Report: G2 Esports to bench IGL Aleksib and Coach XTQZZZ

According to a report from blix.gg, G2 Esports now ponder upon the decision to replace their current In-Game Leader Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen and Head Coach Rémy “XTQZZZ” Quoniam. The report hits the rock just six months after the duo had signed up for the main roster of G2 Esports CS:GO.

Earlier in January, G2 Esports had swapped Nemanja “nexa” Isaković with Aleksib from OG Esports and acquired XTQZZZ from Team Vitality, as a part of their post PGL Stockholm Major roster overhaul. Getting Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov prior to these signings was a massive deal, Carlos “ocelote” Rodríguez had locked himself in. But after just six months of the mentioned changes, a whistleblower seems to have already gone off for the European Mixture after they recently crashed out of the ongoing IEM: Cologne 2022, being hosted at the Cathedral of Esports.

Reports do suggest the departure of Aleksib and XTQZZZ is on the cards which put G2 Esports in a position to rebuild. Let alone IEM: Cologne 2022, the team barely had their ball rolling with a group stage exit from the PGL Antwerp Major at the hands of FURIA and a playoff defeat against the same opponent at the IEM: Dallas 2022

With the current report still coming as a shock to many, its feasibility is yet to be determined with XTQZZZ ruling out it as ‘Fake’, earlier tweeted out by the 33-year-old tactician although Aleksib has yet to comment on the same.

Do stay tuned with us at TalkEsport for further updates on the above report.

Valorant Masters Copenhagen Playoff Fixtures Revealed

The Group Stage of Valorant Champions Tour Masters Copenhagen concludes today with the final sets of qualification matches to be played between Japan’s Northeption and EMEA’s FPX, while the Defending champions Optic Gaming play LATAM’s KRU Esports.

The playoffs follow up immediately, with the draws already declared by Riot Games.

The Quarterfinals will probably start with NA#1 XSET set to play the winner of the Group A decider, which will be played today between Optic Gaming and KRU esports.

Yesterday, Optic Gaming defeated the Brazilian #1 LOUD in a close-fought series to stay in contention. KRU esports lost to Guild a day before after three OTs.

The second quarterfinals would have Leviatan, the LATAM#1, taking on the Korean power of DRX, who has been showcasing what they are capable of on the international stage after defeating FPX and Northeption with a clear definition.

The third quarterfinals would have the tournament favorites and the EMEA #1 Seed Fnatic waiting for their opponents, who’d be either the Japanese Northeption or EMEA’s second seed FPX.

FPX started strong despite the substitute in the tournament by beating XERXIA in a close-fought series. Still, they fell to DRX to play Northeption today, who themselves, after a loss to DRX, beat XERXIA to play the Group B Decider.

APAC #1 Paper Rex will play Guild Esports in the last quarterfinal. Guild Esports was the first team to qualify from the group stage to the playoffs, and Guild beat Optic Gaming and KRU Esports to reach the playoffs.

The group stage was one of the most hype tournaments to date, with only one match being a one-sided affair, and has seen the most number of OTs in a valorant tournament to date. All matches have always gone the distance, with DRX being the only team that seemed a bit better than their contemporaries.

The playoff fixtures seem exciting, too, with the only downside being NA and EMEA representatives would play each other in the quarterfinals. The playoff stage is a double elimination bracket, and all the teams get a buffer of one loss.

The matches would start at 15:00 GMT and start tomorrow as the group plays conclude today.

Low-driven shots undoubtedly make the goalkeeper struggle to save the ball. However, you have to know how to use the low-driven shot properly.

Let’s take a look at the buttons combination:

  • Xbox Controller (Default): LB + RB + B (use B for power)
  • PlayStation Controller (Default): L1 + R1 + Circle (use Circle for power)

Note: The low-driven shot is most effective when you are in a 1v1 situation within the 18-yard box.

Northeption Eliminate Xerxia Esports at Valorant Masters Copenhagen

The first elimination match of the event had XERXIA taking on the Japanese debutant Northeption on the third day of Valorant Champions Tour Masters Copenhagen.

Xerxia is hot from a defeat from FPX, which was one of the most contested series, and Xerxia was edged out on the last map.

While Northeption faced DRX with a closely contested first map, Northeption was dominated on the second map to lose their first international match.

Today’s match would have just one survivor, and the loser would be eliminated from the event. The map veto started with Northeption banning Icebox, While XERXIA banned Fracture, a map they permanently ban.

Northeption picked Split while Xerxia picked Haven to play as their first map. The following two bans were Breeze and Ascent from Northeption and Xerxia, respectively, while Bind remains the decider.

Northeption’s split started with them on attack and, despite starting well, had a tough time breaking Xerxia’s defence, with Northeption losing the half 4-8.

Xerxia, now on the attack, started poorly with them losing the first four rounds. Xerxia reset their mental and found answers to Northeption’s defence and won the game 13-9.

With this, Xerxia won Northeption’s map pick, putting Northeption on the back foot.

The second map, Haven, was a must-win for the Northeption side, and despite losing the first two rounds, they went on to win the next eight rounds to close out the half 8-4.

The second half started well for Northeption, winning the first three rounds. XERXIA managed to put up a fight, but Northeption, with Meteor’s opening duel wins, and Derialy’s flanks, Northeption managed to close out the game 13-8, forcing out the third map.

Bind started with a back and forth, and both teams started exchanging rounds with each other both teams were always one or two rounds away from each other, with the first half of the last map ending in a draw.

The second half was similar, with both teams going at each other, with Meteor and foxz led the charge from both sides and exchanged blows after blows, and the second half with JoxJo’s heroics ended with a draw, too, forcing overtime.

The overtime started with Sscary winning a 1v2 clutch on the attack to gain an advantage. But Meteors opening kill on Brimstone helped Northeption equalise the game.

The second OT started with Northeption, completely halting Xerxia’s push. On attack, they rushed into B, taking control to win the game in the second OT with a score of 15-13

With this Northeption win the series 2-1, eliminate Xerxia and will play FunPlus Phoenix tomorrow for a spot in Playoffs.

Optic Gaming Edge Out LOUD to Avoid Elimination at Valorant Masters Copenhagen

The third and final game of the day was an elimination Group A game between the VCT Masters Reykjavik Finalists LOUD and Optic Gaming. The Valorant Champions Tour Masters Copenhagen is delivering everything, and all the matches have gone the distance.

Optic Gaming and LOUD were on the opposite end of an upset, with Guild beating Optic in two maps while KRU managed to edge out LOUD and forced them into an elimination matchup.

The map veto started with LOUD banning Optic gaming’s comfort pick of Haven, while Optic chose to ban Icebox, a map which hasn’t been forgiving for them.

With their map pick, LOUD chose Ascent, statistically their best map, while Optic chose to play Fracture, a strong map for them. The following bans from LOUD and Optic Gaming were Bind and Breeze, respectively, With Split remaining as the decider.

The first map ascent started well for Optic, With Crashes Aceing the first round and FNS clutching the next one to win four out of the five first rounds. LOUD though, managed to find an answer to Optics’ defence to win the next five rounds. Optic stopped the bleeding, winning the last two rounds of the half to tie the score at 6-6.

The defensive half for LOUD started well, and they put up a fortress on both sides, with Aspas’s Operator leading the charge, limiting Optic to only two rounds to win their map pick 13-8.

Optic Gaming started their map pick on defence, and defence they did, shutting down LOUD’s attack and limiting them to only four rounds and winning eight rounds on the back of solid performances from Marvel and Yay.

The second half seemed to go in Optic’s favour, with Victor spearheading the Optic attack. LOUD quickly reset themselves to string together three rounds before losing the map 8-13. With this victory, Optic Managed to force the third map. Split started with Optic Gaming on the attack, winning the first pistol round and the follow-up round.

LOUD’s confidence did not faze, and they won seven out of the next eight rounds. Optic stopped the bleeding with Yay helping them win the last two rounds to end the half 5-7.

The second half started in LOUD’s favour, winning three out of the first four rounds. Optic came back strong, winning six rounds out of the next seven to reach map and match point. But in the last round, pancada pulled off a guardian clutch to force overtime.

In overtime, Optic found a gap in the LOUD defence, winning the first OT round and completely shut down LOUD’s attack to win the map 14-12 and the series 2-1, eliminating LOUD.

Optic Gaming, with this victory, would face KRU Esports tomorrow for a chance to qualify for the VCT Masters Copenhagen Playoffs. LOUD, despite the loss, displayed fantastic games and would be prepared to win it all at Valorant Champions.

DRX defeat FPX to qualify for Valorant Masters Copenhagen Playoffs

The first match of day 3 with the Korean Giants DRX taking on the EMEA’s second seed and the winner of the FPX/XERXIA game.

DRX came from a strong statement after their first match, where they destroyed Northeption. At the same time, FPX edged out XERXIA to win the game and come to the upper bracket.

The winner of the game would book their ticket to the playoffs after Guild yesterday.

The map veto started with DRX banning Split, A map they don’t play, and FPX banning Bind, DRX’s strong map. With the first pick, DRX chose their comfort pick Haven, and FPX chose Fracture.

The teams chose to ban Ascent and Icebox, each other’s strong pick to end on Breeze.

Starting on Haven, DRX started strong, with Rb’s operator reigning supreme over FPX, But FPX stayed strong with Shao clutching to bring FPX back to win three consecutive rounds.

DRX answered back, winning three of their own, but the last round went in FPX’s favour with Shao’s clutch.

The second half started well for FPX, with them outplaying and shutting off DRX’s attack.

FPX lost only one round in half, and Shao’s heroics helped them close the game 13-9.

The second map fracture started well for FPX, where they won the first two rounds, but DRX’s pacy attacks caught them off-guard, and DRX pulled off a thrifty to win their first rounds and then the next six rounds to close the half 9-3.

The second half started well for DRX on defence, but their aggression didn’t stop, eventually closing the game 13-6 to force a third map.

Breeze started in FPX’s favour with them winning the pistol and the follow-up, but DRX came in blasting through to win five rounds in a row and, despite the resistance, managed to close out the first half 9-3.

The DRX domination continued on defence, with them only letting three more rounds slip to win the map 13-6 and the game 2-1.

DRX have now proved they are as good as any other team in the tournament and have qualified for the main event. FPX performed great and would play the winner of the XERXIA/Northeption game.
