Overwatch 2 Is Erasing Rank History, and Players Are Not Happy

0

Overwatch 1 players who have recently tuned into Overwatch 2 since its release on October 4th are growing concerned as the devs seem to be gradually erasing the rank history of all the players.

The news was first brought to light by Twitch streamer ‘EeveeA’, who claimed in a Tweet that only the competitive data for the past six ranked seasons would be kept moving forward.

“From Season S1 of OW1 to Season 30 of OW1, all of that data is gone,” the Mercy main said. “Come S7 of OW2, your OW2 S1 data will be gone.”

She further mentioned that while she knew this information for a week, she was unable to say anything as she would be breaking an NDA.

“They refused to let me warn people to record their OW1 data before OW2 launch,” EeveeA said. “And before I started expressing the issues with it, they said no problems with this data being gone.

Needless to say, the Overwatch 2 community isn’t very happy about this decision by Blizzard Entertainment. Fans throughout the world have expressed their disappointment at their ranked accomplishments being slowly removed from the game as time progresses.

At the time of writing, Blizzard hasn’t made a statement regarding this issue.

Ghatak says BGMI return “will take time”

BGMI ban has been discussed passively in the community for the past few days as no new official updates were given by Krafton or Indian government sources. Ghatak, one of the most influential personalities from the community, recently addressed the topic on his livestream and mentioned that unban will take time.

BGMI was banned by the Indian government over its privacy and user data concerns. There was also an issue where BGMI was said to be linked with China, making it eligible for a ban order that was similar to what was seen with PUBG Mobile.

The game is not officially stated as being banned but the developers are barred from openly distributing the game, basically making it impossible for Krafton to provide the game to new users or give any update to existing users.

Ghatak is known to be vocal about BGMI and its several other aspects and ban is currently the major aspect out of it. He did not mention about any unban date on his Livestream or any other platforms but has said that BGMI will return for sure.

https://youtu.be/sMmNrFgzgLA

BGMI audience is eager to know about the status of BGMI ban in India as it has been a couple of months since the ban order has been placed and no development has taken place since then. Apart from minor changes, fans have taken it to their favourite creators to find the answers to such questions.

The creators are sensibly answering this and Ghatak being one of the oldest from the community has stated that BGMI ban will be lifted but the time duration is not available yet. It will be taking some time till the officials sort the matter out and release the game back in India.

Here Are Ceb’s Predictions for TI11 Last Chance Qualifiers

The Last Chance Qualifiers (LCQ) for Dota 2 are just around the corner, and it will provide fans with a final opportunity to catch their favourite Dota 2 teams in action before The International 2022.

The Dota 2 Last Chance Qualifiers kick off on October 8th and will continue till October 12th. The event will see twelve Dota 2 teams across six regions competing for one of the final two spots in TI11.

During the latest episode of OG’s Monkey Business podcast, Sébastien “Ceb” Debs has put forward his predictions for the Last Chance Qualifiers.

Ceb’s Predictions for Dota 2 LCQ

When asked about his two favorite teams to advance from the LCQ by co-host OG CEO JMR Luna, Ceb chose Xtreme Gaming and T1 as the two teams to advance to the group stages of TI11.

“My two favorites? I would go for Xtreme Gaming and I gotta pick T1,” Ceb said. “I refused to pick anybody else other than T1.”

Ceb also proceeded to talk about some other teams that can put up a good fight and can potentially qualify for TI11 from the LCQ.

“If you’re talking about teams that are maybe a little more favored, I would say VP and Liquid but in Liquid’s case, they have been disappointing so many times during the season now I don’t think they’re favorites at this point. In Virtus.pro’s case, they looked really good at some points during the qualifiers until they met Daxak, and then he reminded them who’s the boss in the region.”

Dota 2 TI11 Prize Pool Is Currently the Third Lowest in TI History

The International is perhaps the biggest annual esports event in the entire world, and a big reason behind it is the humongous prize pool that TI events boast. For instance, with over a whopping $40,000,000 prize pool, TI10 still holds the title for the esports tournament with the largest prize pool in history.

However, from the current looks of it, it seems that the TI11 prize pool might be taking a big hit when compared to the previous years due to a number of reasons.

At the time of writing, the TI11 prize pool is the third-lowest in the history of all TIs. Taking a glance at the Dota 2 prize pool tracker, we can see that the TI 2022 prize pool is currently just over $13,000,000, which is lower than that of all TIs from TI7 to TI10, and alarmingly close to that of TI6.

Why Does TI11 Have a Lower Prize Pool?

There are a number of reasons contributing to the significantly lower prize pool of TI11 when compared to those of the previous years. The most obvious reason is that this year’s Battle Pass seems to be rather underwhelming, which a good portion of the fans of the title agree with.

The second reason is that a good chunk of the content included in this year’s Dota 2 Battle Pass is locked behind Part 2, which will release around November 3, 2022. However, none of the proceeds made from the Battle Pass sales during Part 2 will go toward funding TI11.

The third reason could be a result of the public resentment of Valve for a combination of the first two reasons mentioned above. Many Dota 2 players have voiced their opinions on social media forums and have chosen to not buy this year’s BP due to it being of worse quality than previous years or in protest against Valve locking a portion of the content behind Part 2.

The fourth reason that may heavily impact the prize pool is the fact that this year’s Battle Pass will have much less time to crowdfund the prize pool for TI11. The TI10 Battle Pass had 139 days to crowdfund The International 2021 while the TI8 and TI9 Passes had 110 days each to fund their respective tournaments. However, the TI11 Battle Pass will effectively have only about 59 days to fund the prize pool for The International 2022.

In conclusion, it’s safe to say that the vast majority of Battle Pass-related purchases will be made during Part 1 of the Pass, and a quarter of it will still be funding the prize pool of TI11. However, from the initial looks, it doesn’t seem that this year’s TI will be able to reach anywhere close to the world record-setting prize pool of $40,018,195 by TI10.
