Vanguard hammers over 200 Valorant cheaters

"You are just experiencing what punishment feels like," says a Vanguard developer.

Long before the release of VALORANT, Riot had promised fans about a world-class anti-cheat engine for the competitive shooter to keep cheaters at bay, and it seems like they’re keeping their promise.

Ever since the beginning of the closed beta phase of VALORANT on April 7th, Vanguard has kept banning cheaters trying to disrupt the game environment. While there were still instances of cheats bypassing the anti-cheat system initially, it looks like Vanguard is getting stricter with each passing day.

Recently, over 200 cheaters have been hardware banned from VALORANT. A hardware ban renders violators to be unable to play the game until they replace their computers entirely, which is certainly a huge price to pay for cheating in a video game.

Riot devs have confirmed that minor instances accounting for one-third of the banned accounts have already been unbanned. However, as Phillip Koskinas – a member of the Vanguard team – has mentioned through his “novella” on Twitter, Riot will refrain from banning more cheaters at the moment. “A ban for cheating in VALORANT is intended to prevent a cheater from playing VALORANT.  If you could just make another account, that wouldn’t really be a consequence, it’d just be an inconvenience,” he said.

His six consecutive tweets addressed several questions about the scenario of cheaters getting banned from VALORANT. He also emphasized on the fact that they won’t go easy on the cheaters. On the topic of some cheaters not getting unbanned at launch, he said, “If you find yourself still unable to play the game, please do not panic, you are just experiencing what punishment feels like.”

The dev ended his tweet with some bad news for the cheaters who are currently banned, “Don’t DM random Rioters your sob stories.  Their hearts still pump warm blood, and it breaks what’s left of mine to explain that cheaters can cheat at the truth. You don’t get innocent ears, you get mine, and they’re filled with so much pitch, I can barely hear your screams.”
