Captain of a prominent Indian CS roster allegedly embroiled in cheating controversy

2

Indian Counter-Strike scene has been rocked by another cheating controversy. The Forsaken incident had already tainted the hard work done by the other members of Optic India. But, the National Scene has now been rocked by emerging proofs of hacks being used by Slaughter Rage Army captain Bubun ‘The Guru’ Panday.

TalkEsport couldn’t independently identify the authenticity of the proofs. TalkEpsort also urges the community to let the authorities take the decision and not to spread hatred to the said player’s private accounts or chats.

Slaughter Rage Army is a Kolkata-based lineup that made waves in 2018 with their unabashed brand of Counter-Strike. Noticeable finishes include a 3rd place at ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND Offline Indian Qualifiers at LXG and a 2nd place at ESL INDIA Fall Season Finals.

The lineup had established themselves as a top-5 team and had reportedly taken a break from competitive gaming, missing the Winter Phase, owing to exams.

Many pros from the National Scene were skeptical of the team being ‘legit’, to say in Layman’s terms. But, the proofs have now been put forward by Malhar star Gurtej ‘Proud’ Singh, who is supported by several of the pros from the Kolkata gaming scene.

The screenshots provided as part of the proof show Bubun Panday in conversation with someone, almost bragging about how the cheats they are aware of or possess will never be caught. The SRA captain also iterates that he will attempt to make an auto-executable version of the hack during their ‘break’.

The conversation also continues with The Guru revealing that their hacks are maybe installed in the vibranceGUI software, which is double the size of the normal vibranceGUI software. He also says that the hack includes a panic key which once pressed will disable all the cheating features and will only be re-enabled by pressing certain keys in the open chat window in CSGO. He says the feature is mainly for LAN evens to avoid being caught.

He also gives the unknown user in the conversation a zip file stating how it can be enabled by pressing HOME and disabled by pressing END.

These revelations are quite something, considering Slaughter Rage Army had pushed the envelope and put Kolkata Counter Strike on the map.

It will now be up to the governing bodies and ESL to determine what to do with these proofs. Their Rules and Terms of Service do iterate that players cannot be deemed to be hacking on the basis of screenshots or images.

But, the screenshots provided herein mixed with the speculation from several Indian CSGO pros might just compel them to review their rule and perhaps make an exception here.

As for the other members of Slaughter Rage Army, it is still unclear as to whether they are, in any way, involved in the reported cheating incident. For now, we are just in shock to what has been revealed and it will be interesting to see how the Community reacts to the same.

Mousesports crash out of EU Minor as Valiance win Group Decider

The EU Minor for IEM Katowice 2019 has taken another scalp. After the exit of Optic and ex-Space Soldiers, it is mousesports’ turn to bite the dust. The #4 HLTV ranked European lineup lost to Valiance in the Group A decider in straight maps (16-12 Train, 16-8 Cache).

mousesports’ journey started off on the wrong foot in Poland, with Valiance handing them a shock 14-16 defeat in the Group A opener sending them straight into the elimination match. chrisJ and his men gathered themselves and then registered a strong 2-0 over Optic to knock them out and move to the Decider, which just so happened to be a rematch against Valiance.

With the uncertainty factor of bo1s over, mousesports were expected to win. But, Valiance stormed into the lead in the Decider, winning mousesports’ pick Train 16-12, with the ex-Imperial duo of EspiranTo and ottoNd firing on all cylinders.

Cache was more of a whitewash, with huNter joining the duo in terms of out-fragging the mousesports roster, which often looked clueless, running the same strategies over and over again.

With this, mousesports are now condemned to watching IEM Katowice. The lineup’s exit is not undeserving, based on their performance at the Europe Minor. But, it again raises the question of the gulf in quality when comparing the Europe with other regions.

Perhaps, equal slots for all regions at the Minor is a tad bit harsh to an overstacked Europe, which has provided the latest shock, with the fourth best team in the world getting eliminated in the Groups itself.

The debate will gain pace once again, unfortunately, at the cost of mousesports’ shot at the IEM Katowice title. For Valiance, it is time to focus on the task ahead and actually qualifying for the Major.

Sadly, no mousesports stickers for IEM Katowice.

Red Bull partners with ENCE

1

Finnish gaming organisation Ence has announced a partnership with Energy Drink Company Red Bull in a press release.

The partnership, according to the press release, will “give the fans content they will love to watch moving forward,” suggesting that Redbull will be helping them create creative videos and exclusives for fans to enjoy. Redbull is known as a brand that uses marketing and creative ways to help both the company it partners with and itself.

Mika Kuusisto, CEO of Ence said

Red Bull helps our roster with giving energy when the going gets tough, and wings when the tough gets going,
We couldn’t be more proud to start working together with our new partner.

Redbull has already entered esports by partnering with teams like Cloud9, North, Tempo Storm etc. They also recently announced a massive partnership with arguably the most popular Fortnite streamer Ninja, solidifying their claims of esports being a legitimate branding avenue.

Funnily, Aleksi “allu” Jalli, the awper in the CSGO team of Ence, had a video of him go viral in ESL One: Katowice Major in 2015 while he was playing for NiP where he was heard live on stream saying “Are those Red Bull’s only for the commercials, or can you actually drink them?” which later became a meme, and it is only fitting that his team be sponsored by Red Bull 3 years later.

Congress’ Shashi Tharoor moves private bill in Lok Sabha to regulate Online Gaming

4

Senior Congress Leader Shashi Tharoor has moved a private bill to regulate Online Gaming. The bill was moved in Lok Sabha. An elected Lower House member from Trivandrum, Shashi Tharoor is eyeing on online games after the recent entry of big players in the market.

The bill if passed, will regulate, PUBG, PUBG-M, CSGO, DotA 2 and more which are considered as esports.

Speaking to a leading media house, Economic Times, Shashi Tharoor urged the need to introduce the bill. This will enable the Government to oversee and ensure the players are in accordance with the Constitution and the Regulations at place.

Sports (Online Gaming & Prevention of Fraud) Bill

“The main purpose of my bill is to preserve the integrity of sports. The bill is primarily divided into two parts for this purpose. One part recognises the offence of sports fraud and prescribes a special procedure to deal with it. The other part acknowledges the fact that the increasing commercial nature of sports increases financial incentives for vested interests to manipulate sporting events, therefore it provides for the regulation of online sports betting activities,” Tharoor said.

The concern or Mr. Shashi Tharoor focuses on the gambling side of the online games. The lack of tools and regulations to monitor the digital gaming sector is the cause. Since gaming in India has been overgrowing, the Bill might get passed in the Houses too early than we can expect.

The Law Commission of India has projected the rise of online gaming in India, estimated to reach $1bn by 2021.

PUBG and Fortnite ‘clone’ made more money than both games on mobile

0

In what comes as a surprise for gaming enthusiasts, PUBG and Fortnite have been beaten by battle royale game “Knives Out”, which holds the top spot for revenue earned in 2018 for mobile games.

Knives out generated $465 million revenue for 2018- compared to $455 million for Fortnite. It may seem a surprising figure, but the game is very popular in Japan; with 80 percent of their revenue coming from there and measly 1 percent coming from the US.

The major reason for the huge revenue apart from its popularity is the amount an average user spends on in-game items, with figures reported to be in excess of $370.

However, the numbers may be misleading because Fortnite have not disclosed their revenue from Android, which may well be enough to surpass Knives Out. They have also not been able to penetrate in China due to licensing issues in the country. Nevertheless, it is a huge achievement by Sensor Tower to compete with bigwigs like Fortnite and PUBG.

Valve to expand CSGO Trust Matchmaking system; announces Steam China

1

Valve in its Year-in-Review blog post for 2018 announced new changes in its Trust Factor matchmaking system which will see the feature be available in all games in the steam platform.

The Trust Factor was first introduced in CSGO in late 2017, in a bid to provide high-quality matchmaking to genuine players and limit hackers to lower quality matches. The way it works is that user is assigned a “trust score” depending on different characteristics and patterns of a typical gamer. Players with similar scores are then matched together.

While the timeframe is not announced for the release of this system in each game, it is expected to be in place by end of 2019. The upgrade also allows Valve to determine with more accuracy whether the user is likely to be a cheater or not.

Apart from this major announcement, Valve also announced a new platform called Steam China, partnering with Perfect World to bring their games in China. They have also announced new features like a dedicated app for Steam Chat, changes to their recommendation algorithm in the steam store and a new PC Cafe Program to improve the LAN experience for players.
