Spinx Officially Joins MOUZ

0

In a move that will undoubtedly shake up the competitive Counter-Strike scene, Lotan “Spinx” Giladi has officially joined MOUZ. The Israeli rifler, renowned for his exceptional aim and impactful playmaking, arrives from Vitality following a successful but ultimately challenging stint with the French giants.

Spinx’s departure from Vitality comes after a period of internal turmoil within the team. Despite achieving significant victories, including the prestigious BLAST Paris Major, the team struggled to maintain consistent dominance in 2024. This led to Spinx exploring other options earlier in the year, though he ultimately remained with Vitality and contributed to their IEM Cologne triumph.

However, as the new competitive season commenced, it became clear that a change of scenery was necessary for Spinx. Fortunately, the recent shake-up within the MOUZ roster, stemming from differing visions for the team’s future, presented an unexpected opportunity for the talented Israeli.

MOUZ, facing internal challenges, sought to reinforce their roster and identified Spinx as the ideal candidate to fill the void left by the benching of in-game leader Kamil “siuhy” Szkaradek. Spinx is expected to assume a key role as a rotating lurker, complementing Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin’s transition to captaincy.

While fans eagerly anticipate Spinx’s debut in MOUZ colors, they will have to wait a few weeks. Due to the roster lock for the upcoming IEM Katowice, Spinx will not be eligible to compete in the Polish event. Instead, academy player Adrian “xelex” Vincze will step in as a stand-in. PGL Cluj-Napoca, scheduled for February 14-23, is likely to be the stage for Spinx’s official MOUZ debut.

With Spinx’s addition, the current MOUZ roster now comprises:

  • Ádám “torzsi” Torzsás
  • Dorian “xertioN” Berman
  • Jimi “Jimpphat” Salo
  • Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin
  • Lotan “Spinx” Giladi
  • Dennis “sycrone” Nielsen (coach)
  • Kamil “siuhy” Szkaradek (benched)

PGL Bans Four Players for Match-Fixing in DreamLeague Season 24

0

In a continued effort to uphold competitive integrity, PGL, a leading tournament organizer in the Dota 2 esports scene, has issued bans to four players for their involvement in match-fixing during the DreamLeague Season 24: North America Open Qualifier 1.

The sanctioned players are:

  • Mkid 影 (Kyrgyzstan)
  • Pcyscho (Russia)
  • Lanzarote (Ukraine)
  • Heaven_1 (also known as Kohxi/Kohol, Ukraine)

Despite participating in the North American qualifier, these players are based in Eastern Europe and competed remotely.

Competing under the team name “unknown,” they advanced to the Closed Qualifier in September 2024 but were eliminated by Apex Genesis (now Wildcard Gaming).

PGL’s investigation uncovered evidence of their involvement in match-fixing during the Open Qualifier, leading to their bans.

This development follows a recent wave of sanctions in the North American Dota 2 scene.

Earlier this month, PGL banned five players—Cloud (KK), Muhammad “high_shaggy” Ghaznavi (Saadman01), Sonic, ValOdbka, and Dmytro (Logan)—for similar offenses.

The North American region has faced challenges with match-fixing and win trading, exacerbated by the migration of professional players to other regions and the withdrawal of organizations.

PGL’s decisive actions underscore a zero-tolerance policy towards such unethical practices, aiming to preserve the integrity of the competitive landscape.

Valorant Rank Shield Explained: How Does It Work?

0

Riot Games has just added Rank Shield to Valorant, and it could be your saving grace the next time you’re on the brink of deranking.

For the uninitiated, Rank Shields were added to the competitive mode with the newly-introduced Valorant 10.1 patch. The update also brings a few other changes to the shooter, including bug fixes for Tejo and some improvements to Premier.

But what exactly is the Rank Shield in Valorant, and how will it protect you from deranking?

In this article, we will take a look at everything you need to know about the new Rank Shield in Valorant, including its function, and how you can use it to avoid deranking.

Valorant Rank Shield: How To Use It?

As mentioned earlier, the new Rank Shield will enable you to prevent yourself from deranking in Valorant.

Here’s how it works:

  • Players are given two Rank Shields when they are in Tier 1 of any rank except Radiant.
  • Tier 1 ranks include Iron 1, Bronze 1, Silver 1, Gold 1, Platinum 1, Diamond 1, Ascendant 1, and Immortal 1.
  • Once a player loses a game with 0 RR, one shield is consumed.
  • Losing again at 0 RR consumes the second shield.
  • If you have no Rank Shields remaining, losing a game will demote you to the previous rank.
  • This means that you’ll effectively have to lose three games while at 0 RR to get demoted to a lower division.
  • No additional Rank Shields will be provided at Tier 2 and Tier 3 of any rank.
  • Rank Shields will only be replenished if a player enters Tier 1 of a rank via promotion or demotion.

Note that once you’ve consumed a Rank Shield in Valorant, you won’t be able to replenish it till you leave your current rank tier. For instance, going to 10 RR from 0 RR will not replenish your Rank Shield.

Overall, the Rank Shield is meant to provide you with a couple of additional layers of protection when you’re on the verge of deranking to a lower division.

While a portion of the community is viewing this as a positive change, a lot of Valorant players have also expressed concerns about MMR inflation. This issue has persisted in the game for a while, largely due to the lack of hard rank resets, and it appears to be further exacerbated by the introduction of Rank Shields.

This strategic move comes on the heels of a disappointing semi-final exit at the eXTREMESLAND 2024, where Rare Atom was defeated by XO. The team’s recent form has also been a cause for concern.

The current Rare Atom roster now comprises:

Phil Foden TOTY Honorable Mentions will be available in the game in the coming days as an SBC and will be added to the TOTY roster. While the exact details are at large at the time of writing, we can assume that it won’t be an easy one to get.

The blog post by the devs confirmed that The International will be returning to Germany for its 14th edition, sparking excitement within the game’s community.

For the uninitiated, The International is the biggest annual Dota 2 tournament and one of the most significant tournaments in all of esports, renowned for its gigantic prize pools and intense, high-level competition.

GTA 6 May Cost $100

0

Arguably the most anticipated AAA title of all time, GTA 6 could cost as much as $100 making it the highest base price for any video game launched by Rockstar or any other developer.

GTA 6 has been in development for over a decade and as things stand, Rockstar will release the game later this year for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S while the wait will continue for PC gamers. While Rockstar promised a reasonable price earlier, Epyllion CEO Matthew Ball suggested that it could be priced as high as $100 to battle the development costs and inflation.

Ball claimed that with an average price of $91 adjusted for inflation, GTA 6 would be the “cheapest” game in the franchise if it were priced at $70. Goes without saying that there is more than a decade’s worth of difference between the two games so a crazy price should not come as a surprise.

Releasing a game for $100 will not only set new pricing standards for the gaming industry, but if the game fails to deliver, its high price might backfire and we will have nothing but one of the biggest debacles in the video game industry.

While Rockstar has gone silent about how far along the game has come as the release date approaches. Only time will tell how Rockstar price their biggest game ever but hoping for it to match the current industry standard might not be the best thing to do.

Spunj Calls Out Skyesports for Souvenir Cancellation: “You Are a F*g Dog”

0

Skyesports, an Indian esports tournament organizer, recently announced the cancellation of their highly anticipated event, Skyesports Souvenir 2025. This decision has sparked significant criticism within the esports community, notably from Chad “SPUNJ” Burchill, a respected commentator and analyst.

SPUNJ’s Critique of Skyesports’ Decision

During a recent episode of HLTV Confirmed, SPUNJ did not hold back his disapproval of Skyesports’ handling of the event. He accused the organizer of mismanaging the tournament’s planning and unjustly attributing the cancellation to Valve, the developer of Counter-Strike. SPUNJ emphasized that such abrupt cancellations disrupt the competitive calendar and waste valuable time for participating teams.

He stated, “If you are scheduling events in advance and then cancelling within a couple of months of the event being announced, you’re a f*g dog. That’s what I call people on FACEIT, and that’s what I am going to call the TOs that do this.”

Speculations on the Cancellation

Fellow analysts on the show speculated that the cancellation might stem from Skyesports’ challenges in attracting top-tier teams. They suggested that the organizer’s attempt to introduce wildcard entries may not have aligned with Valve’s event criteria, leading to the event’s cancellation due to business considerations.

The panel also discussed the potential repercussions for Skyesports’ upcoming events, particularly the Skyesports Masters 2025 scheduled for May. Given its timing before a major tournament and a substantial prize pool of $500,000, there are concerns about the event’s viability and the likelihood of attracting top-tier teams.

The cancellation has broader implications for the Tier 2 esports scene. Such decisions can undermine opportunities for emerging teams, especially if tournaments meant to provide exposure are abruptly called off. SPUNJ remarked on Valve’s likely disappointment in such situations, suggesting that while the developer may not impose direct penalties, there would be a sense of disapproval affecting future opportunities for the organizers.

Skyesports’ cancellation of the Souvenir 2025 event has elicited strong reactions from the esports community. The critiques highlight the importance of reliable event planning and the potential consequences of sudden cancellations on both the competitive calendar and the development of emerging teams.
