Why NiKo Smashed His Table During Blast Premier Fall Semi-Final?

From Frustration to Fierce Determination: How NiKo Ignited G2 Esports' Comeback

NiKo had been showing increasing frustration throughout the intense match between G2 and Vitality at the CS2 BLAST Premier Fall Finals. At one point of pure rage, he went over and slammed his fist into the desk, this time going far enough to make the broadcast desk unusable due to the blood dripping from his hand.

Ironically, that anger was the fire that needed to be lit to propel this team through this comeback into the grand final. Let’s take a look at what actually happened during the match.

Why NiKo Smashed His Table During the Match?

Vitality had been dominant over the group stage, so a thriller semifinal certainly seemed to be in the cards against G2. After the teams traded map picks, it all came down to Mirage. The game was very back-and-forth, but one moment really stood out, after Vitality took an 8-7 lead.

Vitality was already ending the round in an almost impossible 1v5 against NiKo on the T side, not even having planted the bomb yet. Cornered at Bench by Spinx, ZywOo, and flameZ, NiKo somehow cleared all three with a flurry of AK shots.

The Bosnian superstar basically created a winnable 1v2 situation out of thin air, leaving mezzii and apEX for his final opponents. NiKo picked off mezzii after slipping past their post and ended up in a good 1v1 post-plant against apEX on B. Although the positions were in his favor, NiKo missed a massive clutch opportunity that would go down in the books as one of the best CS2 clutches ever. It was time for Vitality IGL to bail his team out of this situation, and as much as NiKo hated it.

Punching a hole in his desk and hurting his hand a little, NiKo’s tantrum somehow was channeled into a stronger resolute determination. Although the hand bled, he kept playing and provided a kill that set G2 back in the game. Eventually, the BLAST staff called a technical timeout to attend to his injury.

It seemed like NiKo’s heroics wouldn’t be enough for the team, and the win was going to fall their way with three rounds to go. But G2 had no interest in letting the star rifler’s efforts yield without a war. They rallied to take the next three consecutive rounds to send the match into overtime.

Yet another game-eventful came and went, and it was again the fifth round of trades. NiKo really proved himself during this round, taking out three opponents single-handedly in a clutch that made his team’s comeback into the grand finals possible.
