What to expect from NVIDIA’s CES GeForce RTX: Game On event

The GPU giant Nvidia is all set to unveil some of its latest innovations at the biggest tech event of the year, CES 2021 on January 12th. As per sources, the Green team is all set to make waves in the budget GPU market with the rumored RTX 3050 and RTX 3050Ti.

Hosted by Senior Vice President of GeForce, Jeff Fisher at YouTube and Twitch on 12th Jan, the GeForce RTX: Game On event will start at 9 AM PST/12 PM EST. Rumors have it that Nvidia is all set to officially announce the RTX 3000 Mobile Series GPUs and budget RTX desktop GPUs.

Powering the ultra-slim and gaming laptops, the mobile counterparts of the desktop GPUs will bring Ampere architecture to replace the previous generation Turning GPUs. As per sources, the upcoming mobile GPUs will be on the same Samsung 8nm process and will be more power-efficient than Turning Mobile GPUs while also offering better performance per watt.

Some trusted leakers have already uncovered details of a 16GB Mobile RTX 3080 variant in works, that is believed to power one of the new ASUS ROG Zephyr laptops. The desktop version of the RTX 3080 only comes with 8GB GDDR6X of memory while the mobile RTX 3080 might come with upto 16GB GDDR6 memory support.

This leads us to the second-most rumored GPU expected to make an appearance, the RTX 3080 Ti. It is believed that the RTX 3080 Ti will feature 16GB GDDR6X and fill the gap between 3080 and 3090. It is also one of the most leaked GPUs prior to leaks about mobile GPUs, as many vendors have already leaked product names and pages featuring RTX 3080 Ti with 16GB memory dating back to September 2020. It is expected that RTX 3080 Ti will hit shelves by mid-February and will be priced at $849-$899, under-cutting AMD’s RX 6900XT by atleast $100.
