According to Insider Gaming, the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 release date is set for Tuesday, December 5, 2023. How Old Do You Have to Be to Play Valorant?

0

Valorant, the popular tactical first-person shooter from Riot Games, has captivated millions with its blend of precise shooting, unique agent abilities, and competitive gameplay. However, before diving into the thrilling world of ranked matches and spike detonations, an important question arises: what is the minimum age to play Valorant

This article explores the official age requirements, and the reasons behind them, and discusses practical steps parents can take to ensure a safe and appropriate gaming environment for their children.

The Official Age Criteria: Does it even make sense anymore?

Riot Games, like many other online games with mature content, has set a minimum age requirement of 13 years to play Valorant. This is clearly stated in their Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. But remember this, it’s not just a suggestion; it’s a legally binding agreement. Accounts created by individuals under 13 will be promptly canceled as confirmed by Riot.

This consistent global standard is what helps them comply with various international laws regarding child online protection. While the minimum age is set at 13, the game contains elements that may not be suitable for younger players. Which brings us to yet another important hot take: 13, while being the minimum age, may not be the most appropriate age for everyone.

But, why the 13+ Age requirement? Here’s the why behind this restriction

valorant new agent teaser

The 13+ rating for Valorant is justified for several reasons:

  • Violence: While the game has a stylized look, it still involves shooting opponents, resulting in their in-game deaths. Although the graphics aren’t hyper-realistic, the core gameplay is fundamentally violent.
  • Mature Themes: The competitive environment of Valorant, along with player interactions, can expose younger gamers to inappropriate language and behavior. Toxicity is a common issue in online gaming, and Valorant is no exception.
  • In-Game Purchases: Valorant uses a microtransaction system, allowing players to purchase cosmetic items like skins and sprays with real money. This requires parental oversight to prevent unauthorized purchases.
  • Online Interactions: The game’s social features, such as voice chat and text communication, expose players to various online interactions, some of which may not be appropriate for younger audiences.

Beyond the rules: A moral responsibility that requires parental guidance

Even when a child turns 13 or older, having parental guidance is still very important. The 13+ rating suggests that the game may contain content that requires adult supervision or moderation. Parents should keep the following in mind:

  • Monitor gaming time: Excessive gaming can negatively impact academic performance, social skills, and overall health. It’s crucial to establish time limits and encourage regular breaks.
  • Start conversations: Talking with your child about their gaming experiences, including the challenges they face and their online interactions, helps create a safe and open environment.
  • Utilize parental controls: Most gaming platforms and operating systems offer parental control features. These tools can assist in limiting playtime, monitoring in-game purchases, and filtering out inappropriate communications.

For Valorant, since it doesn’t have built-in parental controls, relying on OS-level settings is even more important.

And finally, educate the younger audiences on online safety. Teach them about safe online practices, such as responsible communication, not sharing personal information, and how to report inappropriate behavior. Familiarizing yourself with Valorant’s community guidelines will help you understand player behavior expectations and effectively address any potential issues.

Apex Legends Season 18 Map Leaked

0

Apex Legends Season 18 is on the horizon, and the anticipation is building. With the developers confirming changes to the Ranked system and the Revenant Reborn, the excitement is palpable. But what’s caught the attention of fans is the potential new map update.

The Revenant Reborn is set to bring new abilities to the game, making the Legend feel like a fresh addition. Meanwhile, leaks suggest that Storm Point could receive new Points of Interest (POIs) on the southeast portion of the map due to inclement weather. These updates promise to enhance the gameplay experience.

In the Season 18 game files, a new map called skybox was discovered by dataminer KralRindo. It’s possible that the codename “mp_rr_canyonlands_mu2_night” alludes to an earlier iteration of Kings Canyon. An updated skybox with new planets and stars appears to be particularly for the Shadow Royale Kings Canyon map.

The new skybox is designed to work perfectly for the dark conditions necessary to play Shadow Royale LTM on Kings Canyon. This seasonal mode usually drops around October as part of Apex Legend’s Fight or Fright event. With Season 18 likely running until past Halloween, Shadow Royale LTM could make a grand return to Kings Canyon with a fresh look.

MrBeast takes legal action against company responsible for MrBeast Burger

0

In November 2020, popular YouTuber James Donaldson, known as MrBeast, partnered with Virtual Dining Concepts to launch a chain of “virtual restaurants” under the brand name MrBeast Burger. The concept of “ghost kitchens” was innovative, but the journey has been far from smooth.

Over the years, MrBeast Burger has faced a sea of complaints from fans and customers who received subpar and even raw food. Described as “disgusting,” “revolting,” and “inedible,” the negative reviews have flooded social media and news outlets. The dissatisfaction reached a point where MrBeast decided to take legal action.

For their issues with quality control, Virtual Dining Concepts is currently being sued by MrBeast. The lawsuit cites thousands of unfavorable reviews and comments that express utter dismay that MrBeast would link his name to such a thing. The lawsuit further emphasizes that MrBeast has not been paid despite the company making millions of dollars.

MrBeast has publicly expressed his frustration on Twitter, stating that it’s impossible to guarantee quality with virtual restaurants. He also mentioned his inability to get out of the deal with MrBeast Burger and his preference for managing his Feastables line, where he has more control.

The entire situation has put a dent in MrBeast’s brand value, as he has borne the brunt of the justified attacks and criticisms. The lawsuit includes extensive evidence, from videos by other YouTubers to average fans documenting the poor food quality.

GST Council to review 28% tax on online gaming after 6 months

0

The GST Council has clarified that the proposed 28% tax rate on online gaming will be applicable to the actual cash or equivalent deposits made by players on an online gaming platform, not on the winning amounts being redeployed. This decision, set to be implemented on October 1, has been met with both relief and concern within the industry.

The decision to levy a 28% tax on online gaming was made on July 11, with the implementation date expected to be October 1. The tax will be uniform, making no distinction between games of skill and chance. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has stated that the enabling provision for this taxation is likely to be taken up in the ongoing session of Parliament.

The GST Council has agreed to review the impact of this higher GST on online gaming after six months of its implementation. This decision came after appeals from states like Goa and Sikkim, which sought consideration due to their smaller size. The review will provide insights into how the new tax rate is affecting the industry.

While the clarification on the applicability of the tax rate has provided some relief, smaller start-ups are expected to be “very badly hit” once the higher GST comes into force. The problem remains that the GST is being levied on a value much higher than the actual revenue earned by online gaming platforms.

The GST Council has also recommended specific provisions in the Integrated GST Act, 2017, to articulate that suppliers of online gaming located outside India are liable to pay GST. Additionally, any money paid out in the form of Virtual Digital Assets will be liable to a GST rate of 28%. The same valuation mechanism for casinos and online gaming has been welcomed by the industry.

How Tall Is Xiao In Genshin Impact?

With the introduction of Genshin Impact 1.3, players were introduced to Xiao, a Polearm user of the Anemo type. Known for his ability to deal massive damage at the cost of his health, Xiao has become a sought-after character. But one question that has intrigued many is his height. Let’s delve into the details.

How Tall is Xiao?

The exact height of characters in Genshin Impact has never been officially disclosed by the developer, miYoHo. However, the gaming community has done extensive research, comparing trailers, in-game assets, and character models. It’s estimated that Xiao stands at 5’2″, sharing the same height as characters like Fischl, Xiangling, Noelle, and Keqing.

Xiao may not be the best choice for exploration parties, but for combat, he’s a powerful option. His Anemo abilities allow him to create Swirl reactions with other elemental characters, making him a popular main DPS character. His height doesn’t affect his combat abilities, but it’s an interesting detail for fans.

In Genshin Impact, characters’ movement speed is determined by their body size. There are three different body sizes and two genders, including Adult Male, Adult Female, Teenage Male, Teenage Female, Child Male, and Child Female. Xiao’s height places him in the Teenage Male category.

miHoYo has announced regular six-week intervals for Genshin Impact updates, with Version 1.4 expected to be released on March 17th, 2021. Players can look forward to new content and continued enhancements to the game.
