Fortnite Power Rankings Explained: How PR Is Calculated in 2026

Fortnite Power Rankings use your best 20 tournament results, weighted by event and decayed over time, plus a Ranked bonus. Here is how every step works, with tables.

Fortnite Power Rankings (PR) is Epic Games’ official skill rating for competitive Fortnite. It looks at your 20 best Battle Royale and Reload tournament results. Each result gets a weight based on how important the event was, and older results lose value over time. A small bonus for your Ranked tier goes on top. The leaderboard updates once a week.

Epic launched the system on June 5, 2026, during Chapter 7 Season 3. Before that, most players checked third-party PR sites, and each one used its own formula. Now one number decides tournament eligibility in every region, including the Middle East, Europe and both North American servers.

What Are Fortnite Power Rankings?

Fortnite Power Rankings are an Elo-style rating. Your number rises when you beat strong players and falls slowly as old results expire. Epic describes PR as the “universal skill rating for Competitive Fortnite.”

It works differently from older points systems. Epic doesn’t hand out a fixed number of points for a placement. Your score depends on who you beat. Tenth place in a stacked EU final is worth more than tenth place in a smaller lobby, because the opponents in the EU lobby are rated higher.

You also can’t lose PR by entering a tournament. A bad result just won’t make your top 20.

How Fortnite PR Is Calculated: The 6 Steps

Epic’s official Power Rankings breakdown splits the formula into six steps. Here they are in order.

StepWhat happensWhat it means for you
1. Raw performance ratingYour placement is compared against every opponent’s ratingBeating higher-rated players scores more
2. Event weightingThe raw rating is multiplied by the event’s importanceBig events count more
3. Time decayResults start losing value after 180 daysOld wins fade
4. Best 20Only your top 20 weighted results countBad games are ignored
5. Elo-style ratingNew results push you up, decay pulls you downYour PR tracks current form
6. Ranked bonusPoints added for your BR or Reload Ranked tierRanked matters a little

Step 1: Raw Performance Rating

Epic gives an example. Take a Division 3 cup with 1,000 duos where most players sit near 20,000 PR. In that event:

PlacementApproximate raw rating
100th~23,000
500th~20,000
900th~17,000

So finishing in the middle of a lobby gives you roughly the lobby’s average rating. Placing above it raises your number. The system uses “multiplayer Elo,” which means you are rated against each opponent separately.

Fortnite Power Rankings Event Multipliers

Step 2 is where event choice matters. Each tournament type has a multiplier, and it is applied to your raw rating.

MultiplierEvents
×0.8Shop Cups, Ranked Cups, OG Cups
×1.0Cash Cups, Victory Cups, Division Cups, Solo Series Qualifiers, PS Cup, RES Opens, PI and Heats
×1.2Division Cup Finals, RES Qualifier Finals, FNCS Heats, Solo Series Final
×1.4FNCS Major Finals, RES Championships, Summit Upper and Lower Bracket
×1.6Summit Final, Global Championships

Here’s a quick illustration based on Epic’s description. A raw rating of 23,000 in a Cash Cup stays at 23,000. The same raw rating in an FNCS Heat becomes about 27,600. In a Shop Cup it drops to about 18,400. That’s why a decent FNCS run usually moves your PR more than a great Shop Cup, and why results from the FNCS Major 2 play-ins carried real weight for the players involved.

How PR Decay Works

Each result keeps 100% of its value for 180 days. After that it loses value steadily until day 720, when it reaches zero.

Age of resultValue kept
0 to 180 days100%
180 to 720 daysDrops steadily
720 days and older0%

In plain terms, a tournament win stays at full value for about six months and is fully gone after two years. Players who stop competing will see their PR slide slowly. Epic designed it that way so the number reflects your current skill.

Why Only Your Best 20 Results Count

Your PR uses your top 20 weighted, decayed results. Everything below that is ignored. When you get a new result that beats your 20th-best, it takes that slot.

This is the part most players miss. Entering more tournaments can’t hurt you. A rough night in a Victory Cup changes nothing if it doesn’t crack your top 20. The smart play is to enter the higher-multiplier events you can realistically place well in.

Fortnite Ranked Bonus Points Table

Step 6 adds a bonus based on your rank in BR Ranked and Reload Ranked. Epic lists the same table for both modes.

RankBonus PR
Bronze 1 / 2 / 30 / 25 / 50
Silver 1 / 2 / 375 / 100 / 125
Gold 1 / 2 / 3150 / 175 / 200
Platinum 1 / 2 / 3225 / 250 / 275
Diamond 1 / 2 / 3300 / 325 / 350
Elite 1 / 2 / 3400 / 450 / 500
Champion 1 / 2 / 3600 / 700 / 800
Unreal1,000

Compare that to the tournament numbers. Tournament ratings run into the tens of thousands, so 1,000 bonus points for Unreal is a nudge. Tournaments still decide most of your score.

A separate tier called Unreal Legend sits above Unreal. According to Fortnite Tracker’s launch report, you need Unreal rank, at least 2,500 Skill Rating, and a top 500 spot on the Unreal leaderboard. Drop below any of those and you lose the status.

Why Your PR Decides Tournament Entry

PR now controls who gets into some events. For the 2026 FNCS Global Championship Last Chance, Epic let the top 200,000 players by PR enter. The top 2,000 skipped Round 1 and started in Round 2.

Expect more events to use PR thresholds like this. If you plan to play FNCS after Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 or later, your PR is the number to protect. Epic also takes cheating in competitive play seriously, which you can see in its recent legal action against a DMA cheat seller. That matters here too, because inflated results distort everyone else’s rating.

How to Check Your Fortnite Power Ranking

  1. Open the Power Rankings page in the Competitive section of fortnite.com.
  2. Pick your region from the dropdown: Middle East, Europe, NA Central, NA West, Brazil, Asia or Oceania.
  3. Search your Epic display name, or scroll the leaderboard.
  4. Pin up to 8 players to compare ratings side by side.

The page shows PR position, player name with country flag, and PR rating. Epic’s support page confirms the rankings refresh weekly, so a cup you play on Saturday may take a few days to appear.

Tips to Raise Your Fortnite PR

  • Play higher-multiplier events. FNCS Heats at ×1.2 beat Cash Cups at ×1.0 if you can place similarly.
  • Play strong lobbies. Beating high-rated players is how Elo rewards you.
  • Keep your results fresh. Anything past 180 days starts losing value, so stay active.
  • Push Ranked late in the season. Champion or Unreal adds 600 to 1,000 PR, which can be the gap around a cutoff.
  • Don’t fear bad games. Only your top 20 count.
