to be too powerful for LE’s defense, as they gave no space for them to breathe, dropping only one round in attack, that too the bonus round, closing the map at 13-6. Both Hvoya and Flabben dropped 22 kills, carrying the team to victory.

Ascent saw a slow start from RGE, with LE getting the pistol round and Kheltuzad getting a quadruple kill on the anti-eco round. Flabben secured the buy round for RGE with a triple kill. Flabben and Hvoya both proved to be “lethal” for LE as they did not have any answer for their unprecedented aggression and crisp aim getting multiple frags and finishing the half 8-4.

RGE maintained their domination in defense, getting a flawless pistol round. Kheltuzad broke the flow for RGE by getting a triple-kill clutch on their buy round. Kheltuzad gets a triple kill in the consecutive round as well but LE failed to capitalize on their advantage and gave away the round, bringing the score to 11-5. RGE, with their unorthodox use of chamber after the nerf patch, showcased an amazing hold against the aggression of LE. Flabben had a KDA of 25/8/1 with an ACS of 383, carrying his team to victory.  Finishing 13-5 with a flawless round, RGE showed that they are here to dominate and might be one of the teams to look out for.

Counter-Strike 2 Leaks Suggest New Anti-Cheat Feature ‘VAC Live’

On March 22, 2023, Valve’s announcement of Counter-Strike 2 took the world by storm. The news of the highly anticipated Source 2 engine upgrade for CSGO was met with global celebrations from fans of the FPS genre, as the company confirmed the upgrade along with a host of other exciting features.

Scheduled for a full release in Summer 2023, Counter-Strike 2 will bring lots of new content and improvements over the currently existing CSGO, which is based on the Source 1 engine. Features such as tickless servers, responsive smokes, and revamped maps, are something that the Counter-Strike community is eagerly looking forward to seeing in action. On top of that, if leaks are anything to go by, improvements to the anti-cheat system are also on the horizon.

According to a recent Tweet by prominent CSGO data miner ‘Aquarius’, a new anti-cheat measure for Counter-Strike 2 is already in the works.

This new anti-cheat feature for Counter-Strike 2 is called “VAC Live”, and it’s supposedly an improvement over the current VAC that exists in CSGO.

From the initial looks at the feature, it seems that VAC Live will instantly terminate any match that is in progress when a cheater is detected on the server.

It’s a similar approach to Valorant’s anti-cheat system, where a cheater being detected results in an instant match termination, nullifying any changes to rank or MMR.

Whether the ‘VAC live’ feature will be present in the live game at the time of its official launch is still not certain at the time of writing. However, the game’s community has commended the efforts of the developers to address the growing issue of cheaters in CSGO.

Cheaters Got Counter-Strike 2 Beta Access Before Consistent CSGO Streamers

Counter-Strike 2 has finally been revealed by Valve after several weeks of speculation around the same. Prior to the announcement, data miners were able to spot changes in the databases that read “today” building upon the hype for the former.

Valve’s highly anticipated “Counter-Strike 2” is set to make its debut with a limited test starting today. The game promises a complete overhaul to every system and every piece of content, bringing with it the largest technical leap forward in the history of the franchise.

Counter-Strike 2 would be released this summer alongside a promise of an “overhaul to every system, every piece of content, and every part of the experience.”

Upon its announcement, players will have access to beta-test the new iteration of Counter-Strike. Valve also released a FAQ guide for the CS2 closed beta which says the latter would be awarded to players who have a good conduct score across their matches.

According to the Anti-Cheat Police Department on Twitter, there have been a significant number of cheaters who have got access to the closed beta test of CS2. WarOwl (who has dedicated the last decade of their content to CS) and Anomaly, among other content producers, have not yet been given access to the game.

CSGO has a bad reputation for being a safe haven for cheaters, who undermine the smart and competitive environment the game strives to create. Players have complained about the anti-cheat system ever since the game was swarmed by hackers and have successfully fled to other first-person shooters like Valorant or third-party sites like Faceit.

Players who have been previously banned by Valve in CSGO do not get access to CS2 and nor will they get unbanned as stated by Valve on their official blog. Recent events don’t seem to support Valve’s commitment to fighting against hackers and cheaters in Counter-Strike 2, despite promises of an improved anti-cheat system.

At the moment, players are dissatisfied and concerned about cheaters as the most anticipated sequel of the first person is now online. There is still time before CS2 comes out of Beta testing and so we hope that it gets patched with a new Anti Cheat system. For more updates about Counter-Strike 2, make sure to follow TalkEsport on Google News

Droppy Flops: The Flappy Bird Inspired Game is now in Fortnite

0

Back in 2013, the game Flappy Bird was introduced, and it quickly became popular. The game was playable practically anywhere, at any time. Players could continue playing indefinitely until they lost since the game had an endless lifespan.

In the game, players would need to touch their screen in time to let the bird flap its wings and push itself aloft in order to dodge the pipes that approached them.

Unexpectedly, Flappy Bird has made its royal entry into Fortnite, in the shape of the aptly called, Droopy Flops. With the help of characters like Dolphin Copter, Bugger Duckie, Book of Colors, Dragonstony, and Sweet Rush, Infinity Studios recreated the classic mobile game inside Fortnite.

Infinity Studios has recently published Droopy Flops in Fortnite which is a Flappy Bird inspired game and thus it is anticipating several issues to show up during playing the game. You may contact Infinity Studios via their Twitter page if you run across any bugs.

Do you need PS Plus to play Overwatch 2?

0

Ever since Overwatch 2 launched, it has been queried several times whether it would be available on PS Plus? PS Plus is similar to Microsoft’s Xbox Live Gold subscription in exchange for online play.

The fact that Overwatch 2 is primarily a multiplayer online game has led some PS4 and PS5 console owners to wonder if they need to be PS Plus members to play the game.

Overwatch took everyone by storm in 2015, and its sequel, Overwatch 2 was brought to life in 2022, 7 years after its prequel’s release. While Blizzard’s newest multiplayer offering, Overwatch, has had its share of issues since its release, Overwatch 2 is expected to be a welcome change of pace for players.

Players in Overwatch 2 would experience a whole new set of maps, new characters, and different play styles.  But some PlayStation owners have grown worried about whether Overwatch 2 would be available to them via PS Plus?

Is PlayStation Plus required for Overwatch 2 play?

It is indeed a triumph for PlayStation Console players as Overwatch 2 won’t demand any PS Plus subscription if you decide to play it on your PlayStation Console. However, most free-to-play games do not necessitate a PS Plus membership, most specifically online multiplayer games as they are played out by a plethora of players including streamers and content creators.

Players can now enjoy Overwatch 2 on their consoles without any hesitations about getting themselves a monthly subscription. However, many players are counting on Blizzard to swiftly address the issue of longer-than-usual queue periods and server interruptions.

Due to the game’s free-to-play policy, the game monetizes primarily through the sale of in-game cosmetics and other items. It’s possible that Blizzard will reverse course and decide to alter this strategy in the future, but it’s also highly unlikely that this will be the outcome.
