ESL Gaming partners with Cryptocurrency Platform Coinbase

ESL Gaming, the world’s largest esports company, has today announced that global cryptocurrency platform Coinbase will become the Official Crypto Exchange Partner for key ESL events in 2021 and 2022.

The new partnership will bring the two respective industry-leading organizations together for the first time. It will commence at IEM Cologne 2021 and Coinbase, a trusted and easy-to-use platform for accessing the broader crypto economy, will support the ESL Pro Tours for CS:GO, StarCraft® II, and Warcraft® III. 

“This is a partnership between two like-minded companies at the forefront of technology and innovation,” said Eli McCarrel, Director Global Brand Partnerships at ESL Gaming. “We look forward to bringing Coinbase into the ESL family and integrating them into future ESL initiatives. This is an industry-shifting partnership and we couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead.”

“In its early days, few people foresaw the potential of esports becoming the vibrant and robust thing it is today,” said Eryn Alexander, Brand Director at Coinbase. “We believe the crypto-economy is on a similar trajectory, and we’re thrilled to find partners like ESL who share our sense of foresight and optimism.”

Through this landmark partnership, ESL and Coinbase will create unique integrations that will span across broadcast, social media, digital media, content, and more. These integrations will not only provide compelling content for fans but will reinforce why Coinbase should be the gateway to crypto education.

This is not the first major crypto-esports partnership. Earlier, teams like TSM, FaZe, and other major esports organizations have shown their active interest in building strategic partnerships with digital currencies.

Shroud Confirms Plans on Creating Valorant Team to Join VCT Qualifiers

After a long hiatus from competitive gaming, it seems like Twitch star Michael ‘shroud’ Grzesiek is looking to make a Valorant team to be a part of the upcoming VCT qualifiers.

In one of his recent Twitch streams, the 27-year-old revealed his plans of creating a Valorant team with former squadmates to compete in the VCT qualifiers. He talked about wanting to include former Cloud9 members like Jordan ‘n0thing’ Gilbert and Sean ‘Seangares’ Gares in his team, although Seangares’ presence might be uncertain due to him already being a part of another organization.

He has also mentioned the possibility of Tarik ‘tarik’ Celik joining the team. 

In his July 3rd stream, Shroud confirmed that he’ll be participating in the VCT qualifiers when the newest agent KAY/O would be eligible for picking. 

“I’ll go run around as KAY/O and silence things,” the Canadian said in his live stream.

The next Valorant open qualifier is scheduled to start from July 22nd and will run until July 25th. If Shroud and his team manage to qualify, they’ll have a chance to battle it out in the Challengers 2 event for a share of the whopping $50,000 prize pool.

If you’re an avid League of Legends fan, you’re probably already aware of the upcoming ‘Sentinels of the Light’ that will arrive in the title on July 8th. The event will feature a bunch of new content including new Ruination-themed skins and a new champion, Akshan. 

Luckily, it seems like Valorant will also be receiving some of the love as data miners have leaked some new Valorant skins that hint towards a collab between Valorant and League of Legends, two of the most successful titles by Riot Games. 

Popular Valorant data-miner ‘ValorLeaks’ has revealed in a recent Tweet that Valorant is about to receive a new ‘Ruination’ skin bundle that will be based on League of Legends. The release date of the bundle might be the same as that of the ‘Sentinels of the Light’ event in League. 

The Tweet read, “We will most likely be seeing this bundle around July 8th as that is when the event starts for League. The bundle is currently known to include a Guardian.”

No further details regarding the Valorant Ruination bundle have been revealed yet, and neither has it been officially confirmed by Riot themselves.

Twitch star Shroud has been an avid fan of 100 Thieves from day one but that doesn’t stop him from mocking them over something that he doesn’t agree with.

100 Thieves, owned by former COD legend NaDeSHoT holds undeniable potential that is yet to surface in a permanent fashion. Given how the majority of the roster is made up of former CSGO players, we can see why Shroud is so much into them but his recent comments on the North American Valorant team indicate that he isn’t fond of their recent antics.

100 Thieves’ recent line of merch looks great but comes with a significantly high price tag which has put them under fire from fans across social media. The topic was picked up by Shroud in his last stream, “100 Thieves might be my favorite… merch team,” he said. “Like honestly, they’re by far my favorite org, when it comes to merch.”

100T’s form has gone downhill since their initial showing in the early days of Valorant. With several equally capable contenders coming out from various parts of NA, the competition is getting tougher than ever but the one they excel for sure is “merch” or so Shroud likes to think.

Looks like 100 Thieves would put off some better results for Shroud to truly acknowledge their true qualities and the social media will be continuing to build on the “merch team” label unless they do so.

Team Heroic on Twitter have revealed the changes to their coaching positions as Nicolai ‘HUNDEN’ Petersen will sit out of the upcoming IEM Cologne 2021. 

Hunden, who joined Heroic as the team’s head CSGO coach in April 2020 won’t accompany the team to the IEM Cologne 2021 and instead will be replaced by Mental & Performance Coach Troels “robl” Robl and Physical Coach Kasper Straube. 

As earlier reported by HLTV.org, the 30-year-old Danish CSGO coach has been linked to Astralis as Danny “⁠zonic⁠” Sørensen’s contract with the former stands valid till the end of 2021 and the latter may weigh up his options for a change. Amid the current situation, Astralis have placed HUNDEN on the top of the priority list in the search for their Head Coach position on the team.

HUNDEN was a part of MAD Lions’ starting CSGO roster before hanging up his mouse as a player and chose to coach Heroic. Under him, Heroic went on to win their first-ever championship at ESL Cologne in 2020. After this feat, HUNDEN was handed a 12-month ban by ESL for using the spectator bug in one of Heroic’s games during the DreamHack Masters Spring. The ban period was later brought down to just eight months by the ESIC as the tactician further assisted in the investigation probe laid by the former. He was later reinstated by Heroic as their head coach after serving his 8 month-long ban. 

Today on their website and Twitter, Heroic shed light on the current situation where they have added Mental & Performance Coach Troels “robl” Robl and Physical Coach Kasper Straube to the roster which would support the team during their time at Cologne.

In addition to this, Casper “cadiaN” Møller stated,

We feel great about having Troels in our starting line-up! This is the same set-up as when we won Pro League which gives us a lot of confidence. Heroic is well prepared, and our entire team is super excited for being back on LAN!

Respawn Entertainment’s most successful game, Apex Legends – set in the same universe as Titanfall games, was targeted by hackers yesterday. Apex Legends has had over 100 million players during its lifetime, with 330,000+ concurrent players on Steam alone. 

Players who launched Apex Legends were unable to play the game, except for a ‘limited-time event’ mode which diverted the players to a website called savetitanfall.com. The website, set up by disgruntled Titanfall fans, claims that “hacker issues have been at rise. The Titanfall community has been begging Respawn to fix this issue for over three years but to no avail. Today this game is still being sold while being completely unplayable. It’s time we speak up.”   It seems that the hack was clearly intended to spread awareness to the glaring problems with Titanfall.

Titanfall has been a victim of DDoS attacks and is still being sold, despite lacking an active player base. The game has been review-bombed with negative reviews on Steam and the fanbase has been vocal about its unplayability. Although its sequel, Titanfall 2, which was well-received for its creative level design, campaign, and multiplayer, has a modest amount of player base which has steadily grown, especially after its release on Steam.

Respawn has issued a server update, several hours after the issue and stated that “this attack—while disruptive—has not put players’ personal information or accounts at risk. More updates to come as we make progress.”

How to destroy hiding places in Fortnite?

Fortnite’s new update in season 7 has seen the developers bring out something exciting for the players. This time after bringing out new challenges in the game, they want the players to complete a quest that includes destroying hiding places in the game.

The quest is actually pretty simple, players have to find the hiding places and then destroy them. Rather than a hiding spot like a bush or behind a tree, hiding places in this sense refer to the handful of objects players can interact with to completely conceal themselves.

We have seen quite a few renowned Fortnite Youtubers have found the most efficient place for the players to drop in and this is Pleasant Park. They have even uploaded videos on where exactly to drop and destroy the hiding places. 

As seen in the video, the players will have to land exactly behind the gas station found in the middle of the eastern edge of the location. You can see a dumpster there which is followed by a port-o-potty just around the corner of the building. 

From there, you can grab a car and head where the welcome signs are placed. There you will find another dumpster against the stone foundation of the blue multi-story house. Once you destroy all three hiding places, the quest will be completed.

There is also an alternate location for the players who want to complete the quest and can’t seem to find the hiding places in Pleasant Park. Players can land at the base camp on the mountain just southwest of Catty Corner. One of the structures there has a trio of port-o-potty’s right next to each other, which can be easily destroyed.

The players who complete this quest will be rewarded with 30,000 XP and those who have already completed the standard Fortnite quests can opt to tackle the Pro 100 LTM, one of the modes required to complete some of the latest Cosmic Summer quests.

During her latest podcast, Twitch streamer Pokimane and Mizkif got into a discussion about FaZe Clan suspending their content creators over promotion of sketchy cryptocurrency and that it might be “illegal”.

2nd July saw FaZe Clan drop Frazier Khattri aka Kay out of the business side of the organization followed by his brother Jarvis along with suspending a few prominent names likes Teeqo and Nikan for promoting sketchy cryptocurrency. Given the names involved, it did not take much time for it to blow up.

Pokimane in her podcast was very critical of the content creators who were at fault and bashed them for showing off before praising FaZe Clan for their decision.  “Oh no, I made four million instead of seven. Wah wah, goo go ga ga. What about the money that viewers are losing who needed it a f**k ton more than you do!” she said.

In the podcast, she explained that the suspension had more to it than it meets the eye, as something like holds the potential to put FaZe in hot waters with the authorities as she speculates that they might have done something illegal. “If that is not verbatim saying that’s illegal, I don’t know whatever could be,”  she explained.

So far out, Kay is the only member who has been dropped with others held at suspension and not to mention under investigation. Given how FaZe was quick to drop big names, Pokimane and Mizkif for sure might be onto something here.
