While Valve is pretty lenient when it comes to trash talk in Counter-Strike 2, the rest of the internet is not. That’s why you might want to be careful about what you type in your next ranked game, because those messages can now be viewed publicly.
In fact, every message you’ve typed in chat during CS2 matchmaking games over the past few months is now publicly viewable, as long as someone has your Steam profile URL. A third-party site has just exposed CS2 players’ in-game chat logs, and certain members of the community have started panicking.
It didn’t take long for viral clips to surface on social media, showing popular streamers and content creators taking in-game trash talk a little too far, completely unaware that their messages would one day face public scrutiny.
Your CS2 Matchmaking Chat Logs are Now Public
A third-party website is enabling CS2 players to check anyone’s chat history in the game through their Steam profile URL.
Upon visiting the website, you’ll be able to enter your friends’ Steam ID, URL, or even Steam name to check a list of their in-game stats, including recent matches, per-map breakdown, and, not to mention, complete chat logs from the past few months.
Keep in mind that the website requires you to log in with your Steam account to access other players’ chat logs and stats. Players are advised to avoid signing in with your Steam account unless you’re certain the site is trustworthy.
Needless to say, this website has wreaked havoc on X and other social media platforms, as more and more instances of streamers and pros getting exposed for their in-game trash talk continue to surface.
Note that only messages typed in “ALL” chat in-game are getting exposed through this website, so if you’ve been clowning teammates in team chat this whole time, you’re probably safe.
