ESPL 2021 Level 3 Day 3, Rajasthan Reapers climbs to number 3 spot

Esports Premier League 2021 saw the completion of its third day of the Level 3 stage. Rajasthan Reapers completely dominated the day by winning each game and managed to climb at the number 3 spot. A total of 20 matches were played in clash squad mode. ESPL 2021 is a franchise-based league announced by India Today Gaming, the gaming and esports division of India Today Group. The tournament features a whopping prize pool of Rs 25,00,000 distributed among the top 8 teams in the grand finals scheduled to be held on 29th August 2021.

The ESPL 2021 Level 1 featured amateur and semi-professional teams across the country which competed against each other to finish in the top 22 teams from each group. All the 88 qualified teams along with the 8 top teams were invited to the mainstage event. These teams competed in the level 2 phase out of which the top 8 teams made it through the Level 3 stage. 

With all the matches completed, here are the standings on the leaderboard :

The first game of the series was played between Hyderabad Hydras and Punjab Paladins. Team Hyderabad won the first best of 5 classic modes matches with a 3-2 score. L3M10 was won by Bangalore Ballistics 3-2 against Delhi Dukes.

The third game of the ESPL 2021 Level 3 day 1 was won by Rajasthan Reapers with complete domination. They won by a 5-0 score against Chennai Celestials. L3M12 was won by Mumbai Marshals with a 3-2 score against Kolkata Kaijus.

After the completion of the complete day, the overall standings are as follows:

  1. Bangalore Ballistics – 36 points
  2. Mumbai Marshals – 27 points
  3. Rajasthan Reapers – 27 points
  4. Hyderabad Hydras – 24 points
  5. Delhi Dukes – 24 points
  6. Punjab Paladins – 21 points
  7. Kolkata Kaijus – 15 points
  8. Chennai Celestials – 6 points

Team Exploit beat Velocity Gaming to qualify from Group A | VCC South Asia Main Event

Team Exploit have officially become the first team to grab themselves a spot in the knockout phase of the Valorant Conquerors Championship Main Event. The Pakistani powerhouse beat Velocity Gaming in the Group A Winners’ Bracket match over three maps in the best-of-three series (13-10 Icebox, 1-13 Ascent, 13-9 Breeze).

The win could be chalked down as somewhat of an upset, with Community predictions on The Spike favouring Velocity Gaming over Team Exploit in a 2-to-1 ratio. The game started on VLT’s map pick Icebox, with the Indian organization racing to a 6-0 lead on the Attack.

However, Usmain ‘soulM8’ Arain stepped up with the Viper on Exploit’s attack as they nabbed VLT’s pick 13-10. With their backs against the walls, VLT went with the Sova-Skye combination, with Anuj ‘Amaterasu’ Sharma donning the Australian agent.

VLT proceeded to shut Exploit down completely, with the latter finding just one round on their Attack side. VLT secured a 13-1 win on Ascent, pushing the series on to the decider, Breeze. VLT and Exploit were neck-and-neck to begin with, with the former managing to lap up a narrow 8-7 lead. However, Exploit started taking control of the proceedings and found themselves 12-9 up.

Mustafa ‘shooterR’ Kamal punished Mohit ‘mw1’ Wakle’s push from A as Exploit pushed into the B site. shooterR finished things off in style, with three more kills added to his tally for the round, quad-kill in total, as Exploit wrapped up Breeze with a 13-9 scoreline.

The defeat sends Velocity to the decider match against Exceeli Esports, with the winner set to become the second team to qualify from Group A for the knockout phase of the VCC Main Event.

Destiny 2 gets BattlEye anti-cheat

Destiny 2 has been plagued with cheaters in the game’s PvP modes and according to Bungie’s blog post last year, cheating had increased by 50 percent. And the inclusion of Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris, two of the game’s most competitive multiplayer modes, has certainly encouraged people to take the ‘easy way’.

Furthermore, the developers stated that “[their] overall goal with Destiny security is to provide a competitive, fair ecosystem where cheaters are rarely seen and are rapidly ejected from the game. We’re not there right now, and we’re increasing the priority. We’ll keep you posted.” 

Since then, in an effort to curb down hacking, the studio has filed multiple lawsuits against cheat sellers and distributors alike. While various other developers such as Ubisoft and Riot have taken a similar stance and filed complaints against the distribution of hacks and cheats causing disruptive behavior.

But it seems that players won’t have to stay frustrated for long as Bungie has partnered with BattlEye to bring the anti-cheat system starting next season in update 3.2.0.

This anti-cheat system is present in various multiplayer titles such as Rainbow Six: Siege, Fortnite, PUBG and Escape from Tarkov. While it certainly isn’t perfect, as one can encounter cheaters and hackers once in a while, it’ll possibly slow down the influx of hackers and hopefully provide a much better PvP experience.

Free Fire makers Garena and DJ Alok allocate ₹6Cr for Youth Development in India

Garena, developers of popular mobile game Free Fire and Alok Institute, an organization set up Brazilian superstar and Free Fire enthusiast DJ Alok, have pledged to allocate a large sum of ₹6 Crore for various youth development programs in India. This large donation will be made and implemented via several local channels.

The donation is being made for the betterment of Indian youth and is a result of long standing content partnership between DJ Alok and Garena. They are collaborating with three charitable organizations in India to pipeline these resources to the needy. Following work will be implemented by various organizations in India by the donated funds:

  • Together with Kailash Satyarthi Children Foundation, Alok Institute and Garena will help develop villages in Madhya Pradesh and promote educational opportunities for 4,000 children.
  • With Ashoka International, Alok Institute and Garena will support the work of the organisation in India and fund projects to be developed by five innovative, young Ashoka Fellows.
  • With Lokaa Foundation, the two parties will support the development of the village of Mokkalachenu, home to 68 families, into a sustainable village by improving local infrastructure, education, and environmental protection.

Talking about their efforts for the betterment of youth in India, DJ Alok said, “India has a special place in my heart and in my career, and I want to express my
gratitude by giving back to the community.”

DJ Alok explained the aim of his organization and added, “The mission of the Alok Institute mission is to promote transformational changes, and improve the lives of thousands of people, and each of the organizations we are working with embody that ethos by focusing on programs that deliver tangible outcomes. My life, my work, and the Institute’s presence are global, but my focus as a philanthropist is very local and based on delivering concrete outcomes.”

Harold Teo, Free Fire Producer at Garena stated the following: “At Garena, our mission is to better lives through technology, and we are passionate about making a positive contribution to our communities. Everyone involved in this initiative is focused on creating a meaningful and long-lasting impact for young people in India, particularly those in underserved communities. Esports Premier League 2021 Level 3 Day 3 matches will be held today. Bangalore Ballistics are on the top of the table with their strong standing. The ESPL 2021 Level 3 stage features the top 8 teams that qualified through the Level 2 stage. To let you know, ESPL 2021 is a franchise-based league announced by India Today Gaming. It is a multi-city tournament that will run over a period of two months. It will comprise more than 700 online matches with more than 300 hours of gaming content.

ESPL 2021 Format

Esports Premier League 2021 is divided into 4 phases. Phase 1 featured amateur and semi-professional teams across the country which competed against each other to finish in the top 22 teams from each group. A total of 88 teams qualified for phase 2 who were joined with the 8 invited teams. These teams competed in the level 2 phase out of which the top 8 teams made it through the Level 3 stage. 

The ESPL 2021 level 3 stage will be played in Clash Squad mode where each team will compete with its rivals in a best of 5 series. The end of each day will end with teams and their standings revealing their positions on the scoreboard.

The Level 3 matches will be played in a best of 5 series on Bermuda, Kalahari, Bermuda, Kalahari and Bermuda maps. Let’s take a look at the ESPL 2021 Day 3 schedule:

The Hyderabad Hydras: The fifth City Based Franchise Team in ESPL 2021.

The ESPL 2021 tournament by India Today Gaming has entered its final phase where the top 8 teams from the second level stage each represent their own city to compete against each other to claim the title of India’s best Free Fire Team and the GRAND Rs.12,00,000 prize money.

This article is to introduce the fifth Franchise Team- Hyderabad Hydras. This team is represented by Team “Total Gaming Esports” with the following players in its roster:

Team Exploit qualify for knockouts | VCC Main Event Day 2 Summary

The three games on Day 2 of Valorant Conquerors Championship Group Stage was eventful, to say the least. We saw Crash Landing on You and Damaru Gaming get eliminated from the event while Team Exploit became the first ones to qualify for the knockouts.

The action started with Exceeli Esports and Crash Landing on You battling each other in the Elimination match of Group A. Exceeli absolutely blanked CLOY on Haven, with a 12-0 half as the Attackers. CLOY mounted a mini-comeback but Exceeli finished the map in style, winning a thrifty to close Haven out 13-5. CLOY went for a Sova-less composition on Bind, favouring the Breach pick. The proceedings were much better for the Srilankan hope, with CLOY tying things up at 7-7. However, two opening kills from Shihab Ahmed ‘Kyojin’ Saikat on the Raze saw Exceeli seal Bind with a 13-10 win to take the series 2-0

The second eliminator featured Salt Esports and Damaru Gaming, with the former running into technical and network difficulties at the beginning on Split, causing them to play almost the entire first half a man down. However, Salt Esports recovered and took advantage of Damaru’s inexperience and errors to mount a comeback and take the map 15-13. Bind was a much more convincing affair. While Damaru took an early 4-0 lead, Salt Esports came back into the game with conviction, ending the map 13-5 and the series 2-0 to knock Damaru out of the VCC Main Event in the Group Stages.

On to the most anticipated match of the day, Velocity Gaming took on Team Exploit to find out who will book their slot in the Semi-Finals as the top seed from Group A. VLT exerted early dominance on their map pick, Icebox, racing to a 6-0 lead. It could be chalked down to a game of two halves, with Mohit ‘mw1’ Wakle asserting dominance on VLT’s attack while Usman ‘soulM8’ Arain reigned supreme in the second half as Team Exploit earned a 13-10 win on Icebox to take VLT’s map pick. VLT responded in style, nullifying Exploit’s Attacking threat on Ascent to respond with a 13-1 win on the latter’s map pick. Breeze was evenly poised at one point of time, with VLT courting a minor 8-7 lead. However, Mustafa ‘shooterR’ Kamal’s Skye came online in the latter stages as he mercilessly slaughtered VLT players, with a quad-kill on the 22nd round sealing a 13-9 win for Exploit on Breeze.

With the win, Exploit are now into the knockouts and will play the second seed to emerge from Group B. VLT will now face Exceeli to decide who joins Exploit in the knockout phase from Group A. There are three matches lined up on Day 3, with the Winner’s Bracket match between Global Esports and Enigma Gaming kicking things off. We will then witness the match between VLT and Exceeli while the day’s action ends with the loser of the first match facing Salt Esports in the Group B decider. By the end of Day 3, we will get our four qualified teams for the knockout phase that will go head-to-head in a double-elimination format from the 27th of August.

The highlights for Day 2 would definitely include the 17 First Kills provided by mw1 in the three-map series defeat against Team Exploit, who had Abdul Sami ‘k1ng’ Khero win 3 of his 7 clutch situations. shooterR proved to be the ultimate carry with Skye for Exploit, recording 30 frags on Breeze.

It was a good day for Indian Valorant fans as all three of the Indian teams in contention at the Valorant Conquerors Championship Main Event registered wins in their first best-of-three encounter on Day 1 to take one step closer to qualifying for the Semi-Finals of the event.

The day started with Velocity Gaming taking on Bangladeshi powerhouse Exceeli Esports. VLT ran the show on their own map pick, denying Exceeli control of sites, wit the latter unable to get the spike planted in 10 of the 12 rounds on their Attack. Despite losing the second-half pistol, VLT bounced back and proceeded to end the map with a swift 13-3 win. Bind was a much closer affair, Exceeli getting off to a 4-1 lead. However, VLT were once again defiant on defence and closed out the first half 8-4. Exceeli came within a round of leveling the scores but VLT took full advantage of their Skye pick to coast to a 13-8 win on Bind and seal the series 2-0.

Crash Landing on You had a bright start on Team Exploit’s map pick, Ascent. However, the latter soon found their groove on their Attack side before winning 12 rounds in a row to seal Ascent 13-5. CLOY were absolutely shut down on their Attack side by Exploit, who gave away just a single round on their defence to gain enough of a lead, which they converted into a 13-4 win on the map to set up a date with Velocity Gaming in The Upper Bracket of Group A.

Nepalese outfit Damaru Gaming were always in with a tough task against Global Esports. Ganesh ‘SkRossi’ Gangadhar made his presence felt on Bind, registering an ADR of nearly 300 (299.6) on the map as GE steamrolled their way to a 13-3 win. Damaru gave a good account of themselves on the Defence on Split, gathering 5 rounds in the half. However, they were unable to breach the Global wall on Attack as they fell to a 13-6 defeat to make their way to the Elimination Bracket in Group B.

The last match of the day, the most anticipated by far, was expected to be a close affair, with Enigma Gaming taking on Salt Esports. However, EG ran through Salt Esports, giving them a total of 4 rounds over two maps, including a 13-1 result on Icebox.

There were two particular highlights for Day 1, featuring SkRossi’s near-300 ADR performance on Bind and Anuj ‘Amaterasu’ Sharma’s display of experience, with the VLT in-game leader converting 4 of 7 clutch situations he found himself in during their 2-0 series win over Exceeli. Abdul Haseeb ‘HSB’ Khan also showed his class, registering a Headshot percentage of 44 in the series against Crash Landing on You.

Day 2 has 3 games on offer, with Exceeli Esports battling it out against Crash Landing on You and Damaru Gaming up against Salt Esports in the Elimination matches in Group A and B respectively. Fans will also get to see one of Velocity Gaming and Team Exploit become the first team to qualify for the knockout phase of the VCC Main Event.
