When Is Overwatch for Mobile Coming Out?

0

Overwatch is arguably one of the most popular competitive FPS games in the world, and now it is getting a mobile version or so do the leaks suggest. While there is little information at hand, here is everything we know about Overwatch Mobile.

The rumour mill suggests that Blizzard has partnered with Nexon to handle publishing duties in Korea and Japan. Nexon ultimately secured the rights, despite competition from other major publishers.

Internally known as “Overwatch 3,” the project is more than just a mobile version of Overwatch 2. The moniker “Overwatch 3” could be more of a codename for development than a final branding decision. The mobile game has changed its gameplay to become a stand-alone product that will be a MOBA instead of an FPS.

There is no official release date set. However, some insiders predict that the game could be announced at a later BlizzCon, perhaps in late 2025 or 2026. The move to mobile and the MOBA format suggests Blizzard’s efforts to broaden the Overwatch franchise and reach new markets outside of its usual FPS fan base.

A formal release date has not been announced, but according to some insiders, the game will not be ready before the end of 2025 or early 2026. Many fans are struggling to accept that a mobile game named Overwatch will be a MOBA instead of an FPS. Unless the developers deliver a strong launch, backlash seems inevitable.

EA Lays off Employees in Light of Cancelled Projects

0

According to a Bloomberg report, EA has laid off over 300 employees as two major projects with Respawn have been cancelled before the upcoming business quarter.

Arguably one of the most anticipated upcoming titles, a new Titanfall installment is one of the projects being scrapped. Titanfall has always been a fan favourite and served as a money machine for EA for quite a while, which prompted the development of a new game in the series. Sadly, not only will we not be getting a new Titanfall, but this decision will also see several employees lose their jobs.

While Respawn shared a disheartening statement regarding the cancellation of the projects and layoffs, they did confirm that they will be “exploring bold experiences that push the boundaries of competitive play while staying true to the spirit of competition, creativity, and integrity that our community expects.”

It goes without saying that the cancellation of two major projects will not impact much of the company’s economic situation, given that they have several projects scheduled to be released in the coming days.

AGENT UPDATES

      • Incendiary – Brim’s molotov audio has been updated to be easier to hear, especially when placed underneath smokes.

      • Nova Pulse stun duration: 4s >>> 3.5s

      • Dimensional Drift point cost 7 >>> 8

French President Emmanuel Macron Congrats Team Vitality for Winning Grand Slam

Team Vitality’s recent success at IEM Melbourne 2025 not only triggered cheers in the esports world but also attracted significant recognition from the country’s highest office. President Emmanuel Macron made a public congratulatory message to the team on X (formerly Twitter), where he said, “With its Grand Slam, Vitality has elevated France to the top of esports and made our colors shine. Congratulations to the entire team!”

While Macron’s endorsement was received enthusiastically by gamers and the gaming community, it wasn’t lost that his rousing endorsement contrasted with his earlier words on video games. Graham “messioso” Pitt, a general manager at Complexity Gaming, was among the first to note the discrepancy between Macron’s new support and earlier criticism of video games.

The row goes back to the summer of 2023, when large-scale unrest broke out around France after the death of a 17-year-old boy at the hands of police. The event incited eight days of violent riots, with thousands of vehicles and buildings being burnt or destroyed. The aftermath cost a financial price of more than €650 million worth of damage.

Following the riots, President Macron placed blame on video games and during a press conference said that some rioters seemed to be “living out the video games that have intoxicated them.” He even went so far as to suggest that social media access may have to be curbed in the event of future civil unrest.

These comments were joined in criticism, especially by the gaming community, as they repeated the all too common but thoroughly discredited trope that violent video games are a cause of real-world aggression. There are many studies that have been unable to prove a direct causal relationship between video game content and violence, but such assertions still appear in times of societal tension.

In his 2022 re-election campaign, he launched bold plans to make France a world center for competitive gaming. These involved ambitions to host such milestone events like the League of Legends World Championship, The International for Dota 2, and a CS:GO Major.

The French government launched a national esports strategy in 2023 for developing the professional ecosystem, luring massive tournaments, and investing in facilities. These measures attest to France’s determination to be a global leader in the esports scene.
