Valorant: Episode 5 Act 1 Leaks reveal “Prelude to Chaos” Bundle

0

With the conclusion of Episode 4 Act 3 on the horizon, the community have got to witness a handful of leaks swarm the social media, most notably on Twitter which have been revealed by one among the esteemed data miners, ValorLeaks who have tweeted out the upcoming map Pearl and its blueprint alongside the soon to be revealed weapon skin bundle and a glimpse at the Episode 5 Act 1 Battle Pass.

Valorant, Riot’s FPS, has been a resounding success since its release in 2020, thanks to its unique blend of tactical shooting mechanics and ability-based gameplay along with a wide selection of incredible-looking cosmetics that indeed have enticed the player-base to grind the game out.

A new skinline, “Prelude to Chaos” has set its path to the first-person tactical shooter which features a set of five weapons in the bundle. The bundle is rumored to be made available at the cost of 8700 Valorant Points while individual pricing of 2175 Valorant points has been set if you wish to purchase your desired weapon cosmetic outside of the bundle.

The bundle will have the following list of weapons alongside a gun buddy and a spray.

  • Shorty : 3 levels, 3 additional variants
  • Vandal : 3 levels, 3 additional variants
  • Operator : 3 levels, 3 additional variants
  • Stinger : 3 levels, 3 additional variants
  • Melee Weapon : 2 levels , 3 additional variants

The leaks further suggest that the game will be getting the highly anticipated tournament mode which was earlier reported in August 2021 by ValorLeaks on Twitter. A series of pictures from the map Pearl and a blueprint of the same have also been revealed.

In addition to the above, the Battlepass content has also been leaked ahead of its actual release which is set to bring in three different variables of weapon cosmetics namely, Shimmer, Spitfire, and Task Force 809.

  • Classic
  • Judge
  • Stinger

Spitfire

“Damien calling tactical breaks and Stewie saying no. I’ve never seen that”: EVY

After just five months of having signed the ex-Cloud9 major winning trio Timothy “autimatic” Ta, William “RUSH” Wierzba, and Jake “Stewie2K” Yip to their active CS:GO division, Evil Geniuses found themselves unable to keep the ball rolling after failing to qualify for the PGL Antwerp 2022 Major following their exit from the ESL Pro League Season 15 with a winless record, 0-5. This led to head coach Damien “maLeK” Marcel benching himself to an inactive role while the team parted ways with EVY, assistant to maLeK.

In an exclusive video interview with 1pv.fr and later published in a written format, EVY shed light on the hardships the coaching staff faced while working with Stewie2K and company.

“The basic idea going forward was to part with Stewie, 1000%. In the end, it was maLeK or Stewie. We could have kept Stewie as a player, although he could have challenged the authority and made his star, but it could have worked. When the players have figured out the Stewie problem, if you don’t make changes, who do you put in the lead?” were the closing words of EVY who explained the whole situation to French journalist Guillaume “neLendirekt” Rathier.

There is definitely more to this which lays the foundation of what exactly went wrong within EG, citing the crushing attitude of Stewie2K’s which was called out by EVY in the interview.

“Stewie wouldn’t say hello to Damien when we walked into the room, starting on day 5/6. When Damien spoke, he was turned back to his pc, he wasn’t listening to him. Sometimes Stewie would listen to Damien and then turn around and not respond. One of the worst things I’ve seen is denying tactical breaks. Damien called tactical breaks and Stewie said no. I’ve never seen that, and from the first official game. We looked at each other and we didn’t understand.”

With the above claim, the whole EG roster had reported this attitude of their IGL a few months later after crashing out of the Regional Major Ranking tournament of the PGL Antwerp Major 2022 to which the staff team weren’t at all surprised, having radioed mayday at the very start of their challenge. It has also been brought to the community that Stewie2K sometimes would ignore new ideas discussed within the team to only come up with the same idea after a day or two, labeling it as his own.

“At the end of the RMR, the players came to us, it’s been 3 months, and 3 months at EG is a very very long time… the players tell us ‘Paolo, Stewie’s attitude, it’s not okay.‘… bro we’ve been telling you that since day 2!

Despite the fact that Stewie2K stopped calling at the Pro League in the absence of maLeK and with EVY behind the players and with their CEO Nicole LaPointe Jameson having noticed the same, no further steps were taken regarding the dismissive behavior of the former including his playstyle which was sometimes funny and would rage too as mentioned above.

autimatic too had backed Stewie2K during EVY and maLeK’s tenure which indeed had left the European duo shocked.

We meet the first night at the restaurant and I hear stuff… “My vision of a coach is a guy who doesn’t decide and assists”. The American mentality is that the coach is a yes man, he gets paid $XXk to say ‘yes! Nice guys‘. From the first night, I said to myself ‘watch out, red flag‘. That was autimatic’s vision, a vision that has evolved by the way, and I think he really regrets our departures with maLeK. In the beginning, he was in stewie’s camp, like “let us do our shit, we won a major we know how to do“.

Initially, maLeK had resisted the signing of Stewie2K to the roster but it was once again the EG Management who were adamant on the transfer of the 24-year-old from Team Liquid. Ever since they completed their roster with the signings of RUSH and autimatic, only Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte and Tsvetelin “CeRq” Dimitrov had been supportive of the project while RUSH was trying to bridge the gap between the players and the coach.

Stay tuned for what Stewie2K has to say as he suggested that every story has two sides and would reveal his part of the story live on Twitch.

CS:GO update lowers magazine size of M4A1-S, details inside

The most debatable Counter-Terrorist rifle, the M4A1-S’s magazine capacity has been cut short to just 20 bullets while its reserve capacity now holds 80 bullets in the latest update which was revealed and applied to CSGO, the first-person shooter by Valve. A brief buff was applied to the said weapon during Operation Riptide and since then has replaced the M4A4 which indeed spearheaded the meta.

Additionally, the latest update addresses several changes to maps, most notably Ancient where the “Cave” area has been reworked alongside the two bomb sites on the recently added map while the bomb explosion damage has been increased to 620 blocks from the previous set parameter of 500 which does indicate that saving your weapon at the corner of the large pit post a default plant won’t be an option going forward due to the updated intensity of the explosion.

New Valorant Rank ‘Ascendant’ Revealed Ahead of Episode 5 Act 1 Release

0

With the launch of Valorant Episode 5 Act 1 just around the corner, fans of the shooter are constantly growing more eager to know about what the new update will bring to the title.

While the detailed patch notes haven’t been revealed by Riot Games as of yet, we do have plenty to look forward to including the new map, a fresh Battle Pass, new skin bundles, and much more.

According to a new leak by popular Valorant dataminer ‘ValorLeaks,’ the new update might also bring to the game a new rank – ‘Ascendant’. The Ascendant rank is set to bridge the skill gap between Diamond and Immortal, and players will have to climb through the three tiers of Ascendant before making it to Immortal from the next update.

You can take a look at the new Ascendant rank with its three separate tiers of rank badges below:

This new Ascendant skill group is likely to improve the competitive environment of Valorant by widening the ranking ecosystem of the tactical shooter. However, it also might make the grind to Radiant much tougher, as players will now have to cross an additional three tiers of ranks before being able to make it to Immortal in Valorant.

Valorant is a multiplayer FPS title developed and published by Riot Games in June 2021. It is currently available to play for free on PC, while a mobile version of the game is still in the works.

There are currently a total of eight separate ranks in Valorant, and with the exception of Radiant, each rank is further subdivided into three tiers.

With the addition of ‘Ascendant’ this ranking spectrum will be further broadened to a total of nine separate rank groups.

Here are all the current ranks in Valorant:

  • Iron
  • Bronze
  • Silver
  • Gold
  • Platinum
  • Diamond
  • Immortal
  • Radiant

The Ascendant rank will bridge the gap between Diamond and Immortal, and will likely help players get matched with other players of similar skill level.

The group stage for Valorant Champion Tour North America concluded on 12th June, with Optic Gaming and XSet at the top of their groups. The Group Stage was a constant battle, and the seedings or which team would make out of the group stage was a continuous tussle until the last day of the group stage.

From Group A, Xset was a constant contender for the Playoffs and was the first team to qualify, While similarly, Optic Gaming from Group B qualified.

From Group A, Along with Xset, Ghost Gaming, 100 Thieves, and NRG esports managed to qualify, with NRG winning over the Guard to win the game. 100 Thieves had a solid start to the tournament, but losing to XSET dropped them to the third seed. At the same time, Ghost Gaming lost only one game to XSET.

The Guard and TSM had a lousy tournament run but would try to make a solid run in the NA LCQ to qualify for the Valorant Champions. Similarly, Cloud9 blue from Group B faltered despite winning the opening game and failed to qualify for Playoffs. The Sentinels Slump continued with their chances to make it seem slim to the LCQ.

From group B, Optic, as expected, managed to win over all their contemporaries, only losing to Evil Geniuses. EG had a solid tournament run, and they surprised everyone with their strong performance. Faze Clan made a solid comeback after losing their initial two matches and won the rest of the matches 2-0 to become the second seed. Luminosity stayed strong and managed to qualify after winning our C9B.

The playoffs are set to start today, 16th June, at 20:00 GMT. The top seeds would have a by in the first rounds, while the last seed must fight through the lower brackets to qualify for VCT Masters Copenhagen.

Out of these eight teams, two teams would make it to the VCT Masters Copenhagen.

The opening sets of matches would see, Faze Clan taking on 100 Thieves as the opening match of playoffs.

The second game of the day would see Ghost Gaming taking on EG. The losers of these matches would face NRG and Luminosity the day after.

The playoffs would be two-week-long, with the finals scheduled for 26th June and hopefully as closed as the Group Stage. Esports viewership is about to get a big boost as the Battlegrounds Mobile India is coming to television for the first time ever. This partnership between Nodwin Gaming and Star Sports has enabled esports fans to watch their favorite teams compete in tournaments on their television.

BGMI Master Series will start on 24th June 2022 and will be live on Star Sports 2 from the time period of 8.30 PM to 11.30 PM IST. A total of 24 teams will be participating in this event and further details are yet to be released by the organizers.

Akshat Rathee, the Managing Director and Co-founder of Nodwin Gaming commented on this partnership. His statement is given below:

Through this collaboration with a mainstream sports channel, we hope to break that mold. Satellite television does have its advantages, like its unrivaled reach across every nook and corner of the country, uninterrupted and timely broadcast that is not dependent on internet connectivity, and speed as well as affordability for the masses living in far-out areas.

-Akshat Rathee, Managing Director and Co-founder of Nodwin Gaming.

Disney Star’s Head of Sports Sanjog Gupta had the following to say about this esteemed collaboration:

Esports in India is a fast-growing segment which has seen accelerated adoption over the last two years. It has immense headroom for growth in India when compared with its status in evolved markets around the world. It is also gaining prominence in the ecosystem as a competitive sport. Esports competitions have already developed a niche following on digital platforms.

Sanjog Gupta, Head of Sports, Disney Stars

This is not the first time that esports will see the face of television but it is definitely the first time that such a massive event will be broadcasted on television within the prime time of 8:30 PM to 11:30 PM IST.

The partnership aims to grow esports in India even more and this move will most certainly bring a larger audience to the BGMI esports community.

Bleed Ominous Talks about Valorant Analysis, Impact rating and need for accurate performance indicators in Valorant

0

Bleed is among the strongest teams in the Malaysia/Singapore Valorant circuit amongst teams like Paper Rex. Bleed has solidified its position as a strong contender for this split’s APAC representation for Valorant Champions Tour Masters Copenhagen, Especially after their solid Play-In stage run.

Coming Thursday, Bleed is set to face the top seed from Philipines, Team Secret. The key factor in a team’s performance is the Coach and the Support Staff, and we were fortunate enough to interview Bleed’s Analyst Sushant Jha aka Bleed Ominous

Ominous is a 22-year-old Computer Science graduate who decided to use his technical skills for esports and has been working in esports since September 2021. The Young Analyst was always interested in playing Tactical FPSs, starting with CS Source back in the day and then CSGO for six years, transitioning to Valorant when the Beta came out.

He used the nickname Ominous because he enjoyed playing with the alias. And despite playing tact-FPS for eight or so years, Ominous was always interested in getting on the management side of things instead of playing.

Being a computer science engineer, Ominous was introduced to Data Visualization and Machine Learning and being a football fan. He started applying the data visualization techniques he learned in football matches; he posted them on Twitter.

But with football being a traditional sport and many people already doing it, He chose to switch to his other passion, Valorant.

He then started posting analytical data-driven insights on Reddit and Twitter. His first extensive report on Jett Players in Korea got a lot of traction. With George Geddes acknowledging his work. Eventually, he caught the eye of VLR.gg’s Emery Winter, aka tamagao, and was approached to write analytical articles for VLR arounds VCT Master’s Berlin. You can read the articles here.

With the article on VLR, Ominous then started at Run it back and eventually became the analyst for Bleed in May 2022.

Ominous firmly believes analysis should be data-centric. The data should back conclusions and inferences. While working for the team, Ominous uses the past numerical data to find the critical tendencies of the team while also reviewing the team’s playstyle, composition, and map pool.

He uses the general analysis for anti-strating a team with the help of VOD reviews which are complemented by the data points, saving a lot of his time.

He also said the data helps him find the problems in his team much faster and helps point out where the problem lies, simplifying solving them. Ominous looks upto NRG’s Jost ‘JoshRT’ Lee, In terms of analysis for Valorant, and tries to follow his ways while working as an analyst. He also mentioned run-it-back working with JoshRT and DeMars Derover on a paper for MIT Sloan Sports Analysis Conference while he was there.

Ominous believes the data can easily represent a region with 90% accuracy, with outliers for every region. According to Ominous, Numbers aren’t the only deciding factor regarding the team’s performance. Despite having proper strategies and putting up the numbers, there are factors outside of numbers, namely communication and individual confidence, which affect the outcome of a game.

The prime example of this has to be the young team CNJ from VCT Korea, who are performing well but have trouble closing out the games.

While working with run-it-back, Ominous was part of developing Impact Rating is a double-precision numerical representation of a player’s impact in the game, which depends on the damage, kills, the positioning of the kill, and the general situation. The Rating is on a scale of 0.00-3.00, with anything above 1.50 considered positive while anything above 2.00 is considered good.

Ominous also emphasized the role of an IGL in the team and commented that the impact they have is beyond numbers. With his experience with Bleed, the chances of winning a round increases for Bleed if their IGL is alive. And despite not fragging out, IGLs have a decent impact rating throughout the games.

While talking about his Outstanding Performance posts, he says he uses a person’s performance throughout the region and decides the teams and players based on the impact and other statistical data.

Ominous believes a structured team would have long-lasting success and better understand the game. While the free-flowing playstyle might work against similar teams, against a structured team, such playstyle would always struggle.

The prime example of both the extremes is DRX and Paper Rex, with DRX winning against Paper Rex the two times they met. He also mentioned EDG or Edward Gaming, a strong competitor with a free-flowing playstyle from China and would debut in East Asia LCQ and be the team to look out for.

While discussing his plans, Ominous mentioned he wishes to keep working on developing concrete stat and performance indicators for teams and players similar to the “Impact Rating” they are already developing while continuing as an analyst for Bleed.

The data and stats currently available with Valorant are still lacking, and he wishes to create solid performance indicators for Valorant which would accurately represent a player’s performance.

Ominous wishes to be the head of Esports Data Analysis and handle data from multiple esports, but for now, he wants to continue with Valorant to see how far statistical analysis advances for Valorant.

For now, Bleed and Ominous have the Valorant Champions Tour: APAC challengers as the primary obstacle they’d want to win and wish to attend VCT Master Copenhagen. All the best to Bleed for their matches. Thank you, Ominous, for agreeing to the interview, and all the best for all your future endeavors.
