Dota 2 at EWC 2026: LGD Gaming and Team Liquid Survive a Chaotic Elimination Day

The Dota 2 Esports World Cup 2026 Survival Stage delivered a dramatic opening day on July 14, with Team Liquid and LGD Gaming keeping their playoff hopes alive in Paris. The Survival Stage features 12 teams competing for the final four playoff places. Every Round 1 series is a best-of-three, with the losing team eliminated immediately.

Team Liquid Survive Xtreme Gaming Test

Team Liquid opened the day’s action against Xtreme Gaming and secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory.

The series went the distance, giving Liquid little room for error against Xtreme Gaming. With the win, Liquid moved forward in the Survival bracket and kept their EWC 2026 campaign alive.

Xtreme Gaming, meanwhile, were eliminated from the tournament. The result was particularly notable given Xtreme’s status as one of the strongest teams in the field.

LGD Gaming Sweep MOUZ

LGD Gaming produced a more convincing result later in the day, defeating MOUZ 2-0.

The opening game lasted around 35 minutes, with LGD taking control before closing out the map. The second game was a much longer battle, lasting more than an hour, but LGD eventually completed the sweep.

The victory kept LGD in contention for one of the four remaining playoff spots.

Rune Eaters Eliminate Virtus.pro

Elsewhere, Rune Eaters caused one of the day’s biggest surprises by defeating Virtus.pro 2-1.

The result sent Virtus.pro out of the competition while Rune Eaters advanced to the next stage of the Survival bracket.

The day’s remaining Vici Gaming versus PlayTime series was postponed amid a competitive-integrity review, adding another layer of uncertainty to an already chaotic Survival Stage.

With Liquid, LGD Gaming and Rune Eaters surviving elimination, the battle for the final EWC 2026 Dota 2 playoff spots remains wide open.
