Valorant: First look at Fracture’s Map Layout, Lore and Release date

0

Announced recently, Valorant’s upcoming map- Fracture, launches alongside Episode 3 Act 2, and is the game’s seventh map, after Bind, Haven, Split, Ascent, Icebox, and Breeze.

Fracture Map Layout

Fracture is Riot Game’s unique take on traditional 5v5 map design, which is usually focused on offering an equally balanced experience for both attackers and defenders.

Having an H-shape design, both sites are a complete opposite of each other as  A-site feels barren, desolated, and has a bleak environment while B-site is full of greenery and life. Brian Yam, Valorant’s Lead Artist, said that this design allows for “visually interesting storytelling by prompting players to question the events that took place and the radical results that ensued. It also provides clear player orientation from a visual and callout perspective.”

The mid-region of the map contains ziplines underneath for traversing between sites A and B and is where defenders will spawn. Breaking away from the traditional fps norms, fracture now divides attackers and spawns them on two sides of the map, putting a huge pressure on defenders as they’ll have to be extra careful since they will be surrounded from both sides.

Riot will also focus on Valorant’s lore, as Fracture was a result of a “covert experiment gone wrong” and will be our first look into the Mirror Earth Kingdom. Fracture expands on the mirror-verse theory which surfaced after the Duality cinematic. “Our aim was to give players a further peek into the conflict at stake between these two worlds,” said David Nottingham, Valorant’s Creative Director, “ in Fracture, we see that perhaps there are aspects of the conflict not as black and white as might initially appear.”

Valorant’s upcoming battle pass and Episode 3 Act 2 will launch on September 8 with Patch 3.05 and fans can only hope that Fracture will answer some lore-related questions.

ESIC Commissioner Claims That Chinese CSGO is “80% Fixed”

In a recent episode of HLTV Confirmed, the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) commissioner Ian Smith has claimed that as much as 80% of the games in the Chinese CSGO scene are fixed.

This comes as a shock to many avid CSGO fans and calls into question the integrity of the professional CSGO scene in China. The commissioner said that the reason Chinese CSGO isn’t broadcasted on HLTV is that most of its games are fixed, which results in the sponsors backing out and the prize pool experiencing cuts.

“Who takes the hit? Prize money reduces when sponsors back out, when broadcasts stop, when HLTV don’t want to put something on because they think it’s corrupt or fixed like 80% of Chinese CSGO,” Smith said during the interview. “Why is there no Chinese CSGO on HLTV? Because it’s fixed! It’s not worth putting on, right? …It’s the players who take the hit, and you guys who take the hit!”

The Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) is a non-profit members’ association established in 2015 to promote and facilitate competitive integrity in esports.

The news comes after the ESIC handed out five-year bans to CSGO pros Sebastian “retchy” Tropiano and Kevin “4pack” Przypasniak after an audio clip of them attempting to fix a game in the ESEA Premier season 35 North America surfaced.

With the Chinese CSGO scene constantly growing larger, the numbers stated by Smith should certainly be a cause of concern for the CSGO community.

Pokimane Reveals Here Biggest Obstacle In The Way Of Reaching Immortal Rank In Valorant

0

Popular Twitch streamer and personality, Imane “Pokimane” Anys has opened up about the difficult obstacles she is facing on her journey to reach Immortal rank in Valorant.

Pokimane is on a dedicated rank grind to hit Immortal rank soon and then reach Radian. But the streamer has failed time and time despite dedicating a lot of time to the grind. While her skills are almost on point to rank up, the in-game harassment and bullying have made it extremely difficult for her to rank up solo.

In a post, on her Twitter she said:

“I find my biggest issue is I don’t like to talk too much in-game (ppl get weird about me being a girl / being poki), and that doesn’t work with being a sova main Smiling face with tear and I don’t have a dependable duo to comm on my behalf ~

so I’m gonna look for one + learn solo q agents” -imane (@imane)

https://twitter.com/imane/status/1431353998863446023

The problem of toxicity and anti-competitive behavior is present in almost every online multiplayer game. But the issue is more apparent in the case of streamers that are often subject to stream snips and more toxicity in general.

Plus being a female gamer there are instances where teammates would act differently upon finding out that there’s a girl in the team. While some become overly affectionate and drop weapons unnecessarily, others are plain rude to play together. Due to this, Pokimane refrains from using her mic in the game, and her team coordination suffers.

She currently mains Sova, who leans heavily on comms and team play. The role requires active use of the microphone, something that she can’t do. She has 3 more accounts which she uses to try out other “solo q agents” in different ranks and get used to them before switching her main Sova to another agent.

Pokimane is currently Diamond in Act 1, while her brother has already reached Immortal rank despite putting in a lower number of hours in the game than her.

CSGO Smoke Bug Wallhack Is Back

Counter Strike and bugs is a tale as old as time, and when a game that has been around as long as CS:GO has, it’s bound to have bugs and glitches every now and then. We all remember then infamous smoke that didn’t bloom instantly and couldn’t control the spread of a Molotov, ‘ropz’ dying to a chicken blocking a door, or even more recently, steps in the water being heard from EVERY position on the map on Ancient.

The smoke bug is no different, be it a regular matchmaking game or at the highest level of Professional CS, it is ever-present. The smoke bug is most prevalent when it is used to extinguish a Molotov or incendiary grenade and temporarily gives the player clear vision through the smoke. Reddit user u/Heinzelboss showed just how menacing this bug is and how it can ruin games by giving the other side a very undeserved advantage.

What is even weirder is that the bug doesn’t reveal what is on the other side of the smoke, and only highlights the outline of the player moving through the smoke. In the new meta, some players such as ‘electronic’ and ‘next sit inside the smoke to wait it out, to catch the opponent off guard, and give themselves a split-second advantage.

This was also highlighted very recently in a Group Stage game between Natus Vincere and FaZe Clan for the top spot in Group C. On the B site of Inferno, Finn “karrigan” Andersen tried to smoke a molly and run through to it. But as you can see, his model was very clearly outlined by the bug giving ‘Perfecto’ an easy chance to kill him and turn the round from a 5v5 to a 5v4 for his team.

Will this bug be patched by Valve anytime soon? All we can do is wait it out, as the company that made the best FPS game for over 2 decades stays silent on most issues and fixes them in the next update. This is of course before the bug is back in some form or the other.

So, as every caster very often tells you, the smoke is not a wall and it will not protect you from stray bullets, smoke walks, or even Smoke Criminals jumping through it.

Where is Hayato’s hometown in Free Fire

As Free Fire enjoys its fourth anniversary, the developers have dropped a series of events for the players where they win in-game items and skins. These events will run till the end of the first week of September, so make sure to grab them before. Besides rewards upon completion of tasks, the game will also offer daily unique login rewards.

The Free Fire 4th Anniversary Quiz event began on the 20th that brings a simple questionnaire for the players to answer. Players of all ranks can compete here to get rewards in exchange and the question looks are somewhat like this:

Question: Where is Hayato’s Hometown?

Option 1: Nurek Dam

Option 2: Clock Tower

Option 3: Samurai Garden

Option 4: The Peak

The correct answer to this question is Samurai Garden.

The rewards for the Free Fire 4th Anniversary Quiz event are the Gold Royale Voucher for answering 1/5 correctly, Party Animal Weapon Look Box3 for answering 2/5 correctly, Pet Foodx3 for answering 3/5 correctly, Crimson Neon Parachute for answering 4/5 correctly, and 4th Anniversary Pin for answering 5/5 correctly.

As per the lore Free Fire story of Hayato, he was a child hailing from an incredible Samurai family. He was the lone offspring of the family so Hayato needs to carry on the family custom and glory going forward.

Here’s Why People Are Boycotting Twitch Today

0

Twitch stats have taken a massive hit today as several popular streamers are partaking in ‘A Day Off Twitch’ movement and choosing to stay off the streaming platform for a day.

For the unaware, ‘ADayOffTwitch’ is a boycott of Twitch for a day organized by renowned streamers in protest against the recent rise of hate speech and harassment on the platform and Twitch’s inability to tackle the problem accordingly.

‘A Day Off Twitch’ boycott has been organized by popular streamers like RekitRaven, ShineyPen, and Lucia Everblack in response to the ‘hate raids’ that have been causing problems in the streaming community. These hate raids are organized by toxic viewers who use the ‘raid’ feature on Twitch to spread hate speech and harassment towards certain streamers on the platform.

The boycott has been organized in protest against these hate raids and to force Twitch to implement changes to tackle this issue.

So far, ‘A Day Off Twitch’ has been a successful boycott to say the least. According to a recent Tweet from Zach Bussey, Twitch had apparently taken a hit of 5,000 online streamers and 500,000 viewers at the time of writing.

His Tweet reads, “According to charts from TwitchTracker, there are *currently* about 5000 fewer streamers live right now than last week and ~500,000 fewer viewers. (That’s a significant drop.)”

The boycott is expected to last for a day and participating streamers will likely return to streaming tomorrow. However, whether or not Twitch can regain its prior numbers post-boycott still remains to be seen.

Judge Dredd is coming to Call of Duty Warzone & Black Ops Cold War

0

Call of Duty has released a teaser on their official Twitter handle that indicates the remarkable British comic character Judge Dredd is coming to Warzone along with Black Ops Cold War.

The tweet includes Judge Dredd’s badge, golden armor, gloves, and weapon. Even though they officially didn’t mention the Judge Dredd character, it’s pretty clear to all the Dredd fans.

Judge Dredd is a law enforcement officer in the dystopian future city of Mega-City One. The city covers most of the east coast of North America. He is a “street judge”, empowered to arrest, convict, sentence, and execute criminals. The character was also featured in the cinema twice. One in 1995 by Sylvester Stallone and the other in 2012 by Karl Urban.

We will most probably get Karl Urban’s version of the character as Sylvester Stallone’s Rambo character is already available in the game.

The developers haven’t come up with a release date yet. However, we will most likely get the character soon.

Astralis reveal dev1ce’s transfer fee and more

Earlier this week the Astralis Group did a midyear roundup of their finances which showed a huge improvement in their performance, compared to the past year. A huge chunk of this was, of course, owing to the transfer of Nicolai ‘dev1ce’ Reedtz to Ninjas in Pyjamas. The Astralis group is a publicly-traded one, and thus the shareholders have every right to enquire about the finances, and Astralis duly obliged by posting the details for the first half of the financial year 2021.

As per the report, Astralis generated $6.24 million from Jan 1, 2021, to June 30, 2021. This is a huge jump up from the $3.26 million generated in the same period in the year 2020. This was down to the global pandemic, with investors pulling out of deals as they couldn’t sustain the losses. But since then, things have been looking better for all parties, with offline tournaments and investors coming back.

The 4 time major winners lost $4.8 million last year in the first 6 months, but they cut it down to less than half that amount in 2021, losing $2.01 million in the process. Astralis CEO Nikolaj Nyholm did reveal that player sales are NOT part of the revenue generated for the group, so the sale of ‘dev1ce’ to NiP did not actually play a part in the improved situation for the Danes.

Delving deeper into the report, it stated that the sale of the 2 time Major MVP cost Swedish side NiP close to US$715,000. When dev1ce left in late April 2021, it was reported that the transfer cost NiP nearly a million US dollars, but the finances reveal that it was closer to 700k USD, which is in no way a small amount and for a player of the calibre of dev1ce, it may well be worth every penny that the Swedes spent on him. The sale also paved way for the signing of ‘Lucky’ from Tricked esports.

Also as per Valves ruling, each team that has in-game items in CSGO, get a percentage of the amount every time that item is sold or bought on the market. This includes the latest 2020 RMR stickers, Player Autographs and Souvenir skins. The report stated that Astralis made nearly 1 Million USD from sticker sales alone, which would only improve once the Major comes around and new stickers come into the game.

Astralis are also partnered with ESL and BLAST Premier, the biggest TOs in CSGO currently and also have teams in FIFA and League of Legends, with CSGO being their most profitable endeavour, winning 4 majors in 2.5 years, a feat unmatched till now.
