Rematch x Puma Collaboration Brings New Branded Kits

0

Footballer-inspired arcade game Rematch has taken a new leap in uniting digital entertainment and real-life sportswear with its new collaboration. The game has officially partnered with the legendary sports label Puma, featuring fully branded kits that players can now acquire. This is a landmark moment for the game, marking the start of branded content that merges fashion and competitive gaming.

The news came straight from Sloclap, the maker of the game Rematch, who framed the launch as the game’s “first-ever full in-game branded kit.” The release also teases that this is merely the start, with other collaborations and branded content potentially on the horizon. As a worldwide sports apparel leader, Puma’s foray into Rematch makes it a precedent for other in-game fashion drops that combine sport and style.

Puma kits have gone live and are available in the game store, providing the players with a fashionable makeover for their team’s look. It is not merely an addition for cosmetics’ sake; it is part of an increasing trend of sportswear brands embracing the world of gaming, particularly in games with a solid multiplayer or competitive aspect. For Rematch, which is still growing a devoted player base with its high-energy, arcade-style approach to football, this partnership brings a touch of authenticity and aspirational whimsy.

As for how players can get their hands on these kits, it’s simple enough for now. The entire Puma kit set costs 1,000 gold coins, the in-game currency for Rematch. Coins can be accumulated gradually through play, especially by moving through the Battle Pass system. But those wanting to get an instant unlock can buy directly from the game shop. As of now, getting the amount to spend on the Puma kit would require around $10, which provides a relatively affordable way for enthusiasts to show their colors in-game.

This collaboration is a sign of an even larger trend in how fashion and gaming continue to overlap. As prominent sportswear brands become more and more involved in the virtual space as a way of reaching young, digitally native consumers, collaborations such as this one between Puma and Rematch will only become more prevalent. Not only does it beautify the appearance of the game, but it also contributes a layer of personalization and brand identity that speaks to players.

For the time being, Rematch users are able to revel in strutting onto the pitch wearing Puma’s stylish suits, with more content on the horizon.

What is EOMM in Marvel Rivals?

Ever get the feeling that Marvel Rivals is handing you a team of interns while the enemy squad gets the literal Avengers? If you think the game’s matchmaking system is out to get you, don’t worry, you’re not alone in feeling that way. And honestly, it might not just be in your head.

Marvel Rivals players around the world have frequently reported bizarre matchmaking patterns, often leading to massive losing streaks fueled by a consistent series of bad teammates.

As a result, many players have begun accusing the hero shooter of using EOMM.

But what exactly is EOMM, and how does it impact your Marvel Rivals ranked games?

EOMM in Marvel Rivals Explained

In the world of online multiplayer video games, EOMM stands for Engagement Optimized Matchmaking. It’s a system that, instead of aiming for fair matches, tries to retain and maximize player engagement.

EOMM can often stack the odds against you by placing you in matches you’re likely to lose, while at times it can also hand you some free wins.

The idea behind EOMM is to avoid scenarios that might make players quit. However, it’s easy to find yourself getting frustrated when the game sticks you with a team of underperformers for the nth time in a row.

Does Marvel Rivals Use EOMM?

While NetEase hasn’t officially confirmed the use of EOMM in Marvel Rivals, the community has put forward several reasons to suspect that the idea might not be so far-fetched.

NetEase, the devs behind Marvel Rivals, have previously implemented EOMM-style matchmaking in other titles. Additionally, players have reported repeated patterns of major loss streaks suddenly followed by strings of easy wins, adding more fuel to the speculation

Some players even claim to have found a way to exploit EOMM to achieve more wins. By quitting the game for a few hours after two consecutive losses, they believe that they can trigger easier matchups and farm win streaks.

At the end of the day, the use of EOMM in Marvel Rivals remains unconfirmed. However, if you’re having a tough time climbing the competitive spectrum of the hero shooter, consider taking a break after losing a couple of games in a row.

Heroes

1. Winter Soldier’s Winter Woes: We’ve fixed a bug where Bucky’s Ultimate Ability could be abnormally interrupted if Captain America initiated their Team-Up Ability at the same time. Now, when the Winter Soldier unleashes his fury, nothing will freeze him in his tracks!
2. Magneto’s Magnetic Mayhem: Resolved a glitch where Max’s Ultimate Ability Iron Meteor could take a detour when destroyed by enemies during high latency conditions, causing it to jump around like a rogue Sentinel. Now, when the Iron Meteor gets taken down, it stays down.
3. Mister Fantastic’s Elastic Errors: Fixed a rare misfire where Reed’s Distended Grip ability would sometimes register a hit without actually connecting at extreme distances, causing him to stretch himself too thin. Now his hits are as reliable as the Fantastic Four!
4. Iron Fist’s Flying Fists: Corrected an issue where Lin Lie could still move while snagged by Squirrel Girl’s Squirrel Blockade while using Jeet Kune Do in the air. Now, the only thing that should be flying is his fists, no more acrobatics under squirrel control!
5. Doctor Strange’s Sorcerous Shenanigans: Fixed a bug where Stephen might miss out on Ultimate Ability Energy from terrain KOs if enemies passed through multiple portals before being eliminated. Now, the Sorcerer Supreme will always reap the rewards of his mystical maneuvers!

FTC Fortnite Refunds: $126M Disbursed in Second Wave of Historic Settlement

0

The Federal Trade Commission has opened the second stage of its record refund effort linked to the Fortnite settlement, starting to disburse more than $126 million to eligible gamers in the United States. This follows a previous payout of about $72 million, taking total refunds to about $198 million, and inching closer towards the $245 million set aside for refunds.

In December 2022, Epic Games reached a historic settlement with the FTC in which it agreed to pay $520 million in total, $245 million for refunds to customers and another $275 million for breaking the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). The probe found that Fortnite’s design employed “dark patterns,” deceptive design practices that led users, including children, into unintentional purchases with little prompting, such as inadvertently tapping a button during loading or browsing a product. The FTC also found that Epic hid fees, allowed kids to make unauthorized purchases without parental permission, and even blocked users who objected to charges from viewing some content.

The FTC says 969,173 players have been paid out through PayPal and checks in this round. With about $126 million paid out, the mean refund is around $130 per individual, more than the $114 average paid in December 2024 to 629,344 claimants, which was worth about $72 million. Putting both phases together, the FTC has made up to around $198 million in refunds, with about $47 million remaining unallocated for later payouts.

How to claim your refund

If you missed the first refund window (which was from September 2023 through January 2024), there’s still hope—the FTC has extended the deadline to July 9, 2025.
Eligible consumers can file or update their first refund requests through the official website: www.ftc.gov/Fortnite.

The initial eligibility criteria are still:

  • Players charged for accidental in-game purchases with V‑Bucks from January 2017 through September 2022;
  • Parents whose kids made unauthorized buys between January 2017 and November 2018;
  • Customers whose accounts were blocked following the dispute of unauthorized transactions over the same period.

This resolution has made history not only because it is one of the biggest consumer redress actions in gaming, but it is also the FTC’s first significant enforcement of deceptive microtransaction models. The hide-and-go button design, payment mechanism confusion, and simplicity of unintentional purchase all highlighted the increasing issue with unethical “dark patterns.” The FTC’s formalized penalty and public attention indicate a shift towards openness and consumer-centric design in the video game space.

FBI Reveals New Suspects in Unsolved Pokémon Go Murder in San Francisco

In a fresh bid to solve one of San Francisco’s most mystifying cold cases, the FBI has issued new sketches and information nearly nine years after a young man was shot and killed while playing Pokémon Go in Aquatic Park.

In the late evening of August 6, 2016, 20-year-old Calvin Riley, a rising pitching star at San Joaquin Delta College and a graduate of Junipero Serra High School in San Mateo, class of 2015, was playing a Pokémon Go game with a friend outside Ghirardelli Square. Around 9:50 PM, according to witnesses, Riley was hit from behind unexpectedly. His phone and wallet were left intact, which provided evidence to presume that this incident was not a robbery but a planned attack.

Riley’s friend, who had been visiting from Boston, later testified that he witnessed a man get into a car and speed away after the gunshot had echoed. The first responding officers from SFPD and the U.S. Park Police detected no exchange of words, no confrontation between people, just sheer senseless brutality that took away a bright young life.

Initial Investigation and Family Response

Shortly after the shooting, police reconstructed the initial composite sketch of a suspect, a man who had been accompanied by a brunette woman in a car. Authorities also learned of two suspicious cars – a white Hyundai Sonata (approximately 2013) and a dark-colored Audi A3 wagon (2006–2009). Both vehicles were said to come and go from the area together, indicating that they were possibly working together.

By 2017, the Riley family and U.S. Park Police had increased the reward to $110,000, hoping to encourage fresh leads. Sean Riley, Calvin’s father, spoke out publicly in increasing frustration with the investigation, stating the case warranted more priority than was being given by the Park Police.

New FBI Insights

In 2023, federal investigators took over the case officially, and an intense re-examination of remaining clues followed. On June 24, 2025, the FBI revealed a second sketch of another person at the scene – a bald man with glasses and a long beard. He was believed to have been videotaping in the area as the crime was committed.

No drawing has yet been made public of the blonde woman who accompanied her, furthering the necessity for public help in identification. The FBI has now offered a new $25,000 reward for information that may result in arrests.

The Riley family, meanwhile, has conducted vigils and set up online memorials, such as “Justice for Calvin Riley,” to keep the public aware that his killing remains unsolved. Sean Riley, currently living in Boston, has been outspoken in calling for a renewed investigation, saying: “It’s basically torn our family apart… It’s been a nightmare for nine years.”

The FBI emphasizes that even seemingly small details like the color or make of the Audi A3, the Sonata, or who the subjects are in the drawings, may be the tipping point to finally provide closure.

Perfecto Joins Virtus.pro

Ilya ‘Perfecto’ Zalutskiy, once revered as the best anchor in the world, is back in action but this time in the colors of Virtus.pro, replacing FL4MUS after a string of disappointing results.

This change will see Perfecto reunite with fellow Russian Denis ‘electronic’ Sharipov, who now leads the VP CS2 roster as the IGL. Both Perfecto and Electronic parted ways with NAVI, hoping to find success under the Cloud9 banner. Still, several iterations later, the organization once again dissolved, leaving Perfecto on the bench for an extended period of time.

The new Virtus.pro roster managed to find impressive results but failed to go the distance in most tournaments, which goes to show that the potential is there, which they look to sharpen with the addition of a veteran like Perfecto.

VP now looks like:

The whole roster on paper is expected to do well, but we cannot be sure until we see these five players take on the big names in the second half of 2025. While the talent is there, it is hard to tell if the blend of experience and talent is enough to form a strong team.
