The EA SPORTS FC 26 World Championship is entering its most important phase at the Esports World Cup 2026 in Paris, with the knockout stage scheduled for July 25 and 26.
The tournament features 36 of the world’s top FC Pro players competing for a share of a $1.5 million prize pool, the largest prize pool in FC Pro World Championship history.
FC 26 World Championship Knockout Format
The competition began with a six-round League Stage. Each of the 36 players was required to play six matches, earning three points for a win, one for a draw and no points for a defeat.
The top 24 players will advance to the Knockout Stage, while the bottom 12 will be eliminated. The eight highest-ranked players receive a direct place in the Round of 16. Players finishing from ninth to 24th must first compete in the Round of 24.
From there, the tournament switches to a single-elimination format. Every match is a single game, with extra time and penalties used if necessary to decide a winner. That leaves very little room for mistakes as the world’s best FC players fight for the championship.
PlayStation Outage Delays FC Pro Action
The road to the knockout stage has not been straightforward. A PlayStation Network outage on July 24 forced organizers to postpone the final League Stage matches.
The delayed matches were moved to Saturday, July 25, with the competition scheduled to resume at 1 PM CEST. The outage was particularly significant because professional players rely on the online Ultimate Team mode for competitive preparation and matches.
As a result, July 25 has become a crucial day for the tournament. Players must first complete the delayed League Stage before the final knockout bracket can take shape.
With $1.5 million available and the FC Pro World Championship title at stake, every remaining match carries enormous importance. The players who handle the pressure in Paris will move one step closer to becoming the 2026 EA SPORTS FC world champion.
