Former Rockstar Dev Calls GTA 6 Leaks a ‘Nothing Burger’

With the internet getting flooded with GTA 6 leaks, fans are getting hyped up but also worried about getting the game spoiled to the extent that it is not enjoyable on the day of release. While leaks are helping the anticipation build, former Rockstar Games developer Obbe Vermeij believes the controversy is being blown out of proportion.

Calling all the leaks a “nothing burger”, he dismissed the claims that people are going to buy the game anyway, and regardless of the leaks and development footage, it will have little to no impact on the sales or the game in itself at a large scale.

GTA 6 Leaks Compared to Hot Coffee

Vermeij went on to compare Rockstar’s infamous Hot Coffee controversy surrounding Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas to the latest developments surrounding GTA 6, where hidden content in files led to massive backlash. Compared with Hot Coffee, Vermeij believes the GTA 6 leaks are far less damaging. Not only does the leaked material provide an early look, but it also doesn’t reveal much about the storyline to spoil the game.

Will GTA 6 Leaks Hurt Rockstar?

As dataminers continue to leak Grand Theft Auto 6 materials online, Rockstar is doing their best to preserve its content to the best of their abilities. A plethora of leaks are available online, and each of them is giving away some aspect of the game, making fans fear whether they will lose interest ahead of the launch, but given how they don’t reveal anything more than minor hints surrounding the game, it is hard for one to assume that such leaks would hurt the launch of GTA 6.

It goes without saying that there is some truth to said leaks, but they reveal too little about the game for it to be significant enough to hurt the sales of the game. GTA 6 is expected to have the biggest opening day in video game history that would rival blockbuster movies, and given the hype, it is hard to imagine anyone skipping their plans to buy the game in light of the leaks available online.
