GodLike Esports has made a major change to its Call of Duty Mobile roster ahead of the COD Mobile World Championship 2026, dropping Viper from the lineup just months before the biggest tournament of the season.
The decision has attracted attention because Viper was part of the GodLike lineup that secured India’s second qualification spot for the World Championship. GodLike’s recent five-player setup featured Abhiz, SkullG, Prevail, Viper, and Warden, with Learn serving as coach. The same lineup was registered for the India Regional Finals earlier this month.
Following the roster change, both Viper and Learn have publicly shared their perspectives. Their statements point to differences over preparation, college commitments and the visa situation ahead of the World Championship.
GodLike Qualified for COD Mobile World Championship 2026
GodLike has already secured its place at the COD Mobile World Championship 2026.
The team had a strong season in India and finished first in the India Circuit Points standings. GodLike also won the India Points Major in July without losing a series, defeating Galorys to take the title.
At the India Regional Finals in September, however, Galorys defeated GodLike 4-0 in the Grand Final and qualified as India’s first seed. GodLike still secured the country’s second World Championship slot through the India Circuit Points qualification route.
This makes the timing of Viper’s removal particularly notable, with GodLike now having to adjust its roster before competing internationally.
What Did Viper Say After Being Dropped?
According to Viper’s public statement, his college commitments were an important part of the discussion surrounding his removal.
Viper said the team did not want him to continue managing college alongside competitive COD Mobile. However, he argued that his education would not have stopped him from prioritising the World Championship.
He stated that if his end-semester examinations had clashed with Stage 5 of the World Championship, he would have chosen to compete at Worlds. Viper also said his mid-semester examinations had already ended and that he intended to join the team’s bootcamp ahead of the international event.
His position, therefore, is that studying alongside esports should not be interpreted as a lack of commitment to GodLike or the World Championship.
Viper also indicated that he wanted to explain the situation further on stream. However, at the time of writing, we could not independently verify a subsequent stream containing that full explanation. His written public comments therefore remain the basis for his side of the story.

Learn Explains Why GodLike Made the Roster Change
GodLike coach Learn presented a different perspective on the situation.
Learn praised Viper’s talent and acknowledged his efforts to manage both education and competitive gaming. However, according to Learn, GodLike’s concern was not Viper’s ability as a player but the level of preparation required before the World Championship.
Learn said the complete team had spent limited time together at bootcamp and argued that everyone needed to make similar commitments when preparing for an event of this level.
He also pointed towards GodLike’s Stage 4 preparation. According to Learn, Viper’s schedule meant team practice sometimes started later in the evening, reducing the time available for scrims and VOD reviews.
The coach’s argument was that with World Championship qualification and seeding at stake, GodLike wanted the complete roster to follow the same preparation structure.
These points represent Learn’s account of the internal situation and should not be treated as independently established facts about Viper’s commitment.
Visa Situation Also Played a Role, According to Learn
Learn also cited the visa situation as an important factor behind the decision.
According to his statement, the team faced uncertainty surrounding the visa process for the World Championship in Mexico. Learn said that without the visa situation, he would not have made the change involving Viper.
The COD Mobile World Championship 2026 is currently scheduled to take place in Mexico from December 3 to 6.
Learn’s comments suggest GodLike was considering not only practice and bootcamp availability but also whether its final roster could complete the required travel process in time.
Viper and Learn Present Different Sides of the Situation
The statements from Viper and Learn provide two different perspectives rather than establishing a simple explanation for the roster change.
Viper maintains that he was capable of managing college and competitive gaming together and would have prioritised the World Championship if an important academic commitment clashed with the event.
Learn, meanwhile, has said GodLike needed equal preparation and availability across the roster heading into Worlds, while also pointing to travel and visa uncertainty as a major consideration.
Notably, Learn has not presented the change as being caused by Viper’s lack of skill. He has continued to describe Viper as a talented player.
For that reason, describing the situation simply as GodLike dropping Viper because he was “not committed” would go beyond what the publicly presented accounts establish. The disagreement appears to centre on how GodLike wanted to approach preparation for Worlds and whether Viper’s college schedule could fit those requirements.

GodLike will now prepare for the World Championship with a changed roster after earning India’s second seed. The organization has yet to show how the new setup will perform against the international competition.
