Earlier this week, Fnatic rifler Freddy “KRiMZ” Johansson and several other Swedish professionals who used matchmaking platform Esportal were erroneously banned by Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC). Following the ban, Krimz requested in a tweet, “It seems that my account got VAC banned. CSGO, can you fix this ASAP please.”
Several unwarranted VAC bans in the past have been retracted within a couple of days or so. A similar incident happened with Asian professionals who were falsely VAC banned due to matchmaking platform 5E’s anti-cheat.
It was likely a case of incompatibility between CS:GO’s trust mode and the matchmaking client. Same was the case with Esportal. But finally, the false-positive bans have been dealt with and the VAC bans are retracted.
Freddy “KRiMZ” Johansson is a popular figure in the Counter-Strike scene with almost 20 premier events to his name. Throughout his career, he has spent most of the time under Fnatic while he has won back-to-back majors during their prime.
In a statement released earlier, Esportal had clarified that they are in touch with Valve to resolve the issue and that their services are ceased until a solution is found. They further apologised to the users and unambiguously stated that the bans have “nothing to do with actual cheating”.
Eventually, both the parties have fixed the issue and the unwarranted VAC bans have been retracted. Freddy “KRiMZ” Johansson and co. will be playing against Dignitas in Flashpoint 2 on December 01.
