NerdMeet 1.5 undertaking; Educate yourself with gaming

Kolkata, 12th January –  ASidCast in collaboration with Techarx are announcing a follow up to their first community gaming event, NerdMeet. NerdMeet 1.5, as it’s being titled this time around, will be taking place on the 26th of January in Kolkata at Bika Banquet, Kolkata. Gates will open 10 AM and the event will run till 3 PM.

The event is being Powered by Nvidia and Sponsored by MD Computers, CoolerMaster and Zotac.

The gates of the event will open at 10 AM in the morning, and guests/gamers are free to enter the arena at any time. The event will start with an opening address from Aman Biswas, the creator and the mind behind ASidCast and NerdMeet. This will be followed by a short talk about the NerdMeet initiative from the brand representative from Nvidia.

The event will consist of activities such as an Over Clocking demo, an Oculus rift demo, a Gaming Panel consisting of Indian gaming industry specialist such as Rajaram Chitrigemath from Nvidia, Sanket Naik from CoolerMaster, Deepak Gupta from Zotac, Deepak Ojha from TalkEsport, Aman Biswas from ASidCast; an Anime panel by Kolkata Anime Club (KAC), and tournaments organized.

The rest of the day will be dedicated to Kolkata gamers enjoying and experiencing the best in gaming. Attendees of NerdMeet will get a chance to experience the latest and top trending hardware currently available in the gaming industry such as the PlayStation 4, high end PCs powered by Nvidia graphic cards and the Oculus Rift.

Gamers will also get a chance to get their hands on the latest games on PC. Console exclusive games such as Infamous Second Son, Driveclub and others will also be present.

CSGO.one loses team after alleged match-fix request

As the team players told their disagreement and disappointment to HLTV.org directly, which CSGO.one ventured into competitive Counter-Strike in November by taking the team known as Orgless, a mixture of Hungarian and Danish players.

Although the team players are rigid onto the the accusation and are demanding a probe investigation, on the other hand the Team Manager KoltVP has denied any such request or his involvement in convincing the team-players to lose the matches at Operation Kinguin for skins on demand.

In an interview to TopFrag, KoltVP trashed the claims and confirmed that he was only seeking a dignified response on the recent ex-IBP banned players and wanted to know more about the decision from the players’ perspective.

G2 releases team to FaZe

One of Europe’s top Counter-Strike: Global Offensive groups, G2 Esports, has been purchased out by North American association FaZe Clan, the associations declared Wednesday.

The team was purchased for an undisclosed fee and the transfer is effective immediately. G2 Esports’ CS:GO division initially came together under Team Kinguin, and during their time with G2 have risen to become a top contender Europe despite multiple roster changes.

The Counter-Strike ESL Pro League, formerly known as the ESL ESEA Pro League, will increase its available prize money from $1 million in 2015 to $1.5 million, spread across two seasons, in 2016. ESL has confirmed that 24 teams, representing every major organization across Europe and North America, will participate, including Fnatic, EnVyUs, Question Mark, Natus Vincere, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Cloud 9, Team Liquid, Counter Logic Gaming and OpTic Gaming.

“The ESL Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Pro League is leveling up this year. We’ll be working on enabling larger offline crowds to follow the action as players battle in matches that could define the rest of their lives,” said Ulrich Schulze, vice president of pro gaming at ESL. “But it’s not just offline audiences we’re aiming for. Television broadcasts, a higher standard of online production, a continued emphasis on competitive integrity — these are just some of the things you will see this year.”

“The increase in prize money is a testament to Counter-Strike and its explosive growth over the past few years. Seeing the teams’ achievements not only in the ESL Pro League but also in major competition such as ESL One Cologne and IEM San Jose, I think the prize money increase is nothing short of well deserved,” Schulze said. “Alongside that, with two seasons this year, scaling up the prize money per season for a league of this standard, thereby enabling players to make a living with less travel requirements and event attendance — that was what was best for not just the players but the league as a whole.”

The increase in prize money for ESL’s premier Counter-Strike league comes after Turner’s ELeague announced it was offering a total of $2.4 million in prize money split across two seasons of its own. When asked whether the boost in prize money was a response to Turner’s purse, Schulze told ESPN that it was due to market factors.

Rumblings among team owners suggest that many European organizations, which represent the majority of the top 10 CS:GO teams in the world, have not yet committed to competing in Turner’s ELeague, which will debut on TBS this summer. Turner has attempted to be as accommodating as possible to the current CS:GO ecosystem, featuring shorter seasons that allow teams to play in other events. Schulze says teams won’t be locked into one league or the other.

“The schedules for both leagues are fairly similar, and as they will not be taking place at the same time, there is no need for organizations or players to choose,” said Schulze. “In fact, Turner’s new schedule fits very well with our first Pro League season in 2016. We’re happy that teams will have the opportunity to play in both, should they wish to.”

The fact that Turner’s ELeague competition will be airing on TBS will be a milestone for broadcasting esports in North America, but ESL also hinted in its press release that it will launch some television broadcasts of its own this year.

“We’ve had TV broadcasts for our CS:GO events in the past, and have had various offers coming into the new year in regards to how we could expand this in the future, specifically with the Pro League in mind,” Schulze said. “Broadcast deals we’re currently considering would plan to feature summaries of the Pro League’s weekly activities alongside selected live coverage of the matches — all to be broadcast in multiple countries. We’ll have more details as the year progresses.”

In the team’s press release, they stressed a desire to create an organization that provides a “stable environment,” as well as one that emphasizes transparency. Regarding the latter, they made two things clear:

  • The players are co-owners of the company behind Astralis. We believe that the players are an integral part of the growth and without them there would be no us. As a consequence all of the players are shareholders in the company.

In an interview conducted with Astralis, Xyp9x openly revealed their salaries being $9,000 a month, though they received offers as high as $10,000 a month, excluding bonuses. According to devve, the player’s motivations for forming Astralis were beyond just the money.

“Internally in the team we agreed, when parting ways with Team SoloMid, that we wanted something new,” devve said. “Owning a part of the brand makes us motivated to do better as players, since that directly affects the value of our new company.”

 

Astralis is partnered with Sunstone Capital, a life science and technology venture capital, and is angel invested by Tommy Ahlers, a Danish entrepreneur.

Titan shuts down as an organization

The Singapore based e-Sports organization, Titan, will cease all operations as enclosed by Damien Grust, CEO and founder, on their website.

Titan had put up star players and teams to rise in mostly all of the games they put their hands on, including Quake, Dota 2, SMITE and, CS:GO, among others. KennyS and ScreaM in CS:GO, for example, showed their peak performances when they were in Titan.

Their French/Belgian CS:GO roster is now without professional backing as Titan decides to pack up and pull out as they are now facing financial issues. As stated in the announcement, after Titan’s CS:GO player Hovik “KQLY” Tovmassian got a VAC ban and was hence barred from all professional competitions, sponsors and partners backed out of deals for 2015. Titan still however, managed to keep their performance up and saw top three finishes including silver medals at ASUS ROG Winter, Inferno Online Challenge Pantamera, and ESL Pro League Winter 2014/2015 finals in 2015.

Our CS:GO team will move on and hopefully find a new home worthy of their loyalty and determination.”, he added.
