The PUBG Mobile World Cup 2026 Grand Finals Day 1 ended under unusual circumstances after multiple players reportedly suffered health issues during the competition. Instead of the points table or Winner Winner Chicken Dinners, much of the discussion after Day 1 has focused on the condition of the players. Only four of the six scheduled matches were completed, with the remaining two called off amid the health situation. The tournament itself is part of the Esports World Cup 2026.
Several players and people present at the event have described the illness as suspected food poisoning. However, at the time of writing, the exact cause of the illness has not been officially confirmed, so it would be premature to identify any particular food item as the source.
Multiple PMWC 2026 Players Reportedly Fall Ill
Reports from the event suggest that players from multiple teams were feeling unwell during Day 1 of the Grand Finals.
Among the names reported to have suffered health problems are GodLike Esports captain Manya, IDA Esports’ Emre7, and Tianba’s Milu. There have also been reports from the Indian camp that Orangutan players Aaru and AKOP were not feeling well.
Indian creators Zgod and AnkiBot, who are currently in Paris, also discussed the situation. According to AnkiBot’s account, some players had reportedly been feeling unwell since Match 1 but continued playing.
The most concerning account came from the S2G side. According to information shared by one of their creators, Lost was reportedly vomiting while playing, while several other players required medical assistance.
The same account claimed that at one point around 20 of the 64 competing players were in the medical area and that some players had to be taken to medics on chairs.
These figures and individual health details are based on reports from people around the tournament and have not all been independently or officially confirmed.

Was Food the Reason Behind Players Falling Sick?
Food poisoning is currently being discussed as a possible explanation for the widespread illness.
One account from the S2G side raised suspicion around chicken consumed the previous day. However, there is an important distinction here: there has been no official confirmation that chicken, or any particular food, caused the players’ illnesses.
Until tournament organizers or medical officials provide more information, it should only be treated as a possible explanation rather than the confirmed cause.
The priority now remains the recovery and safety of the affected players.
PUBG Mobile World Cup 2026 Day 1 Ends After Four Matches
The health situation eventually affected the tournament schedule itself. Day 1 was expected to feature six matches, but action stopped after the fourth game.
As a result, Matches 5 and 6 were not played on Day 1.
The schedule adjustment means eight matches are now expected to be played on August 15, making Day 2 considerably longer than originally planned. Given the reported health problems, the condition of the affected players will be particularly important heading into such a demanding matchday.
What Happened in the Four Completed Matches?
Despite everything happening outside the game, four Grand Finals matches were completed.
Nigma Galaxy opened the finals with a strong performance on Rondo, winning the first WWCD with 23 points. Aurora Gaming also had an explosive opening game, collecting 17 finishes and matching Nigma Galaxy’s 23-point total.
The second match went to S2G Esports, who secured a 19-point Chicken Dinner following a tense endgame involving Team Flash and Horaa Esports.
eArena won Match 3 with another 19-point performance, while ULF Esports closed the shortened day by taking the Match 4 WWCD with 20 points.
Difficult Start for GodLike and Orangutan
For India’s two representatives, the opening day proved difficult even before considering the reported health concerns.
GodLike Esports collected four points in Match 1 before securing four finishes in Match 2. Their third game ended without a point, while they managed three finishes in Match 4.
Orangutan also struggled to establish momentum. Their first match ended with two placement points, followed by only one finish in Match 2 and two finishes in Match 3. Captain Aaru managed to survive until the Top 5 in Match 4, helping OG collect some much-needed placement points.
After three matches, the two Indian teams had fallen to 14th and 15th positions, making their remaining games even more important.
Player Health Comes First Ahead of Day 2
The PMWC Grand Finals are normally about trophies, points and international rivalries. Day 1, however, became a reminder that player welfare has to come before competition.
With the final two games stopped and multiple players reportedly requiring medical attention, attention will now turn towards their recovery.
If the revised schedule goes ahead, Day 2 on August 15 will feature eight matches, giving GodLike and Orangutan plenty of opportunities to recover in the standings. More importantly, however, everyone will be hoping the affected players are healthy enough to compete safely.
