Rockstar posted an official statement on social media, apologizing to fans and confirming that its long-awaited extended look will still arrive on Netflix as planned.

Rockstar Games shared its statement on X early Wednesday morning. The studio said having Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay leak this way had been heartbreaking for the team, and called it not how they intended fans to see the game after all this time.
The developer also apologized for how long GTA 6 has taken to reach players. Rockstar said it was very sorry that everything had taken as long as it has, from finishing the game to sharing more details, official gameplay, and answers the community has been waiting for.
Rockstar acknowledged that the intended game experience may now be affected by spoilers from the leaks, and asked fans to wait a little longer to experience GTA 6 for themselves. The studio also thanked the community for messages of support during the past week.
GTA 6 Extended Look: Netflix and YouTube Release Time
The GTA 6 extended look will premiere on Netflix on August 27 at 3 PM ET (8 PM UK time). It will then be uploaded to the Rockstar Games website and YouTube channel 6 hours later.
This extended look was already scheduled before the leaks began. Rockstar’s statement did not detail what the presentation will cover, but it is expected to include gameplay and further looks at the open-world title.
GTA 6 Release Date Stays the Same
Rockstar Games confirmed the GTA 6 release date remains unchanged despite the leaks. Grand Theft Auto VI is still set to launch on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Take-Two’s Legal Response to the Leaks
Before Rockstar’s public statement, its parent company Take-Two Interactive had already taken action. Take-Two quietly issued subpoenas to Discord and Microsoft, seeking chat logs and account information to identify the source behind the leaks. Rockstar’s own statement did not name the leaker or explain how the footage was obtained.
With the extended look landing on August 27, Rockstar has a chance to reclaim the narrative around GTA 6 after a difficult week of leaks. Fans will get their first fully official look at the game, even as some surprises may already be spoiled. The wait for the full release continues until November 19.
