Court denies Jamppi’s claim on VAC ban lift

Earlier this year, CSGO pro Elias 'Jamppi' Olkkonen had sued Valve over a permanent VAC ban which prevented him from signing in OG.

The Steam account of Jamppi received a Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC) ban way back in 2015. This year, in March 2020, 18-year-old Jamppi decided to sue Valve over the ban and demanded a compensation of €268,092 in damages. Jamppi claimed that the VAC ban had hindered his signing to OG and permanently prevented him from participating in any CSGO majors. He also demanded the court for his VAC ban to be lifted.

Jamppi also demanded his VAC ban to be temporarily lifted for the duration of the legal proceedings, to which Valve has finally replied on 20th August, according to a report on Ilta-Sanomat.

In their response, Valve has declined to life Jamppi’s demands to lift his VAC ban temporarily.

Valve claimed that the removal of Jamppi’s VAC ban would cause damages to the company, and send a false message among players that they could cheat in the game and the VAC ban could be removed without any justification.

Following this, the District Court has declined Jamppi’s claims for his VAC ban to be lifted during the legal proceedings. However, the case will still continue in the court, and Jamppi will have rights to appeal against the District Court’s decision in the next seven days.
