Left 4 Dead 2 censorship uplifted in Germany after 11 years

Valve has announced on its gaming platform Steam that the Left 4 Dead 2 Uncut version is now available in Germany. The company said it had requested the German authorities to re-evaluate the International version and allow its availability in the country.

After 11 years in the dark, the game will is now available to download and play.

Eleven years post-release the game will have an uncut version making its way to German users having previously being banned by the authorities.

“Hello, Valve recently requested that German authorities re-evaluate the game Left 4 Dead 2. We are happy to let you know that as a result, the uncut international version of Left 4 Dead 2 is now available to our customers in Germany. Owners of the game in Germany can download this free DLC to update the game if you wish to do so.” read their statement.

The game will drop in form of a DLC for the owners of the original game making it all the more fun for fans eagerly waiting for the full game. Given the violent nature of the game, the concerned authorities made Valve drop a suppressed version of the same that will play well the young ones.

How was the censored German version different from the International release?

Much like most of the games, Left 4 Dead 2’s censored version had no blood and dead bodies in the game. As you make a kill the bodies would rather disappear before hitting the ground.

As of now, German fans are entitled to the full version of the game.

The authorities are no longer holding Valve back from dropping one of their most popular titles. It was unfortunate that the game couldn’t be made available in Germany for eleven long years, but it’s time to cherish!
