Zellsis and Yay Joins Cloud9 Valorant

Zellsis and yay have found a new home at Cloud9 valorant after their teams were unable to make the cut for the Americas League.

North American Organization Cloud9 is gearing up its Valorant roster with two new signings for the forthcoming VCT Americas League. C9 has signed Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker and Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro for the VCT 2023 season, according to the announcement on Twitter.

According to multiple rumors, yay was linked to Cloud9 Valorant after he was let go by OpTic after the latter was unable to make the cut to the Americas League. yay revealed on September 21 that he was a restricted free agent in North America and EMEA after OpTic Gaming was cut from the sponsored league.

The former OpTic player joins Anthony ‘vanity’ Malaspina, Erick ‘Xeppaa’ Bach, and Nathan ‘leaf’ Orf in Cloud9. According to the statement, Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro, who has previously competed for the Sentinels and Version1, will round out the roster.

As a result of breaking a lot of statistical records during the course of the season, yay is widely regarded as one of the finest players in the world. At the recent Valorant Champions, yay had the highest Kill/Death ratio and kills per round ratio.

Zellsis is one of the most highly anticipated artists to emerge from North America, and he made his debut on the worldwide scene with Version1 in 2021. He played for Sentinels in the North America Last Chance Qualifier for Valorant Champions 2022.

In contrast to OpTic, which had a prosperous 2022 season and is a strong contender for the title of the greatest team of the year, Cloud9 struggled throughout the year.

The VCT 2023 has already received the preliminary rosters from the organizations that are participating in the associated leagues. The rosters of the various teams are not required to be made public just yet, and the transfer window will stay open all the way up until the deadline in February.

The VCT Kickoff competition will take place in Brazil in February 2023, giving fans the opportunity to watch yay fight with his new team. The following four North American organizations, Sentinels, Evil Geniuses, NRG, and 100 Thieves, will also compete in the VCT Americas league alongside Cloud9.

In a recent stream with 100 Thieves’ Spencer ‘Hiko’ Martin, esports consultant Rod ‘Slasher’ Breslau said Cloud9 usurped G2 Esports’ spot in the VCT Americas league.

During a stream in which both players participated in a game of Valorant together, Slasher made the claim that Cloud9 was the very last team in the Americas region to be accepted into the VCT partner league. According to him, the North American team replaced G2 Esports, who were apparently refused a berth because their CEO tweeted a video of himself partying with Andrew Tate.

In the days following the video’s release, it was rumored that G2 had lost its league spot. After that, G2 Esports placed Carlos on administrative leave without pay, and eventually, he resigned from his position there. A violation of the rule of conduct for the League of Legends European Championship led to his suspension from Riot Games as well.

Slasher further stated that he was unaware of the circumstances surrounding Cloud9’s exclusion from the VCT Americas league. The Los Angeles-based organization did round out its Valorant roster with the signings of Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro and Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker. 

Cloud9 initially didn’t make the cut for the VCT Americas League.

Riot Games and Cloud9 have a long and illustrious history together. The team joined the LCS in 2013 after purchasing the former Quantic Gaming roster.

Cloud9 was also one of the first organizations in North America to enter Valorant, and the squad has already qualified for the 2021 edition of the Valorant Champions tournament. Cloud9 White also has the most talented group of Game Changers players of any team in the region.

Cloud9 is one of the five organizations from the United States that are competing in the VCT Americas league. The other four companies are NRG, Sentinels, 100 Thieves, and Evil Geniuses. At the VCT 2023 Kickoff competition that will take place in Brazil in February, their brand new Valorant roster will make its first appearance.

Under Malix, Cerberus Esports were also the only Vietnamese team to consistently make it to the APAC VCT on four separate occasions.

Earlier this year, Revenant Esports clinched the title of The Esports Club Community Cup and they were one of the four Indian squads to participate in the recent TEC Challenger Series wherein they had a spectacular semi-finals finish, battling against top South Asian teams.

Now, Malix will look to utilise his skillset to boost Revenant Esports’ performances by educating and mentoring the players, formulating game-winning strategies and helping the athletes achieve their potential.
