Grand Theft Auto 6 has earned its place as the most anticipated video game of all time, and for good reason. After a decade in development, its release was mired in delays, leaks, and controversy, but we finally have a date.
In this article, we will discuss when Rockstar plans to release the game.
When is GTA 6 coming out?
Grand Theft Auto 6 is officially set to release on November 19, 2026, as Rockstar confirmed. With delays hitting the release date time and time again, the developers have finally locked it down for release before the end of the year.
While the release is set for November 19, 2026, Rockstar will allow players to keep the game downloaded, or in other words, pre-load Grand Theft Auto 6 from as early as November 12, 2026, so that when the curtains are pulled on release day, fans do not need to invest additional time into downloading the game and can get straight to enjoying the spectacle.
What is GTA 6 about?
Unless you are new to Grand Theft Auto, you know the franchise features open-world games that allow players to explore the lives of the characters through a storyline. As the name suggests, GTA 6 follows a long line of GTA games where each and every one of the iterations has given us iconic characters, unforgettable missions, and everything packed in a level of realism that improves with time.
Grand Theft Auto 6 takes us to the fictional city of Leonida, which is loosely based on Florida, where we get to explore the city but mostly its underworld from the perspective of protagonists Jason Duval and Lucia, whose story stems from a heist gone wrong.
Where can you play GTA 6?
Unfortunately, the November 2026 release is limited to console platforms like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. While Rockstar is said to be working on a PC version of the game, it is unlikely to come out in the next one or two years.
With the final release date being revealed by the developers, fans have already started to block their calendars well ahead. If you are one of those who are unable to hold your horses, Rockstar will be releasing bits and pieces of the game as we come closer to the release date, and with two months to go, we are finally closer to the finish line than ever.
