Resident Evil Requiem Free DLC Leon Must Die Forever Out Now

Capcom dropped a free DLC minigame for Resident Evil Requiem on May 7, 2026, without any release date announcement. The mode, called “Leon Must Die Forever,” is now live on PS5 and PC as part of game update version 1.300.000.

What Is Leon Must Die Forever?

“Leon Must Die Forever” is a roguelike mode that sends Leon Kennedy through 20 levels without a single cutscene, set across areas from the main campaign. Players race against a timer and fight through increasingly tough enemies, eventually reaching a boss battle with Victor.

The mode features branching paths and randomized enhancer abilities, making it distinct from the main story experience. Enemies scale up in difficulty as players advance, and glowing doors mark the way to the next area.

Players have access to special enhancements that improve weapon firepower, hatchet durability, and more. Random weapon drops also change how each run plays out, adding replayability to the mode.

How to Unlock It

The mode does not appear until you finish the main story. Once you have, follow these steps:

  • Complete the Resident Evil Requiem main campaign.
  • Update the game to version 1.300.000.
  • Go to the Main Menu and select “Extra Games.”
  • Select “Leon Must Die Forever” to start.

The mode also includes 11 new challenges that reward players with challenge points, and players can redeem points earned in the main story to unlock items within the minigame.

The game’s director, Koshi Nakanishi, and producer, Masato Kumazawa, had urged fans before Golden Week to make sure they had completed the main story, hinting that something was coming.

Capcom’s official description for the mode reads: players must “clear numerous stages while using randomized enhancer abilities as you race against the clock.”

As fans have since pointed out, Nakanishi was wearing an “Ethan Must Die” t-shirt in the video where the DLC was first announced, which, in hindsight, was a hint about the mode’s format.

Is This the Story DLC?

No. The main Resident Evil Requiem story expansion DLC is still in development, with no confirmed release window, though it is rumored to arrive sometime in 2026.

Leaks have suggested the story DLC could feature Chris Redfield and Ada Wong, which would pave the way for the next mainline entry in the series.

For now, “Leon Must Die Forever” is the only playable character in this mode, and it is completely free for all players who own the base game.
