Wardogs Hits 340K Peak Concurrent Players After Rocky Launch

Despite being one of the most anticipated video games of the year, the launch of Bulkhead’s mil-sim title Wardogs has been far from smooth.

Following its early access release on September 10, 2026, at 4 pm UTC, Wardogs was riddled with issues involving login queues, server outages, and falsely implemented bans.

Needless to say, the community wasn’t happy about the rocky launch of Wardogs, with many players flooding social media forums to express their dissatisfaction. Some players also went as far as to leave negative reviews for the game on Steam, triggering subsequent controversies in the gaming space.

Wardogs Hits 340K Peak Concurrent Players Despite Launch Issues

While the game’s launch didn’t go nearly as smoothly as players would have hoped for a title that went through several playtests beforehand, that didn’t stop Wardogs from hitting a peak concurrent player count of 340,000 and securing the #2 spot on the Steam charts, surpassing giants like DOTA 2 and PUBG.

Only hours after the early access patch, Bulkhead shipped out a hotfix aimed at fixing the server problems and the long queue times. Following the hotfix, players were slowly let into the game in waves to ensure server stability.

The devs later apologized for the launch issues via an X post, while also confirming that the game had already sold over 1.25 million copies.

Wardogs is currently available to play on PC via the Steam Store, with console versions scheduled to arrive at some point in 2028.
