YouTube’s new Partner Program to rival Twitch’s Affiliate Program

YouTube recently introduced its Partner Program devised to simplify the monetization process for streamers that will be in direct competition with Twitch’s Affiliate Program.

With rivals closing in on Twitch’s position as the number one video game streaming website, YouTube’s new Partner Program can outlast what the Amazon-owned streaming company offers its streamers.

To achieve monetization on YouTube, streamers are required to strive towards specific objectives that make them eligible for the YouTube Partner Program.

YouTube announces new Partner Program Requirements

Here are the requirements for the new streaming-focused YouTube Partner Program:

  • 500 subscribers
  • 3 valid public uploads
  • 3,000 valid public watch hours in the last year OR 3M valid public Shorts views in the last 90 days

Streamers with the above can get:

  • Channel memberships
  • Super Chat
  • Super Stickers
  • Super Thanks
  • Promote your own products with YouTube Shopping

Besides said benefits, members of the Partner Program will get shares from the ad revenue which will amount upto a significant economic gain for the streamers. There is an argument to be made that streamers on YouTube will earn more than a creator with equivalent reach on Twitch which might hurt the latter in the long run.

With rivals closing in at an alarming rate, unless Twitch pulls up its socks, we will find them slacking behind the likes of YouTube, Rumble, and Kick.
