The Chinese-European Organization decided to consider  Miikka “suNny” Kemppi after their deal with Chris “chrisJ” de Jong fell apart.

After his 1 month stint with FunPlus Phoenix, chrisJ’s loan contract with the former expired after the team decided to pick suNny as a stand-in for their upcoming ESL Pro League Season 13 fixtures, scheduled to take place from March 8-April 11.

chrisJ joined FPX Esports back at the end of January on account of his benching at Mousesports where he was replaced by Frederik “acoR” Gyldstrand from MAD Lions. At the Chinese organization, he reunited with his former teammate Martin “STYKO” Styk with whom he steered his side to the championship at the Snow Sweet Snow 1 Cup and a runner-up finish at the DreamHack Open January. With suNny who recently parted his ways with ENCE, will join the ranks of FPX to help the latter at the PL S13 tournament. Earlier the 26yo Finn was linked to a potential project including Robin “flusha” Rönnquist and Timothy “autimatic” Ta but the plan was scrapped due to lack of interest from Organizations. This resulted in the ex-Cloud9 member making his switch to valorant while suNny stated that he would still consider if anything turns up regarding the same.

FunPlus Phoenix‘s General Manager, Petar Marković, stated,

Unfortunately, we could not make a mutual agreement with chrisJ that works for both parties on time, and that’s why we decided to try out another player. We would like to wish Chris the best of luck in his future endeavors.

With the addition of suNny to their active lineup, FPX Esports are now:

  • Jesse “zehN” Linjala
  • Pavle “Maden” Bošković
  • Martin “STYKO” Styk
  • Asger “Farlig” Jensen
  • Miikka “suNny” Kemppi (stand-in)
  • Jonatan “Devilwalk” Lundberg (Head coach)
